I absolutely loved this dye! Ive tried different black hair dyes and they all seem to be a little exaggerated on the black like you can tell its dyed. I've been wanting one that looked natural and this one is it! I love it and will be purchasing more in the future !

It was by accident that I found it on Amazon. They carry WAY MORE color selections than retail stores do and their prices are LESS than half what the big rx chain charges. GREAT FIND. Wonderful product have used it for over 20 yrs and no other color manufacturers make a better product.

So....I thought that this would work, as it's darker than the brown that my hair was previously colored. I have strong gray regrowth as well, and it was a few inches long, as I was waiting between colorings to let my hair detox a bit. My hair is in great condition, thick, about shoulder length. There was enough in the bottle that I had about a quarter left over. I'd recommend two bottles for longer hair. My hair brushes the tops of my shoulders and doesn't go past. My hair was brown, and I had two bleached 'chunks' in the front, one on the top layers of my hair, one as peekaboo under the top layer. They were pretty wide. I was going for a two-tone, but one that I could wear to the office. This color is a pretty brown, smoky purple on the bleached areas. Otherwise, there's only a faint sheen/no deposit at all on my brown hair. As far as gray coverage? I did the full thirty minutes and started on my roots, so that color was on my roots for a bit longer than the length. And I can't say that it covered my grays well enough that I'd use this color again. I might, just to see if it does better next time or has better coverage on the older gray strands as it layers, but I'm not sure. My 'grays' are light silver and this couldn't entirely cover them. There's obvious less deposit on the silver strands verses the browns. The good news is that because I have more gray than brown coming in, the coverage looks pretty uniform. It's just not what I wanted. On my roots, it's a nice, smoky brown, with some lighter streaks where the gray is. On my bleached areas, it's the box color and looks really pretty. Over the existing brown dye, there's pretty much nothing that's changed. So, if you've colored your hair darker, do a prebleach. You don't need to do a harsh one or to do it for long. Just lift your hair to a lighter brown/darker copper, and this should work fine on it. Don't forget to wait a couple of days between bleaching and dying and to moisturize the crap out of your hair. I recommend Perfect Hair Day for colored hair. It's extremely nourishing and worth the price to have silky soft hair after bleaching. ... show more

I use to use their old red they use to make and they had a rebrand or changes somethings and they longer have that red and the ones they have just dont stand up to the one they've had in the past. Still a cute color just want the old red color back!

I wanted a super jet black and I definitely got it. Very, very sexy dark black, vibrant, and it did not make my hair damaged, at least not that I could tell. I was a bit shocked boxed dye could accomplish that. My shower stall…that was another story. I had dye everywhere- 10 rinses and black dye was still coming out. It took about a full week until my hair washed clean during my daily showers (and sometimes I shower twice if I work out). For this reason alone, I wouldn’t get it again. I needed to hire a deep cleaner to get rid of the mess bc my shower walls were just dyed themselves, particularly the grout between the tiles.
