This is an excellent product, and we are very happy with our purchase overall. There are a few areas where improvements could be made: 1. The full price is much to high. (I purchased it on sale for $99, and I never would have bought it at the higher price point. I also think they should offer a multi-unit discount for households with more than one litter box because it's even more challenging to monitor the health and activity of individual cats when you have more than one.) 2. The app doesn't allow you to create your own unique login. You are forced to use your Apple ID or Google login, which means it isn't easy to share access among family members or cat sitters. I have been able to login using my husband's Apple ID. However, we'd like to be able to give our cat sitter access, but there is no way we are going to start sharing our Apple ID login credentials outside of our household. Every month or so, the app forces you to login again which requires the account holder to provide you with a code to get back in. (I appreciate security, but this is very annoying when they could just give the account holder the ability to remove access from certain devices as necessary.) 3. I wish there was a way to easily share a report with our vet via email directly from the app, or even grant our vet access to monitor the activity (just like we'd like to do with our cat sitter). You can create a report and then manually email the PDF, but that's a lot of extra unnecessary steps that aren't easy to do from a phone. Having said all that, once you get used to navigating the app, it really is a great tool for monitoring your cat's weight and litter activity. It's great that you can tell by checking the app if the box needs to be scooped, or if your cat has made multiple failed attempts to use it, which could indicate a behavioral, environmental, or health concern. I love getting the notifications on my phone when my cat has used the litter box, so it saves me a trip down to the basement to check if it needs to be scooped. It seems to take about a week for the scale to "learn" how to read your cat's activity correctly because we had to manually adjust a few times from "entered but did not use the litter box" to indicate that she had actually done #1 or #2. After this learning period, we found it to be very reliable and accurate, even when performing a full litter box change it didn't need any time to re-calibrate. It just went right back to "business" as usual. We only have one cat, but based on how accurately it can differentiate between #1 and #2, I believe it could also differentiate between two different cats, assuming their weight is a few ounces apart from one another. You can also change your cat's name/avatar in the app if you have more than one cat. Unfortunately, the cost is probably prohibitive for households with more than one litter box.

This litter box monitor has been a great tool for keeping track of my cat’s bathroom habits. It was simple to set up and fits neatly under a regular litter box — my cat doesn’t even seem to notice it’s there. The device tracks weight and usage, and even sends reminders to scoop (though twice a day feels a bit much!). While it’s not always 100% accurate in identifying exactly what your cat did — sometimes it logs a visit incorrectly — it still provides useful insights overall. The price is a little on the high side. Still, it works well and has made it much easier to monitor my cat’s health and habits.

I bought this soon after adopting an older cat that the vet warned would need to lose weight now or was at risk of developing diabetes. I wanted to be able to verify regularly that she was losing weight at a safe rate (faster than 4% a month could be damaging to the kidneys). I also didn't want to have to go through the trouble of regularly wrangling her to sit on a more traditional scale and didn't want to buy something that I would have to set up and store with every use. The petivity scale has been the perfect solution to all this - a real set it and forget it system. I've been using it for about 9 months now and the app consistently works, and sends notifications of percentage weight loss. You can also set it to notify you of any litterbox usage by the cat which could be useful for knowing when to clean or if you have concern that your cat isn't going as often as they should. Even without these notifications on, the petivity app was really helpful for remotely diagnosing a constipation issue that my cat developed when I was away for Christmas and had left her with a cat sitter, and with that information, the cat sitter was able to adjust her diet appropriately. I bought this device originally at $199.99 but then returned it and rebought for $99.99 when it was put on sale within a month of my purchase (advices to do so my Amazon customer support since Amazon doesn't do price adjustments). While I wish it was cheaper, during my own searching, it really seemed like the only available smart tracking scale for litterboxes that wasn't also integrated into a litterbox itself and many such integrated litterboxes are also pricier automatically cleaning ones that I didn't want anyway (heard that cats can be injured if the sensor for triggering the automatic cleaning mechanism becomes faulty and initiates cleaning with the cat inside). So with that all said, I do think the device really delivers on what it promises to do and would recommend it to anyone hoping to verify that their cat is safely losing weight.

I am very impressed with this product! . It works well, it is a good size, it is sturdy and it has given me peace of mind. I love that it weighs my cat every time she enters her litter box. The app is most informative and easy to set up and use. The home page shows the litter box events and there is an events tab with more comprehensive information. This includes when (dates/times) and how (urination/feces) your cat has used the litter box, in addition to when the litter box was scooped. You can get alerts if there is something wrong; however, I am happy to say that I have not gotten any alerts! You can also keep track of the type of food you feed your pet with the pantry tab. I haven’t explored that part at this point. Overall, I love this product! It is worth the money. If this one needs replacing, I will most certainly buy another one.

