🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Many found this chair to be a good basic option for the price, with reviews complimenting its comfort during extended usage. However, some buyers reported that assembly could be challenging, requiring two people for best results, and that it might not be well-suited to taller or larger individuals. Additionally, some reviewers mentioned that the back of the chair was devoid of cushioning, which some resolved by adding their own padding.

Pros

  • 👍 Memory foam pad can be added for extra comfort

Cons

  • 👎 One buyer reported that the chair started to sink after 3 months

Should I Buy It?

If you need a basic chair that is comfortable for extended use and are able to assemble it, this product has good value for its price. However, if you are taller or larger, or need a chair with a fully cushioned back, you might want to consider other options.

Honest review/4 years with this chair/second purchase of this chair
Color: Black
I'll tell you what, I bought this chair 4 years ago and yes, many of the one star reviews are true, the chair does rip apart, it does get slightly uncomfortable, it does have little ergonomic features, it's casters aren't great, and it doesn't have lumbar support. But believe me when I tell ya it can take a beating. I put this chair into the deepest pits of hell and it held up for 4 years. I literally laid on my back in this chair some days, criss cross applesauce religiously, lifted myself up on the arms (I weigh 180), did this chair so dirty and ask me how it broke. Since I sat criss cross applesauce it pushed out the arms overtime and eventually came loose on the bracket that holds the arm to the back. 4 YEARS OF CRISS CROSS APPLESAUCE AND IT JUST NOW FAILED. Ill tell ya what, I didn't rarely use this chair either, I'm a degenerate, many 14 hour days in this chair. Get a seat cushion and lumbar support and live with the rip, if you don't abuse it like I did than it'll last you forever. I bought a furmax at a similar price point before this and with the way I abused it I swear to you it broke in less than a month, if you don't believe me you can look at my review on it 4 years ago lol. I bought this one cause I like to lean back and the arms being connected to the back gave it good support. Seriously guys, if you can make it work and just want to buy a cheap chair to get ya by this is the way to go. It isn't a five star chair because of what I mentioned earlier but it isn't a one star chair forsure. Edit: It is a five star chair, they've updated the design from having internals made out of wood to being a full metal frame. This means that the way my previous chair broke will not happen again, extending its durability. If you want a chair that can take a beating at this price point then I truly think your getting a chair well worth your money. Because of this im updating my review to 5 stars. ... show more

So far 2 years

2 years of heavy daily use and still like new! ⚙️I love this office chair so much! I have used it every single day for two years, and it is holding up beautifully. It rolls incredibly easily and the height adjustment works smoothly going up or down without any issues. A fantastic, super durable purchase that is perfect for anyone working from home! ... show more

Comfortable Desk Chair, but Assembly Takes Some Effort
Color: Black
I picked up this Amazon Basics mid-back desk chair for everyday use, and once it's set up, the chair does its job just fine. The padded seat and backrest provide decent support for sitting at a desk, and the armrests are placed at a comfortable height. However, calling it "easy assembly" is a bit of a stretch—it's not that easy to put together, and lining up all the bolt holes for the armrests and seat cushion takes extra patience and muscle. I hold back five stars because there is definitely room for improvement in the hardware alignment and assembly instructions, but overall, it's a solid, functional office chair for the price. ... show more

The Beige is where it’s at!

