No the felt material is not thick but not thin. It is thick enough to serve its purpose. I really like it. It makes the bottom of the pool softer to walk on and doesn't create lumps, we use sand under our pool. I cant wait to put together my landscaping around the outside of the pool now.

We purchased this product with the anticipation of adding extra padding under our pool. While it is thinner than we expected, the material is similar to felt rather than your typical plastic tarp, I do enjoy that several shapes and sizes were offered allowing us purchase the exact size of our pool. Like any tarp, this was easy to install and so far has proven to be an effective layer of protection under the lining. We will have to wait until we tear the pool down in order to determine how it’s held up. If necessary, we will order again.

Excellent product/quality we used this for over the sand when installing a new liner. If there are wrinkles in liner bottom they smooth out very easily because of pad. So glad we ordered it!