Pros: -Easy to set up and works pretty well. -If you only have one cat, this will be a breeze and you will probably love it. -It says in place on the floor without sliding around, and the box stays in place on top of it well too. -It takes several batteries but so far battery life is better than expected. I’m sure it depends on how often it’s used. -Provides useful information on cat’s weights/box habits. -Handy for cats that resist getting on a scale. -It records how much time the cat spends in the box and if you have a camera set up you can see if your cat is struggling or just hanging out. -It is quite accurate at detecting “non-cat events” such as the box getting accidentally bumped (these events get recorded in the timeline like everything else). -It is accurate at detecting when the box has been scooped or refilled and records those events. -There are several ways to view litter box activity and track trends. You can view a list of events in a chronological timeline for each day, or a graph chart of weights across a few days, or look at each cat profile individually. -Sends alerts if the litter box hasn’t been used Cons: -It has given me one more thing to obsess about (maybe I’m not meant to know my cat’s exact weight throughout the day). -If you have multiple cats, the app will ask you which cat used the litter box every single time for the first 2-3 weeks (at least), then after that it will still ask frequently if you have cats that are very close in weight. -If you have more than one cat, you will need to set up a camera (not included) and review the footage to see which cat was using the box so you can enter the info in the app. This is time consuming. -It assumes your cat(s) are exclusively using that one litter box and should each be using it multiple times a day, so if your cat doesn’t use it frequently enough or hasn’t for several days, the app will alert you to a potential problem (and if enough time passes it may ask if you no longer have the cat). -It’s not 100% perfect with knowing what “activity” the box was used for. For example: it will record that “a cat entered the box but didn’t use it” but the cat actually did use it. -If you remove a cat profile you can’t get it back, but you also can’t create a new profile with the same name because “it already exists”. -For the first 2 months I kept this in my bathroom so I could monitor things closely and scoop often. Once I moved it to a different room, it seemed to forget which cat was which and started asking which cat had used the box every time like it did when I first set it up. Ironically, the app was having a glitch at the time so I couldn’t enter the information it was asking for. I got out of the habit of babysitting and spoon-feeding information into the app during the glitch, so I have just ignored it for a few weeks. It is still asking me which cat used the box so I might turn it off for a while and take a break from using it. I wish this could be rated separately based on whether you have a single cat or multiple cats, because your experience is going to be vastly different.

I’m someone who is pretty busy everyday, but I still worry about my cats at home. I wanted to find something as close to an “Apple Watch” for their cat without having to put something on them. This product fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to setup, didn’t add bulk to the house, and help me keep track of my cat’s health in a new way. For the price of less than a vet visit I have two scales monitoring my their habits 24/7. The app needs a bit of time to learn your cats, but once that’s complete the data is great to have. One recommendation I could make if you’re considering this is to have one for every litter box you own so you never miss any events. I’ll be ordering a third one soon enough just for that reason. If you’re on the fence about this consider the cost of detection and prevention over reacting too late. Definitely buy this smart litter box monitor ASAP.

The use of the pet monitor is a breeze and setup is very straightforward once you have the app setup on your phone. For me the price of $120 is more than I am willing to pay for the features provided. I would be more willing to purchase in the $50 range or have an option to pay a subscription fee for one year. Also, I would like to see the pee and poop icons on the chart view for an easier way to see trends. But overall the pet monitor works great without any other maintenance except for battery replacement. The battery seems that it would last about 6 months. The app is very easy to use and good to see all events at a glance. Purchased as part of a paid survey.

I have 2 cats close in weight and these monitors have never been accurate in determining which cat is using the box. If you only have one cat, then it’ll be great- go for it. But if you have more than one cat and need to monitor their bathroom habits for urinary issues (my male cat nearly died from a urinary blockage) save yourself hundreds of dollars and get a cheap wifi camera instead of these overpriced, overrated monitors. They will not be accurate. The concept is great, but needs some major perfecting before it’s sold to the public for these high prices. The app is also rarely accurate. We scoop litter boxes multiple times daily and the app rarely registered the cleanings. And it set off weight alerts nearly daily which were annoying- because it wasn’t even registering the correct cat most of the time. I got to the point where I just couldn’t trust the app or the monitors and just unplugged them. A shame that money was wasted. And on another note- the feet of these monitors permanently stained my painted hardwood floors. The floors were sealed with polyurethane but the stains will not come off. Purina doesn’t care. They said they’re sending me some coupons… that I most likely wont be able to use since my cats eat Hills prescription food. So yeah, if you have light floors beware of the feet. They are a weird material that leaves permanent marks.
