Chair arrived with a warped back. Shipping box was is good condition. Based on the scuff on the bottom, this was probably returned and repackaged. I wish I had checked before assembling; getting the gas cylinder out of the seat is a PIA.

20 years ago I bought a used Steelcase for $100. The joints squeak and the fabric is gross but it is still worth every nickel of what I paid. I could have it refurbished for half the cost of a new chair but I wanted to try the mesh. The Karman is sleek, stylish, and comfortable. Is it worth $1,200 — Probably not. But I do like the mesh. It is aesthetically pleasing, has a non-obstructive quality, almost transparent. Whether light means flimsy is yet to be determined. If I thought it was flimsy, I would have sent it back already. Will it last 20 years — Probably not. The twisty arm rests are kind of phony but not a deal breaker. All said, It is a really nice chair and very comfortable. I keep 1 star in reserve because I shelled out $1200 with a certain expectation of quality and, after a couple weeks, I am not convinced it measures up. Does this represent the next generation of U.S. made products? I hope not. With or without the chair, next week, the box has to go! ... show more

Chair was incredibly comfortable and loved it. Right around a year in it malfunctioned and broke. Steelcase customer service is terrible and the chair is broken after just a year, and it is impossible to warranty with Steelcase ignoring calls and emails. Expected more, especially from Steelcase.

This chair is 100% carbon neutral, is a chair with a really amazing quality and it’s not just a designer chair. All Steelcase products are tested to be ergonomic and durable. Plus, the chair looks beautiful. I would pay more than $1000 for a chair that I know it will last many many years and that takes care of my body when seating for a long period of time. ... show more

Bought this chair 2 years ago 'ready to ship' from steelcase direct, it broke after a year and I got a replacement. Now I'm hoping for a second replacement because this $1,100 chair struggles to last a year before breaking in some new fun way. Maybe the pricing is justified if they send me a new one every year for a decade, yikes. Comfort and other things are fine but I would not recommend this chair to anyone ... show more

Very poor quality. I've had my Karman high back for about 8 months now, and the back has snapped. There appear to only be two very small attachment points, made out of plastic of course, to attach the back to the frame. Additionally, Steelcase isn't in a hurry to do anything about it. They have to submit a ticket to their "quality team" for review, which takes "usually 3-5 business days" but not guarantees on that. Then after that, if it's "approved" they'll figure out what to do from there. So, what am I supposed to sit on to work until then? Steelcase is supposed to be a "premium" product but this clearly isn't, and the support isn't premium either. ... show more
