  • It worked
This product actually does take out the red. This stubborn color had not been refreshed for three months and it was still hanging on with no sight of leaving after green shampooing and no fade I decided to try this out. It brought it back to before I dyed it now it’s not blonde but I also didn’t tone after bleaching to help bring the orange and red out in the dye so it brought it back to the color it was prior to adding any color so it really does work though it really is stinky! I will say it’s not a strong smell like bleach it’s more like a really bad fart so just be warned about that and it does say it won’t affect your natural hair color though when I put it in and it got my roots that are my natural color it did strip the red out of some of my strands ... show more

  • Did not remove ANY color.
I bought this after doing some research and seeing that it was a good alternative to remove dye without damaging your hair. I dyed my hair with Manic Panic Semi-Permanent hair dye early December of 2021. I hadn’t redyed my hair since so I figured the color would come out easily. The directions itself were pretty straightforward, mix a 1:1 ratio of both bottles, apply to dry unwashed hair, wash after 20mins. I did exactly that and noticed there wasn’t really any color in the water and then saw in the mirror that my color looked practically the same. I was planning on cutting my hair already so I did that while my hair was wet after rinsing, blow dried it, and then went in for a second attempt at it. The second time around was a lot more disappointing than the first, there was no color in the water and my hair looked exactly the same. I used Head and Shoulders to wash my hair and it took out more color than the Color Reverse did in 2 attempts. The worst part about this entire process was the smell of the remover. It stank up the bathroom and it eventually went away after opening a window and using an incense but the problem is that the smell also got stuck on my hair and it smelled awful. It was an extremely prominent smell so I used deep conditioner, showered afterwards using my regular shampoo and conditioner, and then put on leave in conditioner yet after all of that the smell only went away slightly. My boyfriend described the smell at that point as wet dog which sucked since i went to work the same day. All in all none of the color was removed and it left my bathroom and me smelling like crap, I do not recommend this product whatsoever. ... show more

  • Definitely works
I have been coloring my hair for years. I would go back and forth with going to a salon or just grabbing a cheap box dye and doing it myself. I did a deep burgundy red in Nov 2023, and then went dark brown for Christmas so with that being said I had a lot going on. As you can see my hair is definitely lighter. I’m not a huge fan of the color BUT it’s a process! Reading the reviews a lot of people said the smell is horrible, it’s not a good smell but I don’t think it’s going to take weeks to air out of my house. Maybe working in a hospital has helped me with the smell issue. I am pleasantly surprised that my hair is super soft, no damage! Unlike when I go lighter with bleach and I have a ton of breakage and very dry. This is a great product it did what it says it does! ... show more

  • Stripped the dark well, but not the red tones.
My hair naturally is a dark blonde. Like so many others, I wanted to save some dollars and dye my hair myself, so bought a dark brown/red dye and it turned my hair a nice burgundy purple-- NOT what I wanted. I then waited a week and dyed it again, an ash brown, which took out some red but also darkened it to almost black-again not what I wanted. I bought this color stripper hoping to at least take my hair lighter a few shades, so that I could go back over it with a lighter ash color. It stripped out the dark color very well, and left it a coppery orange color, as pictured. Then I was able to re-dye and get kind of what I was going for in the first place. Lol. I'm glad I bought it- I don't feel like it hurt my hair, and it did strip the dark color out well. I wish it had taken out more red, but it worked ok for what I was hoping. The second pic is after I dyed it for the final time, after stripping the dark brown/black out. ... show more

  • SMELLY
i didn’t leave it on the full time as i was hoping to fade rather than remove so i can’t speak to the efficacy, but the smell is TERRIBLE. I gagged. My roommate gagged. We lit four candles. It smells like a fart gun. Like ass. Prepare to plug your nose.

  • Works!
I have naturally dark brown hair and spent waaaayyyy too much money having a stylist try to make it warm LIGHT brown. She made it basically blonde, then died it back to really dark brown after two attempts at correction. I couldn't bring myself to go back for a third so I gave this a try. I used a little $1.50 plastic squeeze bottle from the travel section at target to apply it. The first photo is my hair made dark by the stylist (looked way darker in person), this removed it all the way to the second photo blonde-ish color the stylist had lifted to, and then I used Natural Instincts semi-permanent lightest brown to get it to a color I'm happy with in the third photo. It didn't smell nearly as bad as some reviewers say. Didn't seem to damage my hair any worse than it was. I did wrap in plastic as someone recommended but didn't apply heat. Good product! ... show more
