The lid has significant gaps in the flaps, both where they meet and on the sides, not forming a seal as advertised, and allowing odor to escape. At the time of this review the gaps are not visible from the photo, leading me to belive this intentionally misleading

I’ve used Slim Jim style cans for years, so I was honestly excited to finally replace a broken lid that gave up many moons ago. This one feels like a solid upgrade. The plastic is thick and well made. It snaps onto my slim can securely and the swing top works smoothly for quick, hands-free use. I also appreciated the included sorting stickers- a small touch, but genuinely useful if you’re separating trash, recycling, or compost. What stood out most is the durability. I’ve dropped plenty of these lids over the years, and the older, thinner plastic versions tend to crack or warp. This one feels much tougher and like it will handle bumps and drops better than the typical budget lids. The main downside is the price. At close to $50, it’s definitely on the expensive side for a plastic lid. That said, the build quality does feel better than many cheaper options. Overall, if you already own a compatible slim can and want a sturdier long-term replacement lid, this is a good quality option and just be aware of the higher price point. ... show more

I use this lid on a trash can that has a low open front designed so you can sweep debris directly into it. Before adding the lid, the trash can always looked messy and exposed. Once this lid was installed the whole setup immediately looked cleaner and more organized. The lid fits the can well and sits securely on the rim without sliding around. It keeps the contents out of direct view, which makes the area look much less cluttered. Cleaning it is simple as well. When changing the bag I can wipe the lid down with a wet rag in just a few seconds and it looks good again. The plastic seems fairly durable as well. I’ve accidentally dropped the lid onto the floor several times while handling the trash can and it hasn’t cracked or broken. There are a couple things to be aware of with the design. The inward swinging panels operate on a pivot rather than a spring return. Because of that, if the trash bag pushes up against them from inside they sometimes do not swing back on their own. It is easy enough to nudge them back into place, but it is something to know. Also, the lid is not meant to support weight. If something heavy is placed on top it can collapse inward around the rim of the can. It also does not seal odors, which is simply the nature of this type of lid.
