I bought the lust red color it’s bright and pretty but I would say that it does bleed very easily and if your the type to like rain or take showers often, you might have to dye your hair again over a couple weeks and it may bleed onto your cloths if it rains. Also DONT SWIM WITH THIS DYE. I have a trip coming up and if I got in the water it would dye the whole pool red like BLOOD RED immediately. I really like this product though and it really isn’t that bad it’s not like I feel uncomfortable sleeping in my bed after a shower (tip put a towel on your pillows if you like to sleep with your hair wet like I do and don’t want to risk any damage to your pillows). This is one of two colors that I alternate between with this brand. I like the fact that I can use it as an easy color top up like a conditioner. Sometimes, I do the sit and let it set and sometimes I just put it in right before getting in the shower to get the roots. It dyes the same no matter how I use it. I am severely allergic to permanent hair dye, so have to go with the semi-permanents. The downside with any of these type of dyes is the bleeding of color. It's going to dye your shower and your hands if you don't use gloves while rinsing out. It also fades after a few washings, so you have to reapply. Luckily I only wash my hair once a week. I have been really liking the black from Lunar Tides. It's highly pigmented and goes a long way. I have super thick and long hair and have had a few applications from one container. It has decent coverage over grays, but the gray strands will be the first to reveal themselves when it fades. ... show more

I give this a 4 out of 5 because yes, my color result is similar to the photos (was hoping for a bit deeper red). And this product is better than the Ruby Red splat I used before. But like all vibrantly colored semi permanent hair dyes it WILL stain. Towels, clothes, unprotected skin, tubs, sinks etc… the color took the the lower portion of my hair better than my roots because naturally I’m a light auburn and the sun lightens my hair. My roots took the red but it’s hardly noticeable. It’s best to use this on lighter hair. Don’t expect miracles if you’re a brunette and it doesn’t take. Alright so, I am a quick shopper even online, I’ll check reviews and pictures and maybe check out a YouTube video to see a better view of the color. I however didn’t notice it was vegan, I tend to avoid vegan products because simply I have not found any that meet my expectations for what I need or expect. I understand if it’s a lifestyle/ethical choice, more power to you, live your truth: but me personally, this brand now added to the list along with arctic fox are thumbs down for me. Arctic fox bleeds non stop everywhere, seems to permanently dye anything but your hair, and washes out in about 3 washes. Now with this product Pros: -it did not stain my skin, that was cool -it’s pretty thick so I did not make any kind of mess apply it, again cool -if you want like a fun little change for about a week, this is perfect because it washes out quick. -it didn’t bleed onto my clothes or bedding, or skin when washing my hair But that’s where the pros end Cons: - I couldn’t grip the seal so I used a safety pin to help me get an end up, some of the product came out on the safety pin and I saw even though it was thick, for hair color it’s fairly translucent. Red flag if you are experienced in regularly dying your hair 😩 if you want a lighter version or very temporary color it would be ideal, but for vibrance and hang time NOPE. -just when I rinsed it out, COLD WATER, and used no shampoo I could tell it was going to wash out quick, and I was right, it lasted about 3 washes total, pretty much gone after the 2nd wash honestly. My hair is not over processed or anything that would contribute to loss of color at that rate. I even use baby shampoo since it’s no harsh chemicals and honestly has helped preserve my colors better than any “color saving” products on the market. Another thing I didn’t favor was it didn’t stick to my freshly bleached roots. Again experienced hair artists know that usually will be the brightest spot, as well as bleaching helping seal color in if you do it correctly in a time period. So PRETTY MUCH if you want something temporary, or you’re wanting to test drive a color but not ready to commit; this is perfect. However if you’re looking for something that is long lasting, this is not it. May be a basic bih but I’ve been doing this for 17 years and have tried dozens of dye products and ion color brilliance I personally don’t feel can be beat. Extremely vibrant color, very minimal bleeding/transfer after coloring and even that just depends on the color, you may not get any bleeding or transfer at all. It also lasts a long time, as well as fades evenly so you won’t have splotchy hair as it fades, you’ll just go through lighter shades of Itself. ... show more

I needed almost two bottles and I got the hair lightened and colored professionally but it's SO PRETTY AND SO BRIGHT The stylist did say it was a bit thick though so it might be harder to deal with on your own. Also, it stains skin as well

It says in the description that you don't have to bleach your hair for the color to show through, though the results would be more vibrant and visible if you did. I did not bleach mine first (partly because my hair was faded and mostly lighter than my natural hair color due to my last dye job also going 100% wrong) and at first it looked like it was gonna work and look how I wanted it to, but when I rinsed it out after almost 2 hours of it being in my hair, my skin, my mother's shower wall, bathtub, shower curtain, etc. had more visible results in the vibrant color difference department. It was worse than a murder scene because my mother had just paid $100 to have her bathroom cleaned a day or two prior, and the look on her face and the heartbreak in her voice broke me so bad all I could do was bawl my eyes out and try to scrub everything down with very little success. I'm gonna try using it again with bleach when it's warmer outside so I can use her water hose to rinse it out this time. My hair mostly looks like my natural color and I've only washed it once since I dyed it last month. ... show more
