TLDR; It is of rock solid construction and is a simple -yet elegant- design. Looks beautiful. Performs even better. Well worth the money and more. The low down; I have been to plenty of hotels and resorts and lived in multiple states and even a different country and NEVER have I felt pressure from a shower like this! My wife and i love strong water pressure but it is impossible to find nowadays. I bought this hoping it would at least improve our low pressure situation enough to warrant $70 (instead of the normal $40 for a shower head from Walmart to help). Took the rubber ring out and carved out the plastic behind it with a small flat head screwdriver (you don't have to take it all out because the outside ring of plastic is still a larger diameter than the metal hole the water flows through to the shower head) before I even put it on. I wasn't expecting too much. Just hoping for a good pressure to rinse off and a decent spread so I'm not dancing around in the shower to keep wet. The old shower head (a cheap 'pressure increasing' one) was set at a certain height to keep the water in the right spot. Set this one to the same, turned on the faucet, slung the shower toggle up to test it out, and got half of the bathroom wet. It was SO powerful that the wind whipped up around me and my wife said she felt the air difference from across the bathroom the instant I turned it on. It hit the back of the shower so hard at the top that it splashed everywhere until I quickly pointed it down. It has a great spread of water (hits from my head to my butt from just a foot or two away) and is powerful enough to scratch your back and exfoliate dead skin. My wife won't even use it on the highest pressure setting because it stings a little on normal skin, much less sensitive areas. Pros: -Beautiful and durable. -Great spread. -Superb pressure (with the plastic out). Cons: -Unless you try it out with it facing pretty much straight down, you are probably going to clean up a mess the first time. -For those of us using shower curtains and liners: So powerful on the highest setting that it can make your heavy duty shower liner billow like a sheet on a clothes line in a good breeze.

Life's too short to take wimpy showers with cheap showerheads! I bought the Speakman 5 Jet: (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0028XHSHA/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1) several years ago and recently having moved we needed another showerhead in the new house. We took the 5 jet with us so now we have two Speakmans in the new house to compare. Some of the reviews on here complain about this showerhead not being strong enough. As far as I can see, the only way that could happen is they have lousy water pressure to begin with or they didn't take the water regulator out. We took the regulator out. (the black ring and the white thing) Just to comment on how ridiculous I think water regulators in showerheads are,...My opinion is that water regulators end up causing people to use even more water because it takes a lot longer to get rinsed off. Having had the 5 jet in our previous home that did not have great water pressure and then installing it in a home that does have great water pressure is definitely proof that this showerhead or any showerhead for that matter performs best with good water pressure to begin with. If anyone has found a showerhead that can perform miracles and create pressure out of lousy pressure I would love to know! There really is no comparison on the improvement of our old house verses this house, other than to say the shower experience went from good enough to invigorating. Now to compare the 5 jet verses 6 jet for those who are interested: Both showerheads are attached to a Multi-Pure shower filter: http://www.amazon.com/MultiPure-mpsffh-Shower-Filter/dp/B002ZP346U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367082517&sr=8-1&keywords=multi-pure+shower+filter (which by the way is fantastic) This will naturally slow the stream down a bit so I assume if they weren't attached to the filter, the spray would be even more powerful. They both give us a fantastic shower even with the filter slow down. I have to say honestly that I think the 5 jet in the above link may have even a bit more "zing" than this 6 jet. Maybe because there's one less jet to push water through? At nearly half the price you get a darn good shower, but the downside is that housing of the 5 jet feels like it's made of plastic whereas this Speakman s-2252 is not. I would say if that doesn't matter to you and you're on a tight budget, go with the other. If I had it to do over again I would still choose this one because it is solid and looks like it will last forever. I wanted to add that we leave both heads on the highest spray setting and don't care about using any of the other settings. They could have just as well left that feature off as far as we're concerned. I suppose maybe for rinsing hair out one of the other settings might be useful, but the high spray works great for that.

This is an amazing showerhead. I replaced a previous Speakman that only had 5 jets and the extra jets make a big difference! I'm glad I splurged and got this over the $50 versions. Install was super easy and the hardware is solid and very well made. I installed this and added a little shower wand. I wanted to buy the Speakman version but they won't sell it to me. I live in prison-state California where 1.75 is the max flow we can purchase. This faucet head is flowing well though and I highly recommend splurging for this quality showerhead.

