I researched this vacuum heavily before buying it and honestly I was not sure it was going to be as good as everyone said. I was wrong. The vacuum is stellar. I can tell that it's cleaning the carpet in a way that it was not cleaned by my old Shark vacuum because of what I see in the dust cup as they call it.. it's hardly a cup it's huge. The one thing they don't tell you in all the reviews and videos that I watched is that the motorized brush rollers are really powerful. I'm 72 but fairly strong very physically active/fit and this thing just about ran away with me. It was a workout to use it. Not in a bad way but still a workout. The forward is easy..but on the backstroke you've got to really pull against those brushes that want to go forward. Very impressive results so far. I might update this after three or four months of using it. I have a low pile ribbed carpet and I've been using it on the medium setting which seems to be appropriate for this carpet. I've not tried it on my hardwood floors yet. All I can say is the suction is very strong and puts my older.Shark Navigator and classic Miele cannister vacuum to shame. This is my second Shark Vertex, model az2002. The first one lasted 5 years. The plastic swivel component that attached to the floor vacuum literally broke in pieces, a small piece first, then a large piece, then all of it. It would still vacuum, but not stand up, nor could you maneuver it. Tried repairing, gave up. I replaced it with a Shark Navigator lift away. I had previously owned one of those. After using the Navigator for 7 or 8 months, I decided to go back to the Shark Vertex. My reasons were, the Vertex is self cleaning. I have a great Pyrenees and a shepherd Pyrenees mix, a 2 small dogs. I vacuum every other day. It takes forever when you have to stop and clean the brush roll out. I also have a shag area rug, and when using the Navigator, even with adjusting the suction, it was more of a work out and struggle. I started looking at the Vertex model and caught it on sale on Amazon, I won't say what I paid, but it's a lot cheaper than what the price is now. Having said all this, the Vertex is worth it. The suction surpasses the Navigator, and it even dusts your floors. Long dog hair, no problem, vacuuming the car, got it. I dont find it to be heavy, or cumbersome. The Navigator is a good vacuum, but for me the Vertex is worth it, even if I only get another 5 years out of it. ... show more

Style: PowerDetect w/ Odor Neutralizer
This is by far the best vacuum I have ever owned! Is it a bit on the heavy side, yes, however it is very easy to turn and navigate. Shark has light on all the attachment ends, making it easier to see what you’re trying to get at- the mini self powered attachment head is amazing! You can completely remove the power unit and hose for doing stair which is awesome! The auto cycle is ok- I do find myself flipping through the modes ( just a touch button ) more often than not- It works on everything I’ve noticed so far, a little to well?! It has more power than you think! If you have low profile rugs ( thin runners ) this thing will inhale them. It doesn’t do any damage- it makes it a little annoying. 10/10 recommend this vacuum and yes get the extra refresh tablets for it! You’ll thank me later! ... show more

    • Great upright. Disappointing lift-away vestiges.
Style: DuoClean w/ Odor Neutralizer
Shark Stratos AZ3002. Pros: Great cleaning. Picks up dirt from previously vacuumed carpets. If you plan to use this only as an "upright" without the lift-away feature it is a fine vacuum. Buy it. Cons: Maneuverability isn't bad, but is nowhere near my old Shark UV810 that it replaced. There are only vestiges of the "lift-away" feature that helped make Shark successful with vacuums. The powerhead is wider and heavier, as is the lift-away portion. The wider powerhead may look like an advantage but it is not. I was disappointed my old UV810 had such a small head until I used it and found how easily it maneuvered under and around things. It could also be "steered" easily by turning the wrist. It could even be used easily on stairs with the lift-away feature and with the power button on the removable portion. The on-off power switch has been moved from the lift-away portion where it fell right under the thumb while carrying it, to the handle. Fine for use as an upright, but now need a third hand to operate it as a lift-away or when using tools. The dust container on my Shark UV810 emptied cleanly and easily. It convinced me "bagless" vacuums can be OK. As others have said, the dust container on the AZ3002 is a disaster. Popping it open with the new lever approach sends dust everywhere. Closing it up again sends dust everywhere. I am exploring solutions but it may require taking it outside to empty into the trash. The cord on the AZ3002 is shorter than our old UV810. This is more annoying than you might expect. Features other than pros and cons: The brush roll does seem to be self-cleaning as advertised. It is no longer "brushes," but fins. The old brush was easy and economical to replace. The main roller on the AZ3002 is no longer replaceable. We'll see if it holds up. The brightness of the lights on the AZ3002 disappoint compared to our old UV810, but are fine. They still don't work with the wand and tools. Several reviewers found the cord stiff. I wouldn't have noticed. Yes, as others have noted, tools will not stay on the storage pegs. Plan to carry them around with you. In summary, the AZ3002 excels at cleaning rugs and floors. I miss the convenient lift-away features on our old UV810. I always used it with the lift-away separated, which is now impractical. ... show more
