  • Worth the price for quality backup!
Size: 1TB Style: Old Generation - up to 1050MB/s
The media could not be loaded. The Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB drive is an amazing product by a quality manufacturer. I opted for the 1TB model for the simple reason that I am a college student with very little money. Otherwise I would have went with the 4TB model as that is the storage space I needed. The speed of transfer is blazing fast. I filled this drive completely full in less than 10 minutes of recieveing it, I am an on the go music producer and needed a reliable drive for my software and audio tools. Without a doubt the drive feels like a premium material and is very well constructed. Immediately after plugging in to any of my laptops the security window appears and allows me to unlock the drive without any issues at all. I really like the included cables it comes with, which both are quality connections USB-C to USB-C and the other one is USB-C to USB-A. I highly recommend this drive to anyone who is looking for a backup drive that isn't going to fail on you like mechanical drives do, as this is SSD and has no moving parts. As Sandisk is still owned by Western Digital I was a little hesitant at first glance because of a previous external 5TB drive id purchased which as you can imagine the amount of data that was lost when that drive failed on me. Let me put it into perspective, I lost 15+ years of music production assets id made for several sample packs which were to be sold on several storefronts and project files all worth around $400,000 give or take a few thousand bucks. All lost due to a random drive failure. Thats a different product offered by Western Digital and does not apply to this Sandisk Extreme Pro, however i simply had some reservations in terms of choosing this backup drive as to rebuild my life after that last one. Overall, this Sandisk Extreme Pro 1TB is a quality product and so far is worth the price, I would suggest going with the larger sized models if you can afford it because 1TB isn't much. ... show more

  • Fast and Portable External Drive
Size: 1TB Style: Old Generation - up to 1050MB/s
I picked up a SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable External SSD to replace a slow Western Digital My Passport Ultra drive (120 MB/s read and write times). I wanted a fast and portable drive that I could use to store my backup files as well as store and run Parallels Virtual machines from. This would save 100+ GB on my MacBook Pro SSD. I am very happy with the purchase so far. The build quality and device size is nice, it is simple to use, and fast. I didn't expect to see 1050 MB/s speeds, but was surprised (and happy) to see the 950 MB/s results. Real world file transfer speeds looked like they scaled appropriately based on the file size and file transfer time. Drive Tested: SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable External SSD Advertised speed: Up to 1050 MB/s (775% speed increase over WD My Passport Ultra) Highest actual speed: 950 MB/s (691% speed increase over WD My Passport Ultra) Host Device: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018) 2.6 GHz i7 / 16 GB / 500 GB / 560X macOS Catalina 10.15.6 (19G73) BlackMagic Speed Test Results (APFS Format, 1 GB Stress Setting): SanDisk Drive Connected directly to MacBook Pro Thunderbolt 3 port: 950 MB/s Read and Write MacBook Pro Connected to Dell Thunderbolt 3 Dock (WD19TB) SanDisk Drive Connected to the front USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port of the Dell Thunderbolt Dock 900 MB/s Read and Write MacBook Pro Connected to Dell Thunderbolt 3 Dock (WD19TB) SanDisk Drive Connected to the front USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 port of the Dell Thunderbolt Dock 400 MB/s Read and Write Real World File Transfer Resuts: I copied from\to the SanDisk SSD that was directly connected to my MacBook Pro Thunderbolt 3 port. • Great size and lots of storage
Size: 1TB Style: Old Generation - up to 1050MB/s
After having horrible luck with regular hard drives, I had to move onto solid state technology for my photo backups. There is always a chance any drive can fail, but this type doesn't have moving parts like older drives do and at risk of crashing and issues. I love the small size and speed as well. If it works quite hard, you can feel it get warm, so it's best to keep that in mind, but I have not had an issue as yet. ... show more

  • Pretty decent speed for USB 3.1gen2, however QC could be better
Size: 500GB Style: Old Generation - up to 1050MB/s
Review for "Sandisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD 500GB E80": + Speed is pretty decent for this price point (reaching ~970MBps in both sequential read or write) + Not overheated; temperature under heavy use during benchmark still acceptable + Compact form factor; similar design to the previous model (E60) but with additional metal trim around edges + Two cables supplied instead of USB C to A adapter (1 short cable C-to-C + 1 short cable C-to-A) - QC from manufacturer could be better; item is factory sealed but trim around the logo looks chipped and faded in several places - Price is almost 50% higher than previous model (E60) ... show more

  • Good expansion drive if you have USB-C
Size: 500GB Style: Old Generation - up to 1050MB/s
I use this drive to expand the storage on my gaming laptop. I tried attaching it to the back directly with Velcro stickers but the heat from the drive kept melting the glue. I found the best mounting option was to mount a Command hook to the back and hang it from the lanyard hole. I'm able to run modern games (Control, Pretty, Jedi: Fallen Order) directly from the drive with no delay or loading time. ... show more
