  • Good for the price, with a few exceptions
Capacity: 120GB Style: SSD
I had looking for an inexpensive solid drive since I got my PC tower and couldn't resist this SSD because of the brand-name and price. At the discount price of thirty dollars it's a steal. My need for a solid-state disk is different from most users. My tower already has a 256 GB Samsung PCI SSD that it boots off of and 3 terabytes of mechanical disk storage. While this is more than adequate for normal usage, editing files in Photoshop / After Effects started to become a pain as the boot disk filled up and the mechanical hard drive proved too slow for rapid storage. This Sandisk SSD provided a great and inexpensive "scratch disk" to store temporary files on. Installing it in my PC tower was unfortunately a bit of a pain and one of the reasons I only gave the disk four stars instead of five. The packaging is minimal and does not include any extra cables or instructions. Fortunately enough my PC motherboard already included a SATA cable when I bought it. After getting the disk installed and connected I booted up my PC only to find that Windows did not recognize any drive. Well, it turns out that the drive was fully operational and just didn't come preformatted for some reason. Using the disk management software built into Windows fixed that. As for the performance, it's adequate for the price. The write speeds are somewhat disappointing because they're only slightly faster than the speeds my 7200 RPM drive usually obtains, but the read speeds are over 10x as fast. There's also a noticeable improvement when working in applications like Photoshop, save operations typically only take a few seconds now compared to the ten second save times I was getting with mechanical hard drives. The capacity is more than enough for a scratch disk. Overall I like the SSD despite a few faults. Most users should be able to get a good performance out of it. ... show more

  • Blazing fast, TYJ!
Capacity: 120GB Style: SSD
I have an older laptop, first Gen i7. I used it to run SolidWorks, office suite, internet about 5 years ago till about 2 years ago. I had windows 7 and it was doing ok but upgraded to windows 10, not by choice. I was not using it daily at the time but wow, it took 2 days to start up once after an update. I retired it but never replaced it, just used my work desktop to do what I needed to and occasionally used my wife's laptop, which is a chore because she wants me to ask for permission and is anal about settings or programs! (whatever) Before my engineering days, I was in IT, got my A+ certification (NT) and went to work while trying to go to school. Long story short - I purchased this SolidState Hard Drive to put in my old retired laptop and couldn't be happier! I ditched the windows route and put Linux mint on here. this SOB blazes facebook like a boss! takes 16 seconds to boot up. I wish I could use the software to monitor the health of my drive but SanDisk offers NO support for Linux and there isn't a Wine out for Mint edition yet. This is my first Linux install in ten years or more, so I don't know If I am going to keep it or not. Its so minimal and fast, the hard drive has no reason to kill itself! In the even this pc or the HDD or SSD (lol caught my self) dies after my one year SanDisk warranty expires, I will probably put 3 or so bullets in it! I don't game but I might purchase AutoCad to install on here. So its not in vain... ... show more

  • An excellent Operating System drive!
Capacity: 120GB Style: SSD
This is my first foray into the world of SSDs from HDDs, and it’s incredible. First, the price. You can find this on sale for very cheap all the time, so if you want to see how fast an SSD is, it’s perfect for testing the waters. Windows 7 went from a 25 second boot time down to 10, and Windows 10 boots slightly faster than that. Second, the speed of the drive. You shouldn’t be expecting top-of-the-line performance in a drive at this price range, but it gets the job done for what it is. Afformented boot times were a great improvement nonetheless, and Windows itself becomes very snappy. Programs installed onto the drive load just as fast, which helps if you have multiple applications booting on startup. You’ll experience zero slowdown in getting on your OS. If you’re planning on using this model for gaming however, I’d recommend looking at a higher storage capacity. Games DO load faster, both on start and ingame, but with how high filesizes are in this generation you’ll be looking at room for few titles after you have Windows, your updates, and your programs installed. It doesn’t help that Windows recognizes the drive capacity to be around 110GB rather than 120. All in all, if you still use an HDD for your operating system install, I would highly recommend this as an upgrade, but certainly not for game storage. ... show more

Capacity: 120GB Style: SSD
Bought this 2 years ago to replace the hard drive of my old laptop, It is a good improvement for my old laptop, the old hard drive was really failing and this one fix my problem, I don’t use my laptop daily so for me it didn’t make sense to buy another laptop, my old laptop came with windows 7 and I upgraded to windows 10, so far I don’t have any complaints ... show more

  • Excellent Product
Capacity: 120GB Style: SSD
Great price! The best thing about this product is that in addition to this, all you need to buy is a cable, and Casper Backup Software, and you can back up your whole computer system, including windows, applications, apps, files etc., so you have a 100% mirror image of your current drive. So if your current disk crashes, no worries, plug this one in and you are up and running again in less than 5 minutes. And your computer will look exactly the same as before the crash. Truly a plug and play product. Download Casper to your PC, plug in this drive to a USB port, and click on backup. Done. The first time you do a backup, it can take several hours. However after that, the backups only take a few minutes, because it only updates based on the changes since your last backup. Phenomenal set of products. You need no computer knowledge to do this. It is as simple as I stated. Period. Everybody needs to do this. ... show more
