This vacuum cleaner is a dream come true for me. I have Berber carpet and several animals. The suction on this vacuum is incredible and picks up every pet hair. I myself have very long hair and every other vacuum cleaner I have ever owned curled the hair around the brushes and I've had to fight with untangling them every time I vacuumed. Not this one! No long hairs in the brushes! Yay!!! This vacuum is easy to maneuver, lightweight and after getting used to the bagless feature...I love it. Every time I use it I see how powerful this little machine is by the contents of the see through canister which I empty every time I use it. There is no odor from bags of pet hair...because there is no bag! It has tablets to insert in the air freshener to freshen the air, too. This vacuum is the best! Carpet level and hardwood floor level. Picks up hair (human and pet) without getting tangled in the roller. I couldn’t believe how much dirt and dust it picked up! I thought my area rug and bedroom carpet were pretty clean! The amount of dirt, dust and hair in the canister I thought it was pulling the fiber out of rug and carpet! I was amazed at the suction power on this vacuum. Only complaint is the cord is very stiff and I am hoping with more use it will be manageable. ... show more

Afier 6 months, changing to 5 stars from 4. This one replaced a mini cleaner from the "D" company, that fell apart after 15 years. (We bought a new one but they are inferior quality now and too big for me.) My review is geared toward older adults with physical issues, either short or long term. I'm older (60's) and suffered the long Pandemic-19 illness after a family member visited and this person and adult daughter took mum to a packed weekend buffet; mum got ill, then passed to me. Physically, I was left weak after it settled in my joints, with back ache after smallest chores for over a year, so I needed a light-weight vacuum as exertion left me with DOMS. This was on a very good price (1/2 of now), easy to assemble, good alternative to the old vac. It's light enough that I don't have to recover for days after using it, but sturdy enough that I think it will last. This Shark works, though I wish the head part of it fit better under my couch, but it's easy to change to the wand. Will never go back to the awful, expensive "D" cleaners, especially for the company that claims to have they've "got just what I need." So glad I found this vac here. After owning and using for 6 months, I'm adding another star. It's easy to set up, easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store, and really works well. The vac has a max and min setting. I didn't realize and was happy using the min setting. After switching it on max though, it blew my old cleaner away off the face of the earth. Nice vacuum, cord is ridiculously rigid. Much quieter than my last shark. Good suction and easy to maneuver. 4 stars because the cord is awful and very rigid. It’s more of a plastic coating than a rubber cord. I will keep it because overall it works well, hope on newer models they figure out the stupid cord though ... show more

I’ve been a loyal Dyson customer for decades, but after my third Dyson died in just over 10 years, I contemplated switching to something else. I have a house full of hair (6 cats, 2 dogs, and 3 kids), so our vacuum is definitely put to the test. After reading numerous reviews, I finally decided to go with the Shark detect lift away. WOW!!! I’m buying a second one immediately to keep in the basement. It’s lightweight - I could hold the canister in one hand and the wand in the other to easily clean the entire staircase. It’s agile - the slightly smaller head, which I was nervous world feel too small and take more movements to clean the same area, actually turned into a pleasant surprise, as it allowed me to reach in between areas I couldn’t get to before. The detect functionality was super helpful transitioning seamlessly between our wood and carpeted floors. The option to detach the canister, or from the wand, or from the handle is super convenient. The attachments work perfectly and the vacuum is much quieter than all my previous Dysons. This is maybe the third review I’ve ever written in my life - I was that satisfied and happy with this purchase. First the functionality I’m looking for, this vacuum is as close to perfect as it could get! ... show more

I’ve been a loyal Dyson user for about 10 years, always replacing one with another whenever it wore out. But this last time, I decided to try a Shark—and honestly, the difference blew me away. Dyson is a good vacuum, but Shark is officially my go-to now. I have six cats and a dog, so I need a vacuum that can really keep up with the constant pet hair and mess. This one absolutely does. Here’s what stood out to me: It’s super lightweight. I didn’t even realize how heavy my old vacuums were until I started using this one. It glides across the floor effortlessly and is really easy to push. The canister is more secure. It has specific buttons and latches to open and empty it, so it feels less messy and more controlled. The deodorizer capsule works. I was skeptical, but it actually makes the air smell fresher after vacuuming, which is a nice touch, especially with pets. The floor light is amazing. I had no idea how helpful a vacuum light could be on tile floors. When I vacuum with the lights dim, every bit of hair and dust lights up, and my house looks noticeably cleaner. The hose handle release is super handy. It makes it really easy to clean around animal cages and window sills without having to wrestle with attachments. SHARK used to make a good vacuum cleaner. But like a lot of companies profit is more important the quality. The cord is very short. This makes it difficult to vacuum a room without moving the cord to another outlet. The cord is also stiff, making it harder to wind up when finished. The hose wand release button gets stuck and won't release the hose wand. There is a small plastic piece that releases the wand. I am sure that this will break because it is a cheap plastic part.
