  • Very successful and pleasantly surprised
I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO REMOVE BOX DYE Guys I NEVER write reviews but I wanted to come on here and leave one because it’s always super helpful for me. I am a natural brunette and last week I got my hair bleached and went fully blonde. I instantly hated it and resorted to box dye the next day. The box dye was uneven so I boxed dyed it AGAIN the day after and my whole head turned black. The dye I got was supposed to be a light brown and turned all of my har black. My hair was also super dry and looked dead. I ordered this in search of a color remover that would not turn my hair orange (since I had bleach underneath it). I also read that this stuff is gentle on your hair. When I tell you it worked so well! I did a strip test of my hair first and then did my full head because I liked the color so much. It surprisingly did not turn my hair orange! My hair after using this is currently a light brown and maybe a slight red undertone but not noticeable at all. This is also super gentle on my hair and my hair feels so much healthier after removing the box dye. I only kept it in 15 minutes because I was scared that my hair would turn orange (which it didn’t). The only downside to this is that it does smell putrid. I assume there some type of sulphur product in this because it smells like someone threw up a rotten egg. The smell also kinda lingered in my hair even after shampooing 3 times. ... show more

  • Definitely worth a try Definitely worth a try
This really did help so much. I was feeling washed out w the blond and did a big oopsie with way too dark toner. I had that fixed at a salon and ended up a nice dark brown. I liked it but my roots are just too gray and I don't want to maintain that. Salerm didn't completely remove the color but definitely lifted enough to see highlights. What I did: Mixed all of both bottles, saturated my hair, put on a clear shower cap and laid down by a floor heater. So many reviews said heat helped it work better so I did that and for 25 min. Washed with suave clarifying shampoo several times. Then did the 1:1 vol 10 developer w water, 3 min, rinse. I do think this darkened it back a little. I wonder how long you have to rinse so that it doesn't do that- ugh?? My advice is rinse as long as you can stand it. Anyway, it was very warm so I toned it light ash blonde for like 5 min. It does smell like baby poo, but after all the washing, developer, toning and a protein conditioner treatment, mine smelled good. And felt wonderful. Not dry or crunchy at all. Totally worth a try if you are unhappy w a dye job. ... show more

  • Hoo
“I used Color Reverse to remove black hair dye and it actually worked really well. My hair became much lighter and the dark color was gone. The only downside is that you cannot apply new hair dye for about 15 days, otherwise the black color can come back. Overall, it’s a good product if you are patient and follow the instructions carefully. ... show more

  • It was worth the effort and I’m happy with result It was worth