I raised my first two sets of chicks and ducks in this pen. The fact that you can zip the top was a lifesaver for when my chicks learned they could fly out. The side openings make it easy to run brooder plate cords out. It held up great to two batches of chicks and a batch of ducks. The ducks wore mine out worse because they did what baby ducks do and constantly spilled water. I wouldn’t recommend using for ducklings for that fact, but it made do until they could go outside. If duckling go in it, it needs a tarp under it for water spillage. But it is the best for chicks. It’s very spacious and had plenty of room for near 20 chicks, two brooder plates, two starter roosting perches, a feeder and waterer. Mine held up great and only ripped due to my fault for dragging it over briars. It’s easy to dump out and spray with a water hose and cleans very easily. I will definitely be buying another one and highly recommend. ... show more

This was the best thing I've ever bought for baby chicks, easy to clean, I pit puppy pads down and pine shavings, lots of room and no problems using an overhead heat lamp. I really purchased this for myself and a family member to play with new baby animals and let them roam around without running off or hurting themselves.. its great you can lie down in it .. I am 5'6 and I can lie down and spent time with the pet and not worry about it getting lost or running under the couch . I used it both inside the house and also outside at the park under trees ......it's good for mice, turtles, bearded dragons. .... I would not recommend leaving a pet unattended as a mouse would chew through unattended and anything with claws would climb the sides and could hurt themselves if they fell backwards... myself and another family member sat inside of it .. our heads touched the top but that was no big deal . the safety for the animal was the main part .... we also took it to the park to get some time outside in the fresh air .... it worked really well... .. pay attention to the zippers . I would recommend to pull the zipper all the way down to the end of the beginning . if you open the zipper as it's located in the middle it will break the zipper . the zipper part is not made like a pair of pants . there is no place where it joins up like a jacket .. so I would advise to be careful of that when using any of the zippers.... it popped open really easy to use at first .. although I tried the directions to fold it back up . It has pictures and everything to try to put it back in the bag that it came with ... but if you don't intend on packing it up and putting it away often, it comes with steaks that can push into the dirt if its outside .... it was I guess supposed to be for baby chickens and it would actually work for that as well .. although it would need bedding and what not ... it works for what I purchased it for,, it will surely make due until I can get something more durable where I know will last more than a year or two ... ... show more

This is probably the best enclosure for baby chicks I have ever purchased! Opens up easy, keeps the babies safe from jumping out of a box enclosure when they begin to fly up! The netting holds in the heat from the heat lamp. The 4 zipper openings makes it super easy to clean while not allowing birds to escape! The size could actually fit about 20 chicks or more! Love the capability of opening the zippered bottom and using the enclosed stakes to bring them outside when they are ready. This allows them to have fresh air, sunshine and foraging! The price of this unit was the best money can buy! It's very nice looking, sturdy and it protects the chicks from danger since it's completely enclosed! Can't say enough about this enclosure! Would highly recommend for novice to seasoned birders. I believe this would work for other small animals as well if they are not chewers! ... show more

I AM NOT A PAYED REVIEWER!!! Was weary on something like this, but my chicks were outgrowing their makeshift tote and needed more space before going to the coop in the outdoors. This has been the PERFECT place for them. They have so much room to frolic as they grow (I have 9) and all the zipper entries make it so easy to get in there to feed them, clean, grab them etc. And also, on warmer days, I take it outside, take the bottom off and steak it down so they can play in the grass! This has truly blown me away and at such a great price too! 5/5 stars from me! ... show more

We bought this for our new kitten. We love this playpen. The size is wonderful. However, it’s super flexible. The kitten can jump and grab the top and it collapses on him. When he’s out and about, he jumps on it and it collapses down and gets stuck being down. It does the job of containing the youngster when it’s bedtime and doesn’t appear to be unsafe. It’s not sharp at all or anything. Easy to clean. Zippers work well. Super easy to put up. Awful to take down. It’s almost impossible to get back in the pouch.