For some reason, the beige or “white” color of this chair is priced about $20 less than its brown and black counterparts. While I can understand the appeal of a darker, more traditional office chair, I personally enjoy the bit of contrast this lighter color brings to my setup. Against my all-black desk and monitor, it adds a small but noticeable touch of brightness that feels refreshing without being distracting. Build Quality & Assembly This chair is sturdy, well-constructed, and easy to assemble. From the moment I unboxed it, the materials felt solid—there’s no flimsy or cheap sensation when sitting in it for extended periods. Assembly was straightforward, and from the time I received the package at my apartment door to the moment I had it fully set up, no more than 20 minutes had passed. All excess packaging was easily stowed back into the box, making cleanup just as seamless as the setup process. Comfort & Adjustability After two weeks of use, I can confidently say the cushions strike a great balance between firmness and comfort. They are not so soft that they lose support over time, nor so rigid that they cause discomfort during long work sessions. As someone who stands at 5’9”, the height adjustment is perfect for my setup, and I believe it would accommodate a wide range of users comfortably. I made the switch from a four-year-old chair of a similar style, which had developed persistent squeaking and no longer held its height adjustment. The difference is night and day—this chair remains silent, stable, and supportive throughout my workday. Value & Longevity While I cannot yet provide a long-term durability review, I believe that at this price point, even if this chair were to last only two years, it would still feel like a worthwhile investment. Compared to significantly more expensive alternatives, it delivers a high-quality experience at a fraction of the cost. What impresses me most is that this does not feel like a budget compromise. Instead, it feels like an intelligently designed, well-priced option that blends affordability, modern aesthetics, and practical comfort into a single package. The adjustability in height and tilt ensures that you can fine-tune it to your preference, making it adaptable for different workflows and sitting styles. Final Recommendation For those seeking a comfortable, stylish, and budget-friendly desk chair, I would highly recommend this model. It provides the kind of comfort, stability, and professional appearance that you would expect from something at a higher price point, while still being easy on both your body and your wallet. ... show more

Another Amazon Basics Great Value For The Budget & Simple-Minded
Color: Cream
This replaced a second hand desk chair which was losing all of it's adjustability options. And though the seat back holder was metal, it was starting to crack, and had me leaning back more and more, so I had to get a new chair. Which brought me to this chair for my home computer desk... Not as many adjustment options on this one (just the raise/lower and the slight recline lock on/off), but I wasn't expecting that on this budget-minded chair. At least the maximum pitch of the recline option is on par with your average airline seat, which is far better than my older, rickety chair. The entire chair is upholstered in a easy-to-clean leather-like fabric (no mesh anywhere), which I believe will survive scratching cats than meshy fabrics. The back support is comfy-sturdy, but has an accessible inner cavity (more on this later) and the seat is also cushioned well. The legs and the base are all metal, including the five leg coverings. The plastic sections that shroud the pneumatic lift are flimsier plastic sheaths. The armrests are non-adjustable and a bit shoter than my old chair. Minimal softer plastic-like cushioning on the armrests, but I'm fine with that. My only real issue about this chair is the cheap plastic armrest caps which cover the bolt assemblies between the armrests and the seats and seat backs -- they randomly pop off -- but it shouldn't be an issue unless you are anal about the cosmetic look about the chair. Assembly was fairly easy, with all the tools, nuts, bolts and screws were all grouped and labled in a sturdy "blister pack" (think OTC cold capsule packaging at the drug store). *** ABOUT THE BACKREST CAVITY -- NOTE *** This is where Amazon Basics saves packaging space. Your delivery box may look a bit on the smaller side. Don't worry! Much of the chair assembly (legs, tools, caps,etc...) is stored INSIDE the backrest during shipping. All you need to do is to unzip the contents from that cavity and voila! Everything is there. There should be red ribbons and/or strips RED tape to remind you the essentials are zipped up in the cavity. Once everything is out of the inside of the backrest, you theoretically can add more cushioning, back massager or similar -- although I haven't needed to do it yet. 4 stars due to the flimsy plastic caps and lift sheaths. But again, that is just cosmetic stuff and not durability issues. ... show more

