  • SF-E320001- Very Nice Elliptical- however customer service is not so hot
Style: SF-E320001
Ok so Im going to go over exactly what happened after receiving my elliptical. The box is EXTREMELY HEAVY, which is to be expected. Upon opening the box, there were parts everywhere... loose parts.. screws, washers, Wave washers. The package containing the small parts must have come open during shipment. I took a great deal of time trying to locate everything and confirm that I had the correct # of each item. Initially I was missing one of the wave washers and I actually found a very small screw that I couldn't locate on the parts list which meant it came off of one of the partially pre-assembled parts. And I could not figure out where it came from. I immediately utilized the customer support email and sent them a message including the model #, the name and part # of the wave washer that was missing out of the owners manual and a PHOTO of the little screw that I found unattached to anything. I sent the email on Feb 4th and was of course hoping for a quick response because at this point Ive got everything all over my living room waiting to be put together. On FEB 11th, I received a response from customer service who asked me for the PROOF OF PURCHASE (how do I have part #s from the owners manual to provide them to begin with? and why would I email them for help with a product I DIDN'T ORDER) MY SHIPPING ADDRESS (why?), SERIAL # AND PART NUMBERS NEEDED (already provided and one of them, the photo, I had already explained that I had no part # for it). No response regarding the photo I provided. So at this point 7 days later... I was super upset and trust me they now know it. The good news is that I continued to attempt assembly to see if the wave washer would magically turn up or if I would be able to figure out where that miscellaneous screw was supposed to go to. and whalah!!! I did find the wave washer and realized that the little misc screw went to one of the rear pedal assemblies. One side had the screw and one side didn't... so it all ended up working out for me because of my own persistence and patience... but I pray to God this elliptical lasts because I would hate to have to contact customer service again and get such terrible service. They clearly didn't read my email and I can't believe after getting a concerning email like that from a new customer they would respond with this "auto type" "impersonal" message showing no concern that I just spent $600 with their company and got a mess of a product at first. Now on to the finished product, which by the way took me 4 HOURS to put together. Part of that is due to missing parts that I couldn't locate at first. Assembly was fairly easy but time consuming. The Elliptical itself is amazing. I LOVE IT! Tension is good and fluctuates depending on the specific program chosen. The different programming options make it so nice to be able change things up and also work up to higher level programs as you get in shape. So far, I would highly recommend and will come back to update if anything changes. This product is sturdy, not loud at all and has a very smooth stride. Not sure if the pulse reader is completely accurate but I think its close. ... show more

  • Nice elliptical
Style: Electric
Overall a good buy! I have been enjoying and look forward to my at home workouts with this elliptical. Easy to use and good quality once assembled. This elliptical is a perfect size for a smaller space and easy to move around. It took me 2 1/2 hours to assemble. I'm not very handy, but DYI projects have taught me how to follow direction! No additional tools needed for assembly. Make sure to read directions and the assembly diagram closely. If you place a piece in the wrong spot, or fastened a part too tight or too loose it does make a difference with sturdiness, and alignment of how parts and pieces are put together. My only reason for a 4 star review is the elliptical does have a little wobble to it, even though bolts and screws are secure. FYI, if you have hardwood flooring make sure you place a mat underneath to avoid the floor scratching up. ... show more

  • Just Tighten the Bolts
Style: Electric
My wife and I are very impressed with the eliptical. We had searched around for weeks and this one has the best features for the price. A lot of reviews said it was loud, which we were willing to deal with, and they weren't wrong. It would run quietly for a few minutes and then start to bang around. Once I tightened the bolts holding the front and back legs the problem was solved. It runs whisper quiet now. You have to tighten the bolt until the screw completely disappears. The wrench provided won't cut it. I had to use 2 real wrenches and I was able to get it. If you look at my photo, the screw on the right is still too far out. It needs to be flush against the leg. Other than that, everything works great. Having a digital display to set the resistance is great, it's not too big and its light & easy to move. We have a low ceiling in our basement, which was a concern, but the eliptical is low to the ground. We definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Don't get this, you'll regret it
Style: Electric
I ordered this TWICE and was disappointed both times. Long review ahead, buckle up. *** The first time: I looked at the the reviews of all the ellipticals in this price range and settled on this one and ordered it with the assembly service. The delivery people did not call or text me beforehand as the assembly service description says they do, but everything was going smoothly UNTIL the assembly people realized the computer was broken AFTER they were about 75% done with the assembly. So then they took everything apart, put it back in the box, refused the delivery on my behalf, and took it away. I got a call from Amazon customer support a while later and I explained what happened and they refunded the item. *** The second time: I reordered the same elliptical despite my better judgement because I assumed the first one was just a one-off defective item, and I ordered it with the assembly service again. This time the assembly people did call before coming to my apartment and they checked that the parts were not broken before they started assembling... or so they said. One of them kept bragging about how he's really good at assembling ellipticals and how it's really easy for him. The same guy kept saying