  • Sturdy, Sharp, Very Comfy.
Color: Brown
I weigh slightly over the weight listed and was nervous with the chair. Don't be. This seat is studry like an iron bench. It is soft and feels like a million bucks. The mix of cloth and leather-like material keep it cool enough to not feel hot. The arms are solid and thick. The tilt lets you lean back to a solid 65 degrees or so. I use an extra throw pillow for more back support myself but it is still nice on the back. The headrest slides up and down. I was confused how to lock it in position. My secretary figured out that she could put the hex key included, into a hole under the leather to lock it in place. The casters are plastic but seem to work fine. After using it two months there is no strange tilt to either side, no squeeking, and no loss of padding. My only wish is that the chair would lock in more incraments between back and foreward. If you have a handfull of big chairs in yoru cart, shopping for the right one as I was...you really can't lose with this. Looks just as pictured. ***update 5 years later*** I retired the chair today. Still performs but over the last month the gas piston won’t hold up. The bonded leather started chipping off and it seems started on the arms and headrest at the same time pretty aggressively. I wonder if someone used a cleaner on it or something. Looking for a new favorite chair now. If anyone wants me to review theirs let me know. ... show more

  • Excellent Chair
Color: Black
My husband is over 500lbs. He is a gamer and sits for a good part of his day and night as he has suffered injuries that prevent him from moving much. He tends to fall asleep in his chair often and will lay back in it for hours. He has had this chair for the past 4 years and it has withstood all. My children even climb on him while he sits in this chair and there hasn't been an issue. This has been an excellent chair! ... show more

  • Very comfortable chair for a tall user.
Color: Black
After some back and neck problems left me in a great deal of pain over the holidays, I finally had to admit the old chair was just too small for me and I needed to splurge on one actually designed for a very tall user (6'8"). This chair definitely fits that description: a bit pricey compared to the one it replaces, but it's the first time since I was a pre-teen that I've been able to sit in a chair with a headrest that doesn't stop somewhere below my neck. The seat is roomy, and high enough that I can easily sit up straight. Assembly was easy enough for me, a big, tall, aging, out-of-shape guy, to complete alone in a half-hour or so; the seat back might require a little attention when bolting it down to the seat bottom, as the seat cushioning prevents the bolt holes from lining up easily, but I didn't find it especially difficult to get the alignment close enough to start the bolts without much of a struggle, and after I got them started, the whole thing tightened into place with the included hex/Allen wrench pretty easily. I would imagine that the elderly, infirm or injured, and petite ladies would probably appreciate some help with assembly and assembly would certainly be easier and safer with help, as the chair's components are heavy and awkward, and if you're not very handy with tools that included hex/Allen wrench might be a pain to use (a good hex bit and ergonomic driver would be a huge improvement during assembly in terms of ergonomics, comfort, and leverage), but assembly was pretty easy for me and I suspect most do-it-yourselfers can manage it alone just fine, and even better with an assistant. There doesn't seem to be anything special about the controls, etc. compared to my previous chair, with one exception: the headrest adjustment wasn't particularly intuitive; if fully extended, it drops down easily to the lowest setting, and It took me a few minutes to work out that it stays extended if I don't extend it fully (there is no mention of this in the instructions that came with the chair, and I don't think I've seen any obvious clarifications online yet.) Otherwise, the controls seem pretty generic: a dial under the front of the seat adjusts the reclining tension, and a lever under the right side of the seat can be lifted to allow the chair to rise if no weight is on the seat (stand up to operate it), and pull it horizontally away from the chair to unlock the vertical position and allow reclining, or push it horizontally toward the center of the chair to lock the seat upright. It doesn't seem to recline very far backward - only a few degrees of tilt, a bit less than I'm used to from my previous chair - but it's not uncomfortable, and I fully expect I'll get used to it. It's still new yet, and it's too early to say whether the chair will prove more durable than the one it replaced (a leather office chair in a similar style bought from the local Wally World several years ago - about 5-7 years with minimal maintenance seem to be the best those could do before the leather deteriorated and the hardware started breaking down), but this new chair certainly more comfortable for me, and all around seems like an upgrade to the chair it replaces. ... show more

  • Great at first but after a few weeks, the quality went down and now it makes a lot of noise...
Color: Brown
I was really excited to get this chair, as I am a big guy (but nowhere near 500lbs) and was finally going to buy a chair that can hold a large amount of weight. I originally owned a USED Herman Miller chair, that finally gave out after 5 years. Now that chair I bought from my old job during a flash sale they had where they were selling all their old stock. That chair had already been used for 3-4 years, then I used it for 5. The max weight on it was 350 yet it held on well. Long story short I looked for weeks hoping to find the right chair for me. I searched for a gaming chair at first but only 1 brand had a chair that held weight high enough to feel at ease. However, it was $400. I then noticed that there were many office chairs that had weight capacities of 500+, so then I focused my research on office chairs instead. This is where I found this Hercules series chair. The reviews were good so I gave it shot. The chair arrived well packaged and it took a bit over 30 minutes to build as it was a bit heavy and cumbersome. Nonetheless, the quality felt great, and when I first sat down, it felt terrific. It is super comfortable, don't get me wrong. Then 2 weeks passed.... After just a couple of weeks, the chair began to squeak. And boy does it squeak! It just seems to be getting louder and louder. I cannot move around without it sounding awful. I even tried oiling it a bit, tightening the bolts, and the noise persists. I just hate it, Another thing that is occurring is that the armrests are starting to wobble. Again, I tighten them, but I have to keep doing or they continue to get wobbly. This sucks too. Like I said before, I am nowhere near the limit and yet this chair sounds like it's years old after only a few weeks. The chair itself is beginning to tilt too. it's pretty depressing especially after dropping a few hundred $ on it. Sending it back would be a nightmare so I am kind of stuck with it... I don't see this chair lasting more than a year. This is what I am giving it a low review. The quality went down drastically and sending it back would suck major as I didn't keep the box (who would, the box was huge!). ... show more

