Listen, I write reviews so people can get an honest (completely my opinion) based review. I write reviews for pretty much everything I purchase, especially if I was going back and forth with myself before buying because the reviews are all over the place or if there aren't many reviews to base a purchase off of. I am going to start by prefacing that I am typically THE CHEAPEST person when it comes to buying things, because I am not rich nor do I have time to get products that simply do not work as described, send them back, etc. SO, I'd rather get it right the first time, usually from reading others' reviews. I purchased this Shark Cordless Vacuum, not because it's the newest one out on the market, but because after spending HOURS and even DAYS researching different cordless vacuums, this one stuck out to me for the amazing suction it has, even on the ECO setting. When I first used the vacuum, I was not familiar with the settings, so I was using it on the auto-detect feature, and it worked really well, not super loud, but when it detects "dirt" it does get a little louder, not much though. It died fairly quickly on that setting though, but I was able to vacuum my living room and kitchen completely. (I have a 1,500 sq. ft. house). The next day, I did it on ECO mode, and it seemed to pick up everything even though the suction/vacuum sounds extremely low or like it's not picking anything up. But it was ! I made sure to vacuum rooms I didn't vacuum the day before just to make sure. I did use all 3 settings, ECO, the high setting, and auto-detect... it lasted the whole time I vacuumed. I did 2 bedrooms, the living room, the hallway, the kitchen, etc. and it still had battery life left and I could have kept going. I waited to buy this until Prime Day and to be honest, I almost backed out, because even on sale, it was $400. BUT, my birthday was coming up and since having my kids, I never buy myself anything nice anymore, so I decided to purchase this vacuum, and I love it! I've used it every day since I've gotten it, mainly for fun at this point, because I have an obsession with vacuuming anyways. I've never owned a cordless vacuum before, and after my research, it seems like ALL cordless vacuums have poor battery life. I still love my bagless Eureka corded vacuum ($60 on sale), but I needed something that was more flexible and able to fit into smaller spaces. The auto-empty is a nice feature as well, and for me, it's just an added bonus because I don't mind having to dump the canister after every use... now I don't have to, it does it for me! If you're debating on a stick cordless vacuum that has a powerful suction, THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU, coming from a girl who has owned several (cheaper) vacuums... this one will not disappoint!

We love this vacuum! Thank you to all the people who write a detailed review about the vacuums they have used to help me make my choice. I was lost in review reading land for hours to make my choice to replace our stick vacuum (it was not a Shark brand, was super light weight, nothing fancy). I have used both my son’s Dyson stick vacuums many times and they had dogs and young children. My review is for the PREMIUM Shark PowerDetect Stick Vacuum. I purchased during Prime Days. I have owned two full sized Shark vacuums in the past and haven’t had issues with them other than I wear out the hose because I vacuum corners and edges so often they need to be taped together! My vacuums get a lot of use. The factors that helped me: >>Dust cup closes fully-the self emptying style has issues with magnets getting dirty and causes dust to fly as you vacuum, always need to check it. Also, I will need to empty the dust collector unit for the auto dump style because that larger dust bin collector doesn’t take itself to the trash bin. So I decided I can empty the dirt/dust cup each time I use the model that doesn’t auto-dump. Doesn’t bother me.>> LOVE the bend in the handle to reach under my sofa, bar cabinet, beds. Easier to turn when under furniture than I expected. I had a friend who has a back issues try it and she said it was easy for her to use under the bed. >>My 7 year old grandson used it to vacuum under the beds and he said the vacuum pulls forward which his Dyson at home doesn’t do. He did mention it was a little bit of work to pull it back and I told him it’s because it vacuums in reverse as it does going forward but isn’t self propelled going backward. >>I kept trying to fold the vacuum forward I needed to remember to bend it back like a birds leg! >>The lights change color as the vacuum changes speed and brush rotation as it goes from area rug to wood floor to tile. >>It increases suction when I vacuum into a corner, why do I think it’s cool to hear it rev up to get that corner clean? This is the worst vacuum I have ever owned and also the most expensive. When set to the highest suction, the battery only lasts 10 minutes. TEN MINUTES! I know it’s battery powered, but for this price I expected at least 20 minutes. Ten is ridiculous. I don’t understand why stick vacuums are moving to having the debris canister and motor at the top where the handle is. It adds so much extra weight to my wrist. Added to that, the way the handle is boxed in, my wrist has to arch to hold it. I can’t let it relax and hang off the edge like with other vacuums. This leads to my wrist hurting after only a couple of minutes, and my wrist and fingers start to go numb. It’s so uncomfortable! The head of the vacuum can lock in place so that it can be more easily rolled away when you’re done vacuuming. The problem is the head of the vacuum CONSTANTLY locks while vacuuming. If I have to pull the handle just a little sideways to vacuum an odd angle, it locks, and then I have to step on the vacuum head and pull the handle to unlock it. It happens over and over while I’m vacuuming, which is super