things like "whoa I almost forgot that!" or "wow that was really stupid of me!" the entire time. So anyway, they finished assembling it and I tried it out in front of them. It felt kind of unstable and when I mentioned this to them, they just kind of shrugged and said it's how it's supposed to be. So then they left and 1 minute into me trying out the elliptical: the right foot pedal just falls off. I realized that something was up with both foot pedals and the right one especially would start sliding off after taking even a single step. I called Amazon customer support immediately and the lady on the phone said it's not possible for the two assembly people to come back but because of Amazon's "happiness guarantee", she said someone would come by to take a look at the elliptical soon and she would reach out to me with information within 24-48 hours. Cool. So I waited and: nothing. I call Amazon customer support again and they're just like "the ticket has been created, this is very unusual that it hasn't been addressed within 24 hours, we don't know what's going on, please wait." So then I wait and again: nothing. This happened 2 more times: waiting, calling Amazon customer support and explaining the entire thing again, being shuffled between departments only to be sent to some incredibly unhelpful representative with nothing to say besides "the ticket has been created, you need to wait." The third time I called, the representative just flat out told me he didn't know what to do and asked ME if I could speak to his manager for him - what on earth??? After all this nonsense, I was just sick of looking at this elliptical and thinking about all the money and time I had wasted on it so instead of waiting any more, I just called them again but this time to just return the damn thing. The representative on the phone appeared really helpful at first - he sent me a return pickup request form for a shipping company called Pilot and told me what to fill in. Then he said Pilot will contact me 2-4 hours after submitting the form. So I submitted the form and... again, nothing. And I resubmitted twice. And still nothing. This time I called the Pilot shipping company directly and they told me they never even received the form. They also said that I couldn't use dashes, asterisks, etc. and I was only supposed to fill in the required fields - the Amazon agent had failed to tell me any of this and the answers he told me to use did have dashes in them. So I resubmitted the form with only the required fields and no dashed and a little more than 4 hours later, I got a confirmation with a pickup appointment. If only that was the end of the story. Later, I get a call from Pilot's local station confirming the pickup appointment (I had selected 12-3 pm and they took it upon themselves to change it to 11-3 pm which was no biggie but umm) but the lady on the phone tells me their company doesn't pick up ASSEMBLED ellipticals. Obviously this didn't make sense since their pickup request form had an option to select if the item was assembled or not and obviously, I selected assembled (the Amazon agent who sent me the form was also fully aware the elliptical was assembled and unpackaged). So now I'm worried about what's going on here and I call Amazon again and they talk to Pilot and tell me that Pilot needs Amazon's approval to disassemble the elliptical during pickup and that it will take Amazon 72 hours to send over the approval after which Pilot will reschedule the pickup appointment. I wait 72 hours and predictably... nothing. I call Pilot and they tell me they still haven't received Amazon's approval. I call Amazon YET again and they shuffle me through a couple of departments until they get to the department that deals with Pilot pickups and the agent tells me he's never heard of this approval business and Pilot never needs it for pickups. Huh. So after 50 minutes on the phone this agent tells me he's escalated this to his manager and someone from his department will 100% send over the approval to Pilot by the end of the day and send me an email update. Unsurprisingly, they didn't do any of that! But by this point, it was already time for the originally scheduled pickup appointment which had thankfully never been cancelled, and two people from Pilot came to my apartment and picked up the elliptical. The original appointment confirmation had said 1 person and I was worried because it would have been impossibly hard for one person to carry out a fully assembled elliptical by themselves but thankfully they sent 2 people. This was on Friday and apparently the elliptical will be delivered Amazon on October 21 - at this point, I'm just hoping Amazon stops messing around and just gives me my money back. Oh and the Pilot people still called me later that day to say they didn't get Amazon's approval at which point I had to inform THEM that THEIR company had already picked up the elliptical earlier that day and the garbage they had told me about their company not picking up assembled items was utter nonsense... they apologized but that apology didn't give me back my time or sanity that I had lost in dealing with Amazon and Pilot customer support. Oh by the way, the Sunny Health & Fitness Support was just as unhelpful. The assembly helpers took the tools included with the elliptical with them so I couldn't even try to fix whatever was wrong with the elliptical. I contacted Sunny to ask for the tools and they just said no, buy your own. Then I asked them how to fix the issue and they told me the bushings might be missing or damaged, go check and send us your info. I did that and sent them the info and did they respond with "yes, our product quality control is garbage, here is a replacement/refund/product support"? Nope, they just send me even more questions - look at this, take a picture of that, confirm whether the issue is this. Because it's totally the customer's job to be an expert on the mechanics of how ellipticals are constructed and how they work, and that it's MY responsibility to figure out how to fix a $390 elliptical that falls apart right after it is assembled in a service that I paid $60 for. *** This review is more of a rant than anything but the moral of the story is: don't get this elliptical because it will probably be damaged, and don't have any faith in Amazon, Pilot or Sunny Health & Fitness Customer Support because they're all useless. ... show more
