  • Gym-Level Treadmill at Home - Great for Big People!
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
I'm a very large guy - tall, broad, and chubby. So when my wife and I went looking for a good treadmill, we realized quickly that we'd need something sturdy and professional. Moreover, I wanted incline features, foldability, and decent operating software. So far, this treadmill has been perfect. It feels exactly like a gym treadmill, with the same powerful motor, cushiony track, and feature-laden operating system. The motor is powerful enough to incline the treadmill while I'm standing on it, which is saying a lot. I prefer steep uphill walking to jogging as a way to get my heart rate up without the impact of running, so this was an essential piece of the puzzle for me. You get all the workout options you'd get at a gym, with pre-programmed workouts galore. I choose the user custom options, which allow you to build a program and save your information (height, weight, age) to accurately count calories burned. This has worked well so far, although it's a little tedious entering the information. My only other wish is a user profile option that would save just demographics data to apply to various workouts - but it's not a big deal for me since I basically do the same workout every day. The treadmill isn't silent, but it is very quiet. As far as extra features go, there is plenty of storage space on the treadmill, and the built-in speakers and fan are certainly very nice. Owning a treadmill at home is great entertainment-wise - no more sweaty earbuds! I just plug in my iPad and watch Netflix. It makes things nice and distracting. Don't expect to save much room by folding the treadmill up (maybe 8 or so sq. feet of floor space max). Also, it's pretty ugly folded, disappointing my wife. What the folding DOES allow is much easier mobility for the treadmill. The folding process and rolling process are very easy and don't require a ton of effort, which is definitely nice. Overall, I would change almost nothing about the treadmill. Assembly is a bit of a pain - plan for 1.5 hours and a LOT of carboard and styrofoam to get rid of...but what do you expect from a huge thing like this ordered on Amazon. The delivery time selection option worked smoothly for us, making things easy. My overall recommendation is to buy if you can afford, like the extra features, and especially if you're a larger individual and need that big powerful motor. It's REALLY helped me workout more, and it's truly a good investment in your health. ... show more

  • Very Satisfied with this Treadmill
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
Really happy with my choice of the Sole F85 treadmill. Been using it for about a month and no complaints so far. Delivery/Setup: it is really heavy - you need 2 people. Due to its weight though it is very sturdy to run on - feels solid. Kind of a pain to get some of the screws in but overall it went together pretty simple. Took my son and I maybe an hour to get it operational. Use: controls very easy to understand, big fonts and bright display. I like the programs (hill, fatburn, cardio, strength, interval) - you plug in the time you want to walk/run and the max speed you want to run during the program and it calculates and sets the rest including incline. That means you can gradually program your workouts as minimally as you want to start to get in shape and then increase your workouts in small increments when you are ready to go to the next level. If you go to the next level too soon, during your workout you can decrement the speed a click or two and it will recalculate the rest of the workout. You can create your own pattern with User1 and User2. The odometer doesn't show hundredths of a mile but there is a graphic 1/4 mile lap oval that has 26 parts so each lights up about every hundredth of a mile. I also like the cardio chest strap - your exact heartrate and % of max heartrate are displayed right on the console so you can keep an eye on it during your workout, especially how quickly it gets back to normal during your cool down. One cool thing about the console - during your workout you can select "Segment Time" on the display and it will countdown the time in each segment of your workout - letting you know how much time to the next speed and/or incline change. The fan and speakers are fine - nothing great but you are really just looking for a little sound and a little cool down during your workout. The incline/decline motor and the belt motor work great - smooth and quiet. NOTE: you cannot plug this in to a GFI outlet (e.g. your garage). It trips the breaker since it draws too much current. The foldup works good but it doesn't really get much smaller when you fold it up. The nice thing about foldup is you can then roll it around to wherever you want very easily. Overall, very happy with the product and expect to use it successfully for years to come. ... show more