frustrating. I’ve had other vacuums with swivel heads that can also lock in place, and I have NEVER had this happen. The lowest suction setting to save on battery just seems too weak. If I turn on the auto detect mode, the vacuum seems to wildly switch from high to low suction without reason. It’s almost a sensory overload to hear it going back and forth from low to high suction so many times. I was on a clean spot on the floor, and the high suction kicked on for a few seconds. I was at a dirty area that needed more suction, and it took several seconds of me vacuuming over it before the higher suction finally kicked on. By that time, I had already vacuumed over the debris several times with the lower suction, and the higher suction was no longer needed. I would rather manually choose the suction I need than deal with that. I’m not looking for high tech bells and whistles. I just want a cordless vacuum that works well. I don’t know why they say the vacuum has edge detect. All the edges around my rooms stay dirty after vacuuming. The vacuum just won’t suck up the dirt against the edge of a wall. I imagine that’s because an upholstered (like carpet) roller is on the edge of the vacuum head, blocking suction from pulling dirt in. Instead the roller is supposed to sweep debris to the roller brush, which then sweeps the debris into the suction area. I have a cheapy generic vacuum without an upholstered roller that does a much better job. I don’t want to vacuum a room and then have to add an attachment and go back to vacuum all the edges of the room. And the battery doesn’t last long enough for me to do that anyway. I would have to wait hours for it to recharge. After my second time using the vacuum (so 20min of use), I found huge, thick chunks of pet hair hung up in the upholstered roller. It was A LOT of hair, so the roller doesn’t even do a good job at pushing pet hair to the suction area. Also after the second use, the auto empty wouldn’t work. Hair was hanging out of the flap, and lots of hair was wound up in a big ball in the canister. I lifted and lowered the vacuum on the dock several times to suck the debris out, the dock would suction, but none of the hair would come out. I had to push in the canister flap and pull the hair out. It was wound up in a tight ball and was stuck. I vacuumed a third time, and again the dock couldn’t empty the canister. Hair and dust just stuck to the filter inside the canister. I don’t understand how this vacuum is marketed as being for pet hair. Pet hair doesn’t get stuck on the brush roller, but it absolutely gets stuck on the upholstered roller and in the debris canister. Another aggravation is that the vacuum can’t stand upright on its own. Why?? Quite a few times while vacuuming, I needed to stand the vacuum up to move a chair, move a toy, etc., and I couldn’t. And it’s difficult to prop it up against furniture or a wall since it’s so top-heavy from the canister and motor being at the handle. It just wants to fall over. Absolute nothing about this vacuum seems well thought out or convenient. I have a new baby who always wants to be held. I have only been using a rechargeable stick vacuum because it’s just so much easier and quick. I need something lightweight and can’t deal with a cord. I decided I would invest in a more expensive rechargeable stick vacuum, I did my research, and I was so excited about this vacuum. It was such a letdown right at the first use. I will be returning it.

I did a lot of research before buying this and glad I did. It's my first cordless and, maybe I just got lucky but I couldn't be happier with it. It has plenty of suction power. You name it and it sucks it up from cat hair to kibble, cheerios to rice. It has a sensor that "knows" when it's on carpet and automatically the vacuum increases power. Then when it gets on vinyl/smooth flooring it knows and and automatically lowers the power a bit but still easily sucks up everything without flinging it back. It also has sensors and knows when you get close to a wall and automatically increases power so it gets everything close to the wall. The other thing it has sensor(s) for is that it "knows" is when it is sucking up more dirt in a particular spot and so also speeds up to be sure it gets it all. All that speeding up when needed and then slowing down, is to save battery power without sacrificing cleaning. I've run it for about 30 minutes in that "auto" mode and still had a little bit of battery power left. You can manually set it to a constant low or high power but I've left it on the middle, automatic power detect setting and let it decide how much power to use and when to use it (or not). It does such a good job on that setting that I see no reason to change it. I suspect on a constant high setting your battery would run out of juice pretty quickly, probably in 15 minutes or so. I also find that I use the flex wand more than I thought I would. Great for getting under beds or whatever without bending over so much to do so. When you're finished vacuuming, just stick it on the docking station and the docking station sucks out the dirt from the vacuum cleaner and puts that dirt in a docking station container. When docked, it also recharges the battery. That dock station container holds a lot so you don't need to empty it very often maybe once a month or so, if that much depending on your situation. When you do need to empty the docking station container, it easily disconnects from the docking station with one hand. Take the container and hold it over garbage can, push a lever and the bottom opens up and dumps everything in garbage can. I wish it came with more attachments. Mine came with two and neither had a brush which I really would like to have. I also wish there was some onboard way to carry one or more of the attachments on the vacuum itself. I knew these things weren't including when I bought it so no stars off.