I've always missed the old showering experience where I felt the water removing a superficial layer of skin with every shower. Recently, I decided to explore different options. I had a chance to try 3 different shower heads: Speakerman 2252, Aqua Elegante, and Delta A112 18.1M. The Delta one (not sure if I got the serial number right) is the shower head I got with my faucet combo. To be fair, it's rated at 1.8 GPM, where as the other two are 2.5 . It does an okay job with the restrictor removed (with the restrictor in, it's anemic), but still not enough. The Speakerman is a solid piece of craftsmanship. It is heavy and well made. It feels like it will last a lifetime. However, it wasn't my favorite. Perhaps this was my own lack of understanding, but "48 customizable sprays" made me think there were 48 different spray patterns. Nope, there is ONE spray pattern, and the dial allows you to adjust the strength of 48 streams of water. However, even at the maximum setting, the water pressure is only okay. It definitely dumps water and gets you soaked efficiently, but, if you're like me, you want to feel like you're being pressure washed, so it isn't enough. So, at the end of the day, not my shower head of choice. Now, if you like the wide, less concentrated water pattern, this one is an excellent choice. The Aqua Elegante has three different patterns (like most shower heads, it claims more, but I can only get three). With the rubber part of the restrictor out, the output is excellent. I have not felt the need to remove the entire restrictor valve or drill holes through it. The build quality is definitely inferior to the Speakerman line, but not bad. In the wide spray pattern, it is weaker than the speakerman. However, with the "massage" concentrated spray, it feels like heaven. This will peel paint off walls. Interesting thing I noticed. With the shower running, if I change the settings, the water starts out slightly weaker, with some water dripping inefficiently out of unused sprayers. However, if I turn the faucet fully off, then back on again without changing the spray setting, the pressure is at least 3 x stronger and no water dripping from the other unused sprays. Go figure.

I have to admit. I have a problem. I'm addicted to water pressure. Just can't live without it. And if high pressure showers are wrong, I don't wanna be right! My version of a successful shower is the peace of mind of knowing that when I step out, one full layer of epidermis has been thoroughly expunged. I live for the feeling of pure, unadulterated water power pressure washing everything away. So imagine my disappointment when my first ever house purchase, though full of water pressure potential, left something to be desired. The cleansing ability lay dormant, with no device present to harness this latent power. Undeterred, I searched until the instrument of my shower salvation was discovered. The Speakman S-2252 Anystream is one of those dying breeds that lives by the ages old yet dying creed, "Do one thing, and do it well." This shower head delivers power. Raw, unapologetic power. But that is something to be described a little later. The first thing you notice about this shower head is that, despite it's rather diminutive size, it is hefty. There is no mistaking whether this item is made of quality materials. Gravity and mass make sure of that. Solid brass, made to last. The second trait is simplicity. There is no rotary dial with 100 settings. There is simply a lever on the side that moves the 8 nozzles on the face of the head in and out. When moved in the nozzles "squeeze" the water, like your finger covering the end of a hose, giving you defined jets of water and higher pressure. When moved out the nozzles allow free flow of water. Less pressure, but much higher flow. The beauty is that even with such simplicity, the lever can be stopped anywhere you like to adjust streams and pressure to your liking. You really do have the option of "Anystream". Instructions for installation were included and were simple and clear. Like most shower heads, installation isn't rocket science, but if you've never done it before, the instructions make it pretty difficult to mess up. Also included was a small roll of Teflon tape. I was quite pleased with this, as I had misplaced my own roll. I also was pleasantly surprised to find that there is probably enough tape included for 3 installs, so the rest was thrown into the toolbox to be put to future use. Then, to the moment of truth. I turned on the shower and no leakage. But the pressure. Oh! The pressure! I hadn't even stepped into the shower, yet I knew I had found what I had been looking for. I could feel the rush of air as it moved out of the way of the water. I smiled. This was the moment I had been waiting for. I stepped in... I can only describe the shower experience with one word... Joy. My wife will testify to the fact that I was giggling like a schoolgirl the entire time. Like Michael Jordan clutching his first NBA championship trophy, I embraced the water as a long lost friend. This was what I had searched so long for. The perfect shower experience. When the nozzles of the head are turned out for full flow, it's like having someone continually pour buckets of water on your head. Need to rinse off some soap? Done. In an instant. There is no waiting here. But, when you really want to step to the next level, turn that lever all the way over and you will be met with something only a step below a fire hose. On its highest setting, the jets that flew from this shower head stung me. That's not an exaggeration. They literally stung. Some might not find that appealing. I, however, could do nothing but grin like the kid who just received his first bike. Am I satisfied with my purchase? Oh yes. This shower head is not for the faint of heart. But if you have the courage to enter the heart of darkness, you WILL emerge victorious. You will emerge refreshed. You may even be a new person. But one thing is sure. Your flesh will be cleansed. (One thing to note. As most shower heads do, this one came with a flow regulator pre-installed. It is a simple plastic piece fitted into the connector end of the head. If you are like me and don't enjoy feeling restricted in your shower taking, you will want to remove this piece. Of all the things that I tried, I would recommend a pick or pointed Phillips screwdriver and a hammer. After fiddling with it for a few minutes trying other methods, one good whack with the screwdriver on the inner edge of the plastic had it dislodged immediately. I am more than happy that I removed this piece. However, considering just how absurdly good this shower head is, I would suggest trying it with the regulator in place first. I would have to think that it will be more than capable even with governmental shackles on it. When I purchase another one of these for the guest bathroom I will most likely leave the regulator in at first to compare. I will try to remember to update this review at that time when I do.)
