  • It works great.
Capacity: 4TB
Love my synology! Can't wait to get more. Going to get the camera too! The unit just works great! Quality and value. Reads and writes fast. Can store loads of pics and shorts!

  • compatible, quiet, not terribly expensive
Capacity: 4TB
OK, I used to have an old 1 bay diskstation which I just filled w/ whatever spare drives I had. Never any trouble, probably ran for 13 yrs w/ various drives demoted from my internal pc bays. Now i have a new synology 2 bay, and had endless trouble using spare drives in it. Reds were just unusably loud. Random spare pc disks consistently failed power on regularly (but only in the DS). In desperation, I got these synology branded drives and everything just works. So, I guess times have changed. Fortunately, these are quiet, work, and aren't even at a horrid premium as I expected them to be. So, I could have saved myself a LOT of time and a little money just going with these from the start, I guess, instead of trying to be cheap. Mixed feelings about that, tbh, but these work, are quiet, and reasonably priced. ... show more

  • super
Capacity: 12TB
Installed it in my synolodge, so far it works without any problems. Too bad it's expensive, I would have bought 10 more. In my nonprofit I need to record a lot of video, I need a lot of space. I am satisfied with the hard disk!

  • Solid value, better tech
Capacity: 4TB
After 37 years of IT support as a MSP owner I know the value of HP drives in HP server with central firmware updates from BIOS to ILO to Array controller and drive firmware all being updated and managed by one vendor. SO, with that enterprise mindset in place these Synology drives are a nice upgrade to Synology NAS's since they add the firmware maintenance and control back to a single vendor. I have not had issues with other enterprise drives, but I know this in the end makes things more stable. The price is slightly higher but the value proposition is also higher too. ... show more

  • Quality HDDs for my SynologyNAS.
Capacity: 12TB
A good range of storage capacities, 12TB was perfect for my needs. Well packaged and arrived on time. Addresses the issue that Synology introduced with the compatibility requirement for HDD to be used by their NAS and current version of DSM. In my case I was not able to do a normal drive replacement, it would not work. Be sure to do a complete backup of your data and NAS configuration if you are replacing HDDs in your current NAS. HyperBackup worked perfectly for the backup and restore. ... show more

  • Pricey but worth it
Capacity: 8TB
I got 2 of these for my NAS by Synology. They are really pretty quiet and I don't hear them as much as I thought I would. They load up fast and so far they seem like they'll hold up for a while. I know they're higher priced than some of the other options but you get what you pay for.