We purchased this vacuum and we have had it for several months. We have a lot of pet hair and our prior unit just could not handle it. This unit does handle it. And shockingly it does not clog! It has a very wide opening and wide pathway into the receptacle. It does a pretty good job in most areas and I’ve been really happy with how it bends and how it fits under couches and furniture and how light weight it is. I really like the auto empty container part. It has a good battery time. It’s easier to tell how much battery is left. It is easy to figure out how to use and maneuver. The reason I did not give it five stars is because we do not just use it as a vacuum for the floor. We put attachments on it regularly and we try to use it for corners and baseboards and ceiling corners and ceiling, fans and vents and blinds and stuff like that. And in these areas, honestly it’s just a failure. I just am not happy with it at all on anything but the floor. I don’t think that it has the same suction power with the attachments on it, and there are only two attachments and the vacuum base only has space to hold one of those. It just doesn’t work well on those things. I literally kept my old vacuum for these areas. I don’t know why it struggles in these areas, but it definitely lost the unit a star in it’s rating from me

We’ve only had this vacuum for about a month now. So far, it works well and pretty much performs as advertised. While no cordless stick vacuum will clean carpet as well as a corded vacuum, this one comes closest. We have a home with mostly laminate floors and for those, the Shark is superb. We have a German Shepherd who naturally sheds a ton of hair. One pass with this powerful vac and the hair disappears. The machine does seem to rev up to higher power at seemingly random times - supposedly when it senses that more suction power is needed. I don’t see any larger amounts of dirt or debris so I’m not sure what is triggering this. But since the vac is doing a good job and the battery isn’t depleting itself, I don’t really care. The lights on the front and back of the head work really well so you can see where you’ve been and where you still need to go. And for the few carpeted areas we have, the unit revs up nicely and does a very good job of removing the dog hair and dirt. Finally, the automatic empty feature is a real nice touch. We leave the charging/emptying unit in our attached garage so no more dumping the dirt bin into the kitchen garbage pail. We have owned a bunch of cordless vacs over the years, and until this Shark the Dyson models were our favorite. Now the clear favorite is this Shark. One caveat- the unit is heavier than any of our Dyson vacs, so it would be a little tricky to use on a long stairway. For us, the problem is solved as we keep the old Dyson unit charge up for the stairs.

I went down a rabbit hole one weekend looking for the best cordless vacuum and ended up purchasing this one. There is only 1 con I have and it’s not even specific to the vacuum. Here are some of the things that lead me to purchase and fall in love with this vacuum. The size is perfect for small spaces. Since it can be folded in half for storage it can be stored anywhere and be out of the way and out of sight. The suction is amazing! Paired with 2 rollers it gets every piece of dirt, debris, hair, and anything else you encounter. The front roller is amazing on tile and hardwood floors. It helps loosen dirt allowing the suction to remove it. I cleaned and vacuumed my entire house with a different cordless vacuum then went behind it with this vacuum and was surprised at just how much extra dirt this vacuum was able to get. Even very fine dirt that was embedded into the carpet came up. The “detect” aspect of this vacuum is top tiered. My last cordless vacuum wasn’t great and I always had it on its max setting just to make sure I got everything. I can confidently leave this on its “eco” setting and I know that it will increase its power when/if needed. I also love that it can detect the floor and increases suction and roller speed when on carpet for deeper cleaning. The battery life is great. I was able to vacuum 2,000 sqft and still had about 25% battery left. The only con I have is that Shark currently doesn’t have extra batteries to purchase for this model. Not sure if they will in the future or not but after owning this vacuum for a few months now I’ve not had to stop in the middle of cleaning to recharge the batter. It’s super easy to use, just press the button and go. The lights are perfect for seeing tiny dust particles ensure you get everything. It performs better than any more expensive brand I’ve owned in the past. It does have some weight to it but it’s not too heavy. I usually only store it folded in half to prevent it from falling. The only true con I have is the lack of accessories. I was hoping I would be able to use this in the car but it’s just a bit too large and the accessories aren’t the best for that but they’re pretty good for household use. I wish they made a flexible hose that would attach so I could use this in smaller areas like the car. Overall this vacuum exceeded my expectations. I know Shark is a fantastic brand but wasn’t sure a cordless vacuum would hold up to those expectations. This vacuum cleans just as well as my corded Shark vacuum. I know that once I move and have more room I will be upgrading to the model that has the base that empties the dust and charges all in one.