  • THIS IS THE ONE!!!
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
If you're a big person (400 lbs & 6'5") like I am, this is the treadmill for you. I had been shopping for a treadmill for months but because of my size, I wasn't having much luck. All of the consumer grade machines out there had a weight capacity of only 300 to 350 lbs. I was losing hope then I found the Sole F-85. I have to admit, I was nervous about dropping 1900 dollars on a product without having the opportunity to try it but this treadmill didn't disappoint. It was took about 2 and a half hours to assemble it. The printed instructions were somewhat lacking but luckily there are videos on youtube which show the whole process step by step. As soon as I pulled my F-85 out of the box, I was impressed. Most home treadmills are small and fragile looking. That wasn't the case with the the F-85. Even though it's not a commercial grade unit, you wouldn't know by looking at it. This sucker is BIG and STURDY and it handles my weight without any difficulty. Now granted, I only use my treadmill for walking but most treadmills I've tried for home gyms will slow down or even stop if I step down too hard. The Sole doesn't even strain itself. It just keeps chuggin' NOW... The Sole doesn't have a touch screen or a video monitor that shows you pretty scenery. But for a $1900 price tag, you can't beat it with a stick. This is as good as almost any machine I've used at healthclubs. It's long enough that you don't have to shorten your strides. It's got a very user friendly LED display panel with large easy to read characters and the button controls are clearly marked and concise. It took me about 5 minutes to figure everything out. BOTTOM LINE... If you're a big person and you want a piece of equipment that delivers the goods without breaking your budget. YOU GOTTA GET YOU ONE OF THESE!!! :-) ... show more

  • Multiple warranty repairs failed – treadmill still unusable
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
I purchased this Sole treadmill expecting a reliable product backed by a solid warranty. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing. While still under warranty, the treadmill developed serious issues: none of the buttons work, and the speed randomly decreases on its own, making the treadmill unsafe and unusable. A video demonstrating these issues is attached. Over several months, Sole replaced the motor control unit and the display console, yet the exact same problems continue. Each time a part was replaced, the entire process took about a month—first waiting for the part to be shipped, then additional delays due to technician availability. One replacement display console also arrived damaged, causing further delays. Instead of properly diagnosing the issue or replacing the treadmill, customer service continued a trial-and-error approach. As a result, the treadmill remained unusable for long periods. Despite multiple failed repair attempts and the product still being under warranty, Sole has refused to replace the treadmill. Customer service has been slow and unresponsive, with emails often ignored and no meaningful resolution offered. Due to the lack of response and failure to resolve the issue, I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I would strongly caution anyone considering this treadmill to factor in the poor warranty support and lengthy repair delays. ... show more

  • This one is great, all the way around!
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
I bought this from Amazon, after checking it's price online from other stores. It was the same or less with Amazon. I have "Prime" so shipping a 300 pound item for free... Perfect! The delivery was scheduled, with a two hour window. The delivery guys brought it inside a put it right where I wanted it. Opening the box was more difficult then putting it together, which I did myself. In about 30 minutes. *The motor is whisper quiet. *The belt is smooth & of commercial quality. *After registering it with Sole, you get an included 4 year warranty. *The programs are intuitive & quite user-friendly. Two fans at the top keep you cool. And, built in speakers sound great. Lastly, it has saveable, programmable, workouts for two separate users. Any questions? Feel free to ask! ... show more

