  • Best hard drive for Mac
Style: External HDD Capacity: 4TB
I'm not sure why I have so much trouble with external hard drives, but this was by far the easiest to set up for a mac, it works great in the background, and can fit all I need on it. Will definitely keep this one in my cart so I don't forget this brand when I need another one!!

  • Big photo storage for the home
Style: Desktop Hub Capacity: 16TB
I bought the 16TB unit with front USB hub to store photographs and some miscellaneous files. My unit is connected to a dual-boot (Windows 10 & Ubuntu) laptop workstation through a USB hub. After I connected the USB cable, I plugged in the drive's power cord and Seagate One Touch Hub fired right up. I moved 50,000 files, totaling about 500GB to the drive to confirm that everything was working, and then fired up Lightroom and had it 'add' a year's worth of pictures to it's catalog. Everything worked fine. I then booted up Ubuntu to confirm that Ubuntu could see and access the disk, and it did so without any issues. While I did not benchmark the unit, it's speed seemed typical of other hard drives. That is, while much slower than a SSD, is plenty fast enough for photo storage. The unit has only a very small disk activity LED on the front of the unit. There are no other lights on the unit. When you first add the unit to a Windows system, the drive will appear in the 'Desktop' view of the File Manager. Normally File Manager defaults to showing you the 'Quick Access' - Frequent Folders and Recent Files view. The unit isn't silent - no hard disk drive is - and it does make sounds when it's spinning the disk platters up to speed after 'sleeping' and when the disk is moving the disk heads to read or write a file. The rest of the time the unit is essentially silent. It's safe to say that this disk is nosier than any disk I've had before (it's also a LOT bigger than any disk I've had before), but the sounds this unit makes are no louder than everyday background office noises. Personally, I don't find them objectionable. I am pleased with the 16TB Seagate One Touch Hub I purchased. The unit is performing like I expected it to, and I expect it will serve me well for a number of years. ... show more

  • These are garbage if you use a program to see what the specs really are
Style: Desktop Hub Capacity: 20TB
Ok first off, most of these are EXYOS or IRONWOLF drives with no warranty, just the warranty for the plastic case. second off, if you use something like usbtree or hdsentinel you'll see seagate is purposely limiting the SATA speed to SATA II, so even though these advertise sata 3.2 10GB you wont get better than 3GB (like it makes a difference, it's just techno babble and tech lies). Dont buy these, do yourself a favor, buy the enterprise drive thats like 10 less for no chassis and buy a REAL usb 3.2 2x2 usb chassis so you get a 5 year drive warranty (if you go seagate, WD you can complain and get a 5 year warranty for anything). but these are garbage with how they SAY they are 10Gpbs usb 3.2 but are only connecting at SATA II speeds (they do connect at sata III on a real enclosure). Dont let the prettiness or worthless hub fool you, because you are paying extra for JUNK cases that cripple the drive ... show more

  • Plug and go
Style: Desktop Capacity: 14TB
I just got this so not reviewing long term performance. Unboxed it, came well protected in box. It came with multiple plug in adapters for different countries. Plugged it into my computer. When viewing the storage on this 14tb drive it's only 12.7TB. Some difference is expected but that seems like a lot. I started moving data from a smaller external drive and it worked perfectly. Transferring data at 40MBs. My computer is at least 7 years old so newer may work faster. I can hear a hum coming from it. I'll have to unplug it at night to sleep. Most people probably wouldn't be bothered by the sound but noises really bother me. ... show more

  • Worked without having to download any software
Style: External HDD Capacity: 4TB
My HP laptop and HP PC recognized the drive as soon as it was plugged in. There was no need to download any software. It was pretty easy to transfer documents from each computer's main drives to this Seagate drive as well as from other external drives to this Seagate disk. I bought this large capacity storage disc to download a huge number of files that I have been storing on an internet cloud service. The company has been hiking its fees so I wanted to retrieve all my files, delete them from this cloud storage service and then upload them to a different cloud storage provider. My data files seemed to download easily from the cloud storage service. But when I tried to open them on this Seagate drive, I couldn't find them at first. I finally hit an icon on my computer that said SHOW HIDDEN FILES and my data was all on this Seagate drive. I am technically illiterate so this is likely my incompetency rather than a flaw in this disc. I am pretty happy with the ease of using this Seagate drive and the drive's overall storage capacity. ... show more