I'll preface this by saying that this is a pretty good vacuum overall, and I would likely buy it again at the Black Friday sale price. That's the shorthand review, for the longer version, read on. First the good, and foremost, it functions great at cleaning the floors (provided you keep up with the filter, more on that later). Does great on hardwood, does great on rugs...and the Powerdetect feature which switches between the two automatically, no clue how it works but it does it flawlessly. The tangle-free brush functions even better than Shark's previous versions of it. We've got a GP dog who sheds like crazy, and I've yet to have to detangle all that from winding around the brush, so I'm very pleased with that. However, the front roller will occasionally build up hair/debris where the comb is, but luckily it's super easy to clean out by popping out the roller. Hair will also occasionally build up where the 2 little wheels are, to the point they won't spin easily. Cleaning those is a little more involved, requires using a small flathead screwdriver to pop the wheels out to clean them out. Highly doubtful the manufacturer recommends actually doing this, but I found no other option to get the wheels to spin freely again (that applies to all the Shark vacs I owned...I'm on my 4th one). The battery is great...again, provided you keep up with the filter, and again more on that later. Our house is near 3k sq ft, and I've got plenty of reserve power after I'm done vacuuming. With my previous cordless Sharks, I had to prioritize areas because I'd run out of juice near the end, and would have to finish up after a recharge. I also very much like that they now have a charge meter, and not just 3 lights indicating level of charge left. The auto-empty dock/charger is so awesome! It's too easy, just stick the vacuum on there, and it does its thing. You obviously do have to empty the dock's cannister eventually, but its large capacity means you don't have to do that too often. We vacuum pretty much everyday, and I empty it maybe once/week if that. So those are all positives, but there are a few downsides to this vacuum. My main gripe is the amount of debris which gets past the initial filter in the vacuum's cannister, clogging up the foam filter (see pics). The previous Sharks I owned all had a wire mesh cannister filter, so all bigger particles and major dust would stay in the cannister, and only fine dust would get past it to the foam filter. The foam filters did eventually require cleaning or replacing as well, but I've never had dust get past them as well, all the way to the HEPA filter. But on this vacuum, the vac's cannister filter is plastic mesh with fairly large openings. Consequently, a lot of debris (including not just dust) gets past it and works it's way to the foam filter, with some dust getting past the foam filter as well, and getting to the HEPA filter in a short period of time...I've only had this vacuum for like 3 wks and the HEPA filter is already showing some dust on it. So basically, although yes this vacuum is auto-emptying with the doc, it's certainly not maintenance free. I find myself having to disassemble the cannister and clean the foam filters every other vacuuming or so...whereas with the previous Sharks, I had to do it maybe every 20th vacuuming. So that itself kind of sux, but more importantly, I suspect this filter issue is the main cause for the negative reviews here about loss of suction and poor battery performance. With this filter requiring servicing so much more regularly than expected, I'm sure owners are unintentionally not addressing it, and consequently are losing suction, with the battery working overtime trying to compensate for it thx to the Powerdetect feature. Next is the issue with the vacuum head locking in the stowing position. It does this just way too easily when unintentional, requiring you to constantly having to unlock it by stepping on the vacuum head. Between this and the trigger on the handle (more on that below), I find myself paying more attention to how I handle this vacuum than I should have to be. And in any case, the locking head is not even warranted here, considering this vacuum has a dock as opposed to being free-standing when stowed. So this is just an entirely pointless feature which is also a total hassle. My other gripe is fairly trivial, but it does bug, and that's the button placement. You would think the power button would be the trigger on the handle, and the power level selection would be the push button on the vacuum head, but nope. I can't get used to this, and keep hitting the trigger to turn the vacuum off, only then to have to scroll through the options to get back to the Powerdetect level. And then also, the trigger is so sensitive, that I often accidentally hit it by accident while vacuuming, changing the power level...this combined with that locking vacuum head just makes for a needless hassle while vacuuming. My final gripe is a long-standing issue with Shark vacuums in general, after they changed their brush head removal mechanisms from their original design. Yrs ago, they had a little tab on the brush head which you pressed down with your foot, and then pulled off the wand. This was so handy, just pop the wand out of the brush head in order to reach some cobwebs in the ceiling, or some dirt in a crevice or whatever, and then pop the wand back in and go back to vacuuming. Now you got to reach down, push the button, wiggle the darned wand out of the brush head...just annoying to use when you need the wand on it's own for said purpose. Anyways, wow long review, hopefully this will help somebody. Long story short, pretty good vacuum, things to praise, some things not to, but overall a good buy...PROVIDED you get it at a sale price. I see this thing currently (12/12/25) listed at $580, I mean there's NO WAY it's worth this price, sorry.
