First one would not format due to excessive i/o errors. Replacement arrived in 48 hours, no fuss, no problems. Capacity is excellent. Would recommend a full surface scan before investing in a format (takes over 24 hours). This 2" drive is 15mm thick rather than the more normal 9mm so doesn't fit into many of the standard external drive cans, nor into the Dell R495D internal caddy. Had to buy an Inatek metal caddy which solved the problem, as long as you don't use their pan-head screws. Make sure you have 15mm clearance where you are going to install this as it has twice as many platters as the normal 9mm 2TB disk - but well worth having the extra disk space. First, you should know that these are bare OEM drives, not retail versions. They come in generic packaging in a sealed anti-static bag. I mention they are bare drives because personally, I bought thinking I was getting the retail version due to the picture posted for the product. So, I bought two of these 4TB hard drives to use with an Oyen Digital USB-C enclosure. Its been a week, and so far I have transferred over 1TB of data onto each drive and they are both running strong without issue. I have them in an aluminum enclosure, so everything is running cool. The drives seem quiet and transfer data at descent speeds. To tell you the truth, I thought these drives, being only 5400RPM and 2.5", were going to be much slower then they were. I don't have any exact benchmarks, but I'm impressed with the speed. Lets see how long these last now..being my first high capacity 2.5" drives, I'm more than curious. ... show more

Drive failed after a little under a year of semi-regular use (This is an OEM drive, not retail as advertised on the listing. No warranty.), otherwise the capacity and speeds were as advertised. Wouldn't recommend unless you just need to store some trivial data temporarily. Don't use to store anything of importance, the drive WILL fail sooner rather than later. ... show more

Take note that if you are considering this drive for a laptop, there's a good chance it won't fit. It would be good for the seller to post that fact immediately and obviously in their listing. Open the bag to check it out and there goes your opportunity to return the thing.

Was hoping that this would fit into my laptop, but it is 8mm too thick. Thus, will be using as an external. Since I've used this type before (and converted it to an external), I'm not worried; the brand speaks for itself. I've never had any trouble with Seagate Barracuda, and it also works with Seagate Dashboard for backing up files. ... show more

Ordered 3 and did not received what was ordered. Bait and switch. I have attached a picture of what you actually will get. They are still good drives, and I did check. They are new. Power on cycles and hours are both 0, just not OEM and does not have the warranty claimed in the listing.
