I purchased this drive to use for archiving photos and videos. Works just fine for that. Speed may not be fast enough for using as a primary drive, but great for backups.

    • Very good enterprise hard drive
The hard drive arrived early, very well packaged, kudos to Amazon and Worldwide. The drive is exactly as described and passed all tests and some serious checks. It performs about as well as a much newer Seagate Exos drive, and I'm very pleased. There is one con, it runs too warm. At idle in a decently vented case it runs about 46 deg C and this increases to 49 deg C under load. This seems to be design, because swapping in other drives to test they run cooler; and moving this drive around doesn't cause it to run cooler. On the plus side, this drive has never gone over 50 deg C under any load. If you can live with the heat, this is a really excellent drive. I had intended to test this one and then buy more for a rack of drives, but they would run too hot. I imagine, though I didn't check, that current draw is also a little higher. This drive runs so well that I went to the Seagate website hoping to find a firmware update. No such luck. Now I will have to see if there is some other way. It looks like Seagate now has SeaChest for Linux, I will try that. ... show more

    • Great drive, but has mounting problems
I tried to put this drive in my phanteks enthoo primo case, and only one set of the pegs on the wings on the sides of of the drive caddy could grip the drive, since the drive was missing holes/threads at the spot that they would normally be. I haven't had this issue on any other drive. As for whether it will work in your case depends on said case. My caddies are tool less, and I imagine other tool less case owners should tread with caution, but with that said, I was able to get the drive in my case, granted with the caddy wings bulging, so I'm assuming it's because of the design of the phanteks drive cage, more specifically, separation between drive caddies. ... show more

    • The 1st one was DOA, The replacement process was painless and quick
The 1st drive I received was inaccessible, I couldn't fix it I couldn't even low level format. However replacement was straightforward. the replacement has worked flawlessly and is in daily use.

    • Good drive, works great and fast too.
I got this drive to replace the RAID0 I had with one drive dying. It works great, so far I have it on continuously for 2 weeks now and there was no issues. The temperature does not get over 50 degree C. So it stays cool even though I run it 24x7.

I'm using this drive (6 of them actually) in 2 different Synology NAS devices. DS420+ and DS220+. They run fast and are not hot. (See attached image) The drive rails work just fine for securing the drives. The drives showed zero hours, zero bad sectors, zero fingerprints and were in a sealed box/static bag.     • Drives seem fine, but..
They appear to be fine but are warranted by the seller, not by Seagate. That may not be a problem but knowing little about these guys, if one fails in a couple of years , it is just not the same.

    • Great drive and company
Well packaged for a stand alone drive. Easy to follow instructions and easy to install. Used as additional storage it works great. It won't win any speed transfer races but works great for general everyday use. A good drive and good company to get it from.