  • it looks awesome in our home gym
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
So I waited a while to review this treadmill, didn't want to jump the gun. First off, it looks awesome in our home gym!!!! Second, it's not just a new jacket rack or something we use the heck out of this thing, at least 50+ miles a week and still going strong. We had purchased a couple of cheaper treadmills over the years and always regretted spending even the couple hundred because of the quality of those machines, in comparison neither of us had a second thought on the almost couple grand that we dropped on this one. You most definitely get what you pay for: This machine does not "cut out" on you like cheaper brands do. My husband is not a small guy, 6' 3" and 220, our last treadmill the motor would stall every stride if he did more than a light jog. Not this one... Doesn't faze it one bit to run on it. Long deck, I was a competitive long distance runner for some years. I like running on treadmills when it's cold out (who doesn't right?) but I was getting bad habits from our other treadmills. The biggest problem was not a long enough track! So instead of striding out I was shortening to accommodate for the habits I was learning on the treadmill. No good! Incline, this machine has a killer incline! Wow! If you want a machine that will work your legs and butt this is it. I'm in pretty good shape but it's insane! You'll love it! It even tells you how many vertical feet you've climbed in your workout. Very simple display: so this is something that other people may not care in the slightest about but I love it. The display has a blue backlight with very easy to see numbers. Yeah I'm weird, I light to run with the lights off sometimes :) helps with headaches and I can still see the display. And it's the little things: it has a tray for your drinks, phones, or whatever one the crossbar up front, out of the way it's awesome! Also has places on the display to put whatever too, and a lip that holds a tablet in place too. I love it! Also has a fan built in, not a crazy powerful one or anything but when you're sweating your rear off it feels pretty amazing. Don't want to wear headphones? Yeah it has built in speakers and even comes with an audio jumper. Does not take up a whole lot of floor space when folded up, even has an assist to fold and drop the deck. Crazy :) The only downfalls to this product: it is insane heavy! We are dreading the day we have to move because of the treadmill but it's worth the work I'm sure. The delivery: I know they say don't look a gift horse in the mouth and the shipping was free but just a heads up on this. I scheduled the delivery two weeks out to a specific date and time. My husband took that day off of work to make sure he was here to help, the specs said it would weight 300 lbs so yeah I wasn't going to get it in the garage myself. After waiting around all day not being able to go anywhere or do anything we received a call late in the day that it would arrive the next afternoon, wow why the hell schedule it? The next day when the driver got here he says "I can't get this thing off the truck so I don't know what you want to do". Ummm okay..... Wow. That was after I had signed saying it was here, so your going to leave or what??? Anyways my husband had to back our truck up to the delivery truck and shove it off into the bed of our truck. Out two days of work... Terrible delivery service... Why would Amazon use a company for delivery that in my opinion is not capable of delivering this size of product???? Needless to say I was not happy in the slightest. ... show more

  • Poor Customer Service
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
I’ve had more problems than not and not wonderful customer service. During my first month the treadmill was shocking me and I had some speed fluctuations. Sole send out a technician along with some parts and repaired the treadmill. The speed fluctuations were fixed. The shocking was still there. I reached out again as the shocking got a little worse and the screen flickered as well. I was now beyond my one year everything included warranty. (When I bought it, I didn’t realize that it was one year for service and longer for just parts) I asked because the shocking was part of the original problem if they could make an exception to cover the cost of labor. It took them more than a month to get back to me, and when they did, they asked a few questions through email and diagnosed that it was static. I replied again, but no response. I wouldn’t buy another Sole product in the future. ... show more

  • Solid construction, quiet operation
Style: Sole F85 Treadmill
Two day shipping is a misnomer - it was 2 days to the third party delivery company, then I had to wait a week for the delivery company to have a truck with a lift bed scheduled in my area. The delivery agent brought the box inside my living room. Install was a piece of cake, with a second person holding the console up while I connected 3 wires. Everything was functional out of the box, except that the running deck is not level (2 inches high in front) and the rear feet are only slightly adjustable (and no instructions in the user's manual on adjusting them). Too bad I had to contact customer service on the first day of use. Worse is that Sole does NOT respond to email contact. But they were quick to answer the phone, and promised a technician would be at my house within a week. A week later, the technicians arrived to say that the rear feet are at their max extension and we could try placing coasters under them to get the deck to be level. So the advertised 0-degree incline is not actually possible without bracing/propping up the deck. I use this treadmill strictly for running, averaging 25 miles per week at speeds from 6-10 mph. Some of the console features seem oddly lacking for a treadmill at this price. The distance reads only to the tenth of a mile, not hundredths, effectively rounding down all your distances (unless you can estimate hundredths by portion of the track icon that's filled in). And the time reads only 2 digits for minutes, then flips back to zero after 99 minutes. This might not matter to you unless you spend 2-3 hours on the machine for long workouts. This treadmill takes much longer to speed up and slow down than a gym treadmill; this makes interval training very different. There's about a 20-second lag between the speed you punch in and the belt reaching that programmed speed. While the speed has both a numeric display and a round spedometer-like graphic, both of them read only what you've punched in, not what the belt is actually turning, and you get no indication when the belt has reached that programmed speed (all speeds in the meantime are a mystery). The quick speed buttons of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 12 may be convenient for walkers, but runners will still spend much of their time pressing and holding the speed up/down buttons. The fan has only one speed (weak). The speakers are adequate for my iPod, but there is no volume control on the console, so you have to be able to reach the input device to change it. ... show more