It's what you expect for $80...and nothing more.
Color: Brown
The assembly is easy, but it does take 30-45 minutes. The hardest part is aligning the back to the arm, which is easier if you don't tighten any of the armrest screws until they are all in place. I too was worried about the back being hollow, so I took another reviewer's advice and put a smaller Harbor Freight blanket folded to size in there. It provided extra padding and you can't tell once it's zipped up. This isn't the only chair that ships with the parts in the back cushion (no padding), so it wasn't a deal-breaker for me, but I would probably avoid it in the future. It does feel like you are sitting forward/more upright than what is normal, but that could be because my old chair was too far back and I just got used to it. I'll have to wait and see if I get used to it, but it is probably better for my back since it forces me to sit upright, although not as comfortable. The cushion is padded enough, but you still kind of bottom out on it, but not so much that it's hard on your backside. Let's face it, I bought it because it was cheap, and you get what you pay for. If you really want a super soft chair with all the adjustments, it's going to cost you $250 and up. This chair looks nice, is sturdy enough and doesn't creak like my old chair did, but I don't expect it to last more than 5 years before the covering starts to wear and it starts falling apart. I'm 6'2"/230 lbs and it works, but isn't the most comfortable chair I've ever sat in (not the worst either). It's going to feel different for different people, so you can't judge by one review whether this is the chair for you. The quality and looks are okay, but since I'm going to be in this for 8 hours a day, I don't love the comfort. Maybe I'm just used to my old chair and will get used to it in time, but it's average overall, so I give it 3 stars. I think it's better for shorter/lighter people. As far as the reviews with broken lifts or ripped cushions, either they were too heavy for the chair or they got a bad one shipped to them...I wouldn't worry about that too much. My average review is mostly because of the comfort and lack of adjustments. In hindsight, I'd probably pay more for a chair that allows me to adjust the angle of the back to the seat instead of this 'one size fits all' approach. ... show more

It’s been about 9 months and this chair is still holding up well. Very comfortable and it allows me to actually sit up straight while gaming. Before getting this chair, my posture was god awful. 😂😂

18 Months of Mediocrity: This Chair Is Falling Apart and So Is My Patience
Color: Black
Let me save you the time, money, and lower-back regret: do not buy this chair. At first glance, like a gas station breakfast sandwich, the Amazon Basics "Classic Puresoft PU" office chair looks harmless enough. A decent price, clean lines, and a name long enough to sound like someone tried really hard. But don’t be fooled. After living with this chair for 18 months, I can confidently say that calling it “basic” is generous. This thing is a slow-motion ergonomic tragedy. I'm not even a heavy user...this chair sits at a home desk, not a call center and yet it’s falling apart like a toddler’s Lego tower. Comfort: For the first week or two, the chair is passably comfortable. Then the padding compresses, the seat flattens like a pancake at a truck stop diner, and every hour feels like you're being punished for a crime you didn’t commit. The back support? Non-existent. I’d get more lumbar support leaning against a wall. Sitting in this chair for more than an hour at a time feels like penance and no amount of adjusting will save you. Adjustability: Sure, it adjusts up and down. That’s about where the good news ends. The tilt mechanism is laughable — either it’s locked upright like a church pew, or it reclines with all the grace and stability of a shopping cart with a broken wheel. The tension knob? Pure decoration. Turning it does about as much as yelling at a thunderstorm. Durability: After only 18 months, mine is literally falling apart. The seat cushion is collapsing. One of the casters feels like it’s about to snap off. The armrests creak under minimal pressure. It feels wobbly, unstable, and generally unfit for long-term use. This chair was designed to die young. Style: Deceptively Bland It tries to look sleek and minimal, but really it just screams “budget bulk order.” There’s nothing classic about this thing, and the Puresoft name is a masterclass in ironic branding — it’s about as “pure” and “soft” as a gravel driveway. Are there any Pros? I Guess It Technically Exists * It was easy to assemble. * It did, technically, hold my body off the floor for over a year. * That’s it. That’s the list. Final Verdict: If you're looking for a short-term chair for a rental office you never plan to return to, or maybe need to furnish the background of a Zoom call, maybe this will do. But if you actually plan to sit in it regularly? Don’t do it. You’re better off buying a decent secondhand chair on Craigslist. Or honestly, sitting on a milk crate. This chair is a monument to the bare minimum. It’s uncomfortable, poorly built, aging faster than unrefrigerated mayonnaise and destined for the landfill before its second birthday. 1/5 stars. Would give zero if I could. ... show more
