I am now a believer
Let me just preface this entire review by saying I now believe the shark hype. I have used a multitude of vacuum types and brands my whole life. Vacuuming was always my “job” growing up and now having a family of my own I’ve gone through my fair share of vacuums. Over the years I’ve used Bissell, Hoover, Dirt Devil, Dyson, Shark, and even this one sort of vacuum that was sold to my family by a traveling vacuum salesman. I have no idea the brand of that one but I know it was very expensive. My current vacuum was the bissell pet with the cord rewind. Now I am a big fan of cord rewind. It’s one of my favorite features. It also came with a multitude of fancy tools. However, those feature become completely moot when the belt burns up and snaps once a month and it gets clogged. I put vacuums through the ringer. I have 3 children ages 10,5, and 1. A husband that works in a dirty trade. 2 dogs and 2 cats. I was absolutely done with the bissell. I’d heard about sharks incredible power. I’d used one at a previous job though and wasn’t super impressed by it. Perhaps it was just older and never kept up with? I took a chance on this refurbished model. I also purchased the extended warranty because like I said I put vacuums THROUGH IT. It arrived in original shark packaging. It was beautiful. Came with two tools. Only two? I thought to myself. But if you really think about it, you only need two. The long pointy one and the one for the couch/stairs. That’s it. Anything else is just excessive. And no cord rewind. But for what this vacuum lacks in the fancy department it makes up for in every other way. My home is a bi-level. Meaning stairs and multiple landings. The lift away feature is incredible. Donate any small stair/handheld vacuum you might have gotten. It’s now obsolete and useless. Wherever you need to go, this thing can follow. The lights on the vacuum are a big help if you have darker floors. It helps you see the absolute wreckage before you suck it all up. I’ve never once had to flip this thing over and dig out hair or string or other such nonsense. It does not quit. We cleaned out the car with it. The shop vac became obsolete in cleaning up kid crumbs. The suction power of this machine just doesn’t compare. I see complaints of cord length. Do you people live in mansions or something? I’m able to reach every room in my house with this cord. Which is something I was not able to do with my previous vacuum. It’s light weight. It makes moving from floor to floor a breeze. The reachability with the wand is excellent too. The other day I gave my husband a hair cut and was vacuuming off the excess hair from him and accidentally gave him a bunch of hickeys. That’s how powerful the suction is. That’s never happened with any previous vacuum I’ve owned before. The only con I have for this vacuum is that there’s no where to put the two attachments. That’s literally the only con I’ve got for it. Very, very happy with this Amazon refurbished product. It was immaculate. Go ahead and buy it! You won’t regret it. ... show more

Great vacuum

I bought this vacuum refurbished about a year ago. I urgently needed a good vacuum as I have 2 cats that are both long haired, and a golden retriever! I was pleasantly impressed by the price for the brand. The vacuum was easy to assemble. Which makes it easy to clean, and it can be used on multiple surfaces ie.. hardwood floors, area rugs, carpets, linoleum, etc. Pros I love the LED lighting on the vacuum. It make it easy to see spots you missed and how dirty your floors are! The length of the power cord is perfect. I can vacuum the whole house from one outlet. It also makes it easier to go around corners and furniture. The Lift-Away feature is great. It makes it easy to reach cobwebs in corners. Also I love this feature for cleaning my stairs. This is awesome so I don’t have to kill my back lugging around a vacuum. I’ve even used it to vacuum out my floor boards in my car! (with the upholstery attachment) The Self-Cleaning Brushroll is very convenient and works very well. Although I have had to clean out the brushroll twice for longer hair that wrapped around it. The maneuverability of the Swivel steering is great for corners and going around furniture! Cons The attachments the vacuum come with are awesome, I use the upholstery attachment the most. Unfortunately the vacuum doesn’t have a storage space for the attachments. It makes the attachments easy to misplace which is annoying. Overall I find this vacuum to be a great deal for the price. I quickly found this has been my favorite vacuum that I’ve ever owned or used. I would 10/10 recommend it to anyone who enjoys having clean floors! ... show more

