Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews for the used Herman Miller chair on Amazon present a mixed perspective, highlighting the chair's exceptional comfort and ergonomic support as its key strengths. Customers appreciate the chair's ability to support the body correctly and provide relief from discomfort during long working hours. However, there are concerns regarding the condition of the refurbished items, with some chairs arriving with worn parts, faulty functionality, or noticeable usage marks.

Pros

  • 👍 Exceptional comfort and ergonomic design supports the body well.
  • 🎉 Mostly easy assembly with tools and instructions provided.
  • 🌟 Addition of aftermarket headrests available for enhanced comfort.
  • ⏰ Reliable delivery times for most customers.

Cons

  • ❗Condition of the chair can vary, with some receiving heavily used items.
  • 🔧 Possible additional costs for replacing faulty parts or tools for assembly.
  • 🧐 "Fully loaded" description may not meet everyone's expectations or lacks clarity.
  • 💸 Restocking fee and return shipping costs can apply, adding risk to the purchase.

Should I Buy It?

The Herman Miller chair offers unparalleled comfort and ergonomic support, making it a potentially valuable investment for those prone to discomfort from prolonged sitting. However, the variance in the condition of refurbished models means buyers should proceed with caution. If you're willing to potentially deal with some imperfections and the hassle of returns or additional purchases for parts, this chair could significantly increase your work-from-home comfort. Otherwise, you might want to consider purchasing new or directly from a verified retailer for guaranteed quality and satisfaction.

  • Back Saver - Good Value - Good Seller
It was with weeks of research that I finally decided to pull the trigger on a used Herman Miller on Amazon. Part of the reason I bought from Amazon was the ability to use gift cards I already had. The chair was described as "fully loaded" and it seems to do all of the basic features, I've seen videos with at least one other adjustment that this chair does not have. I wish "fully loaded" had been described better, but I'm not claiming to be an expert on Herman Miller so I won't count that against the seller. It did not have the upgraded lumbar support, but it also didn't necessarily claim to. "Fully Loaded" is a matter of interpretation, I guess. The chair arrived via FedEx Ground. Delivery window was quoted March 3-11th and it arrived March 10th. It spent about a week at the "label created" phase but again, the chair arrived on time. It was mostly assembled, all I had to do was screw the back on, not difficult. The screws and alan wrench and instructions were all included and easy to access. I watched a few YouTube assembly videos to be sure I was doing everything right. The chair is incredibly comfortable, not in a plush way, but in a 'supports you in all the right ways' way. It takes some time to adjust it for your individual body and sitting style. I'm still fiddling with it, but yesterday was the first day in a long time where I was able to sit/work all day and not be in excruciating pain at the end of the day. This chair sits you upright as well as it rocks you back. I need to be able to rock back to shift the weight off my spine, this chair is the gold standard for a reason. I also purchased an after market headrest from Atlas. Look at YouTube videos for reviews on this headrest. It was designed by a Herman Miller engineer, attaches easily, and has the exact same mesh fabric as the chair. It's an exact match (which was important to me) My previous objection to the Aeron was the lack of a headrest - this addition makes it the perfect chair for me. Note that this chair is the "Classic Aeron" (which isn't made anymore) but the condition was good and I don't regret the investment at all. ... show more

  • Not as advertised!
I had my 11 year old put this chair together and he said Dad I don't think this is a very good chair the pieces don't fit together very well and the components don't work right. He was correct, it's clearly refurbished and not of high quality especially the arm rest and head rest. I have to keep messing with the headrest because it did not fit correctly and realized it was basically a piece of junk and literally kept falling off. The arm rests are also loose and floppy. I would not recommend. Save your money and buy the real one. ... show more

  • If you are hesitating, take the leap- your back and neck will thank you.
Just like many others, I was hesitant purchase this 'out of box' Herman Miller even with a price tag less than half the price of a brand new model. From reviews, it seemed it was a gamble whether the chair would be just like new or heavily used and possibly broken. I was encouraged to check out these out of box listings by a family member who bought the exact same and could not stop praising the excellent condition it came in and how it instantly resolved their terrible neck and shoulder pain, which I had also begun to suffer from badly. Opting for the size B with included headrest, I hit purchase and crossed my fingers. The chair arrived much sooner than estimated and I will warn the box is VERY heavy. The Fedex guys had trouble carrying it up the stairs to my apartment. It came mostly fully assembled with three pieces- the base/seat, chair back with lumbar, and optional headrest, and was easy enough to assemble with the included instructions and some easily searchable reference videos online. I would honestly not be able to tell this apart from a brand new product, and so far it already works like a dream once adjusted with the various height and tilt mechanisms. If you are on the fence about this purchase, I say go for it! ... show more

  • Not "Open Box" also headrest is aftermarket.
The Chair is in excellent condition. If some of the decals on the knobs and whatnot weren't half worn off and the left armrest didn't have way too much play in it, I'd swear it was an "open box" item. Came very well packaged and in working order. Assembly was as simple as attaching the back with four bolts with the supplied allen key, and then putting the aftermarket headrest on, this requires a phillips head screwdriver and the screw is very cheap. The headrest also pops and creaks and is just cheap feeling. Everything else about the chair is damn near perfect. At the price I'm not dissatisfied. Comfort wise the Aeron lives up to it's reputation. Also understand that buyer pays return shipping plus 15% restocking fee if the item returned is damaged or in any other condition than shipped. ... show more
