  • Great product for the price
Style: 02-Magnetic Rower pro
I've had this rower for a little over a week and have used it almost every day. Mine has been as quiet as I could possibly have hoped for at this price point. It is significantly quieter than my bike trainer which allows me to work out before the family gets up. Looking at the product in person, I don't really know how other's are getting a noise that a lubricant can't fix. Assembly was pretty straight forward with all required tools included as part of the kit. Some of the print is a bit small in the pictures but if you've ever put something together out of a box it shouldn't be too difficult. Just as the pictures show, it can easily be flipped on end and easily rolled or stored. It seems like it would be fairly stable in this position but if you store it on carpet and have kids or a dog you might consider a strap to hold it upright. The resistance levels give a really good range for your workout. I've only maintained at the 6 and 7 levels (out of 8) for my 30+ minute rows. The feet straps seem a little cheap but so far have held up well. They would be easy to replace with a new Velcro strap if they broke. My only complaint is the the display devise. It seems to significantly undercount calories as compared to my fitness app. By the time I hit 36 minutes and 500 calories on my fitness app, the display was only showing between 25-30% of that total. I hold a heartrate of about 165 beats per minute for most of my workout and being in pretty good shape leads me to think the real total is closer to what my app is showing. Add this to the fact that the timer is off by over 30 seconds at the end of my workout as compared to my app and I'm leaning towards the display not really providing good, accurate data. The only thing it seems to do well is the row count. Taken all together I'd say this rower is about as good as you could hope for at this price point. It's quite, easy to assemble, stores and moves easily if you need it to, and has a good resistance range that provides a smooth workout. The only let down is the digital display which, for me, doesn't change the functionality. ... show more

  • Great machine at this price point
Style: 02-Magnetic Rower pro
Easily assembled. Quiet and smooth. At my age (late 50s) a full body workout that's easy on the joints is ideal, and this rowing machine provides exactly what I was looking for. And I love that you can store it on end! The only thing close to negative for me personally is the seat. I just finished my first workout, and didn't last as long as I'd hoped because of the seat. I've read where others have purchased a gel pad, so I'll be hunting one of those down. ... show more

  • Excellent low-end rower. Some quality control issues.
Style: 02-Magnetic Rower pro
Style 02 Magnetic PRO I bought this machine eighteen months ago to replace a Sunny Health and Fittness that I was disenamoured of. I have used it an hour a day (three x 20-min sets) pretty much daily since then. I consider it a good value for money. It can be somewhat delicate, and there are definite quality control issues, but customer support is excellent. The seat mounts on a little truck that moves on nylon rollers. The rollers give a smooth ride, but are very sensitive to dust and debris. I have dry skin, and if I flake onto the bar, I can tell it immediately I start rowing -- it feels like a washboard road. So I keep a towel next to the machine and wipe down the bar before and after each session. I also found the first four feet of tape tends to rub against the frame if I'm not careful, and this leads to shredding of the tape body. Someday it will wear through. There were two major quality control issues. First, their paint department left a sharp, four-inch long ridge of paint along the top. This chewed up one of the soft nylon rollers, and made the ride extremely uncomfortable. I contacted the company through Amazon and they sent a replacement roller set right away. It was but the work of a day and a half to tear down the roller box and replace the rollers that had been damaged. I suppose I could have sent back the bar and gotten a new one, but I didn't want the hassle, so I trimmed the paint with a razor blade and buffed it more or less smooth. Second, one of the holes for the bolts that hold the foot rests was drilled about 15 degrees off from horizontal. It would still take a bolt, but it was canted compared to the others. This had limited impact on use of the footrest, and since the only possible fix would be to return the whole 32kg rig to China and wait for a replacement, I decided to live with it. The only drawback is that the bolt is stressed unnaturally and has a tendency to break after eight or nine months -- I'm on my second replacement. Note: The bolts are Metric Grade 8.8, a medium quality carbon steel. I'm going to try the tougher, and more expensive, 12.9 grade and see how that works out. Both bolts broke with about an inch sticking out of the hole. I used an $18 DeWill Broken Bolt Remover (from Amazon) and they came right out. Having listed my major issues with the rower, let me go on to minor ones. The seat is a little hard, and gets uncomfortable after a while -- the fact that I weigh just over 230lb may have something to do with it. I bought a 2K Fit Rowing Machine Seat Cushion (Model 2), originally for the Concept 2 rower. It straps onto the existing seat, and is much more comfortable. The data display seems to be the low-end industry standard. It's the same as that on the Sunny. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the higher end models, but it does give you the three basics: time (in minutes, rolling over at 100), strokes, and distance (in miles, not meters). It also gives you less helpful things like calories (useless, since it doesn't know how much I weigh or how old I am), and total strokes (of everyone who has used the machine, with no way to differentiate). As with the Sunny version, the labels on the frame don't match the actual order on the screen. Despite all of the above, I really like this rower. It sits out of the way against the family room wall, just in front of the TV. All I have to do is swing the end out, turn on a 26min anime episode, and I'm ready to row. It's quiet, and it has a good range of pull settings. In the last nine months I've put around 300,000 strokes on it, call it a thousand strokes per day. UPDATE: Amazon lumps both the magnetic and the water versions under this ID. Water version dimensions are quite different from the magnetic, and some of the information in the blurb is magnetic only. For example, the magnetic version DOES NOT work with the Kinomap bluetooth app, only the water version does. Be sure you are reading the right review. ... show more

  • Good quality for the money.
Style: 02-Magnetic Rower pro
I generally only read one or five star reviews. I'm giving the rowing machine a five as the quality seems very good, sometimes too good. I'm 6' 2", 215 pounds and it accommodates my size with no difficulty. It's quiet, but heavy--which may not be a bad thing. The company painted all the fasteners, even those with allen-type heads. The problem with the paint is that it coats the inside of the head, making it difficult to insert the supplied allen wrench, but as long as you have a variety of allen wrenches, you can find one that fits--not a big deal. The unit sits very low to the ground; that's fine for younger folks, but at 80 years old with two knee replacements, it sat far too close to the floor. The fix was simple: I had two plywood boxes that are four inches high. I sat the legs of the unit on top of the boxes, which of course, raised the unit, making it much easier to mount. The slide action was very smooth and quiet, and I was able to fully extend my legs with each pull. The range of the resistance seems more than adequate: the low ends is an easy pull; the high end is very difficult for me. I like the rowing machine over a stationary bike as you work your arms and legs, and I think it's a better workout. I'd buy it again or recommend it to a friend. ... show more