Great vacuum!
I did lots of research on vaccums before buying this one. The reviews I read here convinced me this was the one for my needs. And boy, the reviews were spot on. Loads of power. 2 settings, 1 for bare,1 for carpet. It was amazing what came out of the rugs. I could hardly believe it ! ( I had been using cordless vac. )Also does an outstanding job on bare floors as well. It's quite easy to do stairs and anything up high with the lift away feature. It's not super light, but reasonable for it's power. I am 61 and in decent shape, so not a challenge for me. I would go as far as to say, with its swivel feature, it makes the weight easy to maneuver in most situations. It easy to clean, easy to dump.all the filters are accessible and nice long cord . It's best feature , I think is ,I can clean my very long shag rug. You cannot push the vacuum through it, but can pull it back and forth. Did a fantastic job on it..and everything else in my home. You won't regret this purchase ! I bought it renewed. It came packaged as if it were new. Great shipping time ! Very happy with this product. ... show more

DO NOT BUY !!
We purchased a Navigator Lift Away 5 years ago. Great machine. Built solid, sturdy, powerful. So when we needed a new vac we purchased another one. What a difference 5 years make !! This model is nowhere near the quality of our last one. I don't know if refurbished models differ. Cheap, Cheaper, Cheapest ! Flimsy plastic construction. Used it 4 times. Plastic closure latch for reconnection of Lift Away Attachment snapped off !! Upon inspection, 1 cheaply made light plastic latch is now made for this model. Our last model had 2 sturdy, thick plastic latches to secure body attachment. This is a really important part of this vacuum and they chinznt out. All I wanted was the same Lift Away quality I had with my first vacuum. Is this so hard to reproduce ? Awful. DO NOT BUY !!! ... show more

Excellent vacuum at a great price point
My Dyson no longer was picking up well and I was sick of spending top dollar for new filters so decided to give this vacuum a try. I have a cordless Shark vac that I use everyday, so I was familiar with the brand. It is a solid vacuum that has excellent suction. It has an extra long cord, lights on the front, it's easy to empty the canister, quieter than most vacuums and rolls effortlessly. I gave it 4☆ for 3 simple fixes... There is no where to attach the cord while vacuuming, so you have to hold it it one hand as to not run it over. The power/floor setting button is super low on the vacuum. Lastly, there is no where to store the attachments on the vacuum. Other than that, this is a great vacuum!! ... show more

This thing SUCKS! In a good way.
Alright so hindsight is 20/20 and we should have switched to this beast of a machine or it's brethren a long time ago instead of getting those $60 and $80 vaacums from Walmart everytime they broke down. The design is definitely user friendly from it's easy release cord, heavy duty filter, added front LED lights for dark corners, simple removable top to carry around, lightweight build, and adjustable suctioning right at handle. Dust and dirt really don't stand a chance, and the only thing that can out compete this line-up are the 2-grand vaacums like a Kirby and even then the race between the two classes ain't a clean shutout; for the fraction of the price, clean your carpet and floors without putting down the money of a down payment. ... show more

Very satisfied with this vac
A little small, width-wise, but I guess that means it's easier to navigate between chairs and other tight spots. Solid build and cord is plenty long. Very good suction and maneuverability. Lightweight, yet feels like it drives a little heavy -- probably due to the suckage. I feel like I need to push it a little harder than it's weight indicates. We really don't use the detachable base feature, since the vac is lightweight enough that it's still easy to hose down the stairs. It would be nice if there was a spot to keep nozzle attachments, so I don't need to run down the stairs to grab one. Ditto for a spot to anchor the cord to the handle. I am constantly tripping over the cord as I push/pull back and forth. >> The self-cleaning roller is for real, and it is awesome. This was a constant source of headache on our prior unit(s) We had a Dyson ball before. A bigger, heavier model. We don't miss it. ... show more

The hotrod of small home vacuums
I'm mostly only using it on hardwood floors, but this thing got my two dog household under control in an hour. It also handles incredibly easily. Small homes and apartments basically just need to come with one of these standard.