  • Best value chair for a big guy.
Color: Black
I'm a very big guy. I'm 6'2 and about 350. This chair supports me, is incredibly comfortable and very durable and rugged and built very well. You will notice some minor tailbone fatigue after 8+ hours of sitting but honestly, if you sit for that long, you're going to have fatigue in any chair. This thing is worth every single penny. The back adjusts comfortably. When it's locked, I never feel like the reclining lock is going to fail on me and let me fall back. When it's unlocked, I feel very sturdy and stable leaning all of the way back in it. Would recommend to any of my fellow big and tall gentleman out there. ... show more

  • Solid, comfortable, looks great, a few complaints.
Color: Brown
UPDATE 7/28/24: By now, the "leather" (not!) is flaking off more than I care to keep up with by patching. UPDATE 4/20/20: By now, the wheels are making a godawful clicking/creaking noise whenever I roll the chair with my weight in it. Also I added some washers under the mount plate on the left side, but it only very partially fixed the tilt problem. UPDATE 3/17/20: I am taking an extra star off (from 4 to 3) because I've noticed that the chair is crooked. Not sure if it was always this way and I didn't notice initially, but it is noticeable now. The seat bottom is not parallel to the floor, causing me to lean to the left. To compensate I must scoot to the left side of the chair so there is more padding under my left side. Not sure how to fix other than disassemble and try adding some washers on one side under the seat where it is mounted to the base. Original post below. UPDATE 8/31/23: It is 4 years old now and the fake leather is flaking and peeling off in several places. Note to self: real leather only from now on. = = = Assembly took ~35 minutes and at times was a bit frustrating and required some muscle. For example I had to apply some force to get the arms aligned with the bolt holes on the seat bottom and back. Otherwise trouble free; the instructions were easy to follow. You only have to assemble it once, so this is really not that big of a deal. The chair itself looks great and the colors match the pictures quite well. It is every bit as sturdy and heavy as other posts have indicated. This thing is SOLID. The material looks nice even though obviously not real leather, and I do not detect very much of the PU-related odor that others have mentioned. Some, but not much at all. The chair is pretty comfortable. I am 6' tall and the seat bottom presses a bit against the back of my knees when my back is firmly against the seat back. In the bottom-most position my feet are flat on the floor with my knees bent 90 degrees. Any higher than this and my feet are dangling a bit. For these two reasons, I would not recommend this chair for anyone under 6'. My only complaints besides assembly are first, that the seat back is mounted just a bit too reclined (although I'm sure I will get used to it and never notice after a while), and second, the adjustable headrest slides right back down when you lift it up. I am only 6' tall so the bottom position is fine for me, but for taller people this could get annoying. ... show more

  • Comfortable beast of a chair fit for a king
Color: Black
This chair is not a Cadillac or a ford truck. There have been no cars built like this.. Maybe a tank. My 330lb dad (who recently broke his expensive chair from staples) described it as being built like a chinese built SKS rifle. This is actually a perfect description because while China has been selling brittle garbage we've been so accustomed to expecting, all the good solid steel and wood have been going into the SKS and this chair. I don't expect anyone reading this review to have any idea what the SKS is, so I put up some pictures of the thickness and quality of materials on this beast. That is a quarter being dwarfed by thick metals. The base is a solid chunk of chrome steel! It doesn't recline, but that is by design. It is built so sturdy I cannot shake the feeling it was built for someone very important and very heavy by a guy who wanted to make sure he didn't end up facing an SKS wielding squad. ... show more

  • It looks nothing like the photos shown and has poor quality control issues.
Color: Black
Honestly worse look and feel than the amazon basics chair it's replacing, hopefully built a little better but not off to a great start. The box came totally trashed and normally I'd blame the delivery company (UPS) but looking inside the box there is not packaging what so ever, just loose parts tossed in a box that was oversized, even for the back piece of the chair which is the largest so everything just bounced around and scratched and scraped everything unfortunately I cannot get the damage to show on the base because of the glare but it looks like someone took a grinder to it before the finish was applied so its nice and shiny and full of pits and scrapes. The cushion looks nothing the the photos in the black version and looks more like the brown and it also feels as if its stuffed with Styrofoam it gives a little but is pretty stiff. Most annoyingly the chair it's replacing has a huge lean to the left side and this one is leaning to the right. The instructions leave much to be desired going so far as to use the same part number for 2 different sets of screws and I am not sure what on earth the random numbers correlate to there are only 4 other pieces in the box. The wheels it came with are pretty cheap and stiff thankfully I ended up taking the wheels off my old chair that I replaced with skate wheels years ago and it moves much better now. Sadly the fake leather is a lot thinner than most I had hoped I expect it to start pealing faster than most cheap chairs. $300+ for a chair of this quality level is ridiculous. I do like the cloth edges in the more likely spots to crack and peal. Id honestly just skip this its not worth the hassle and disappointment. ... show more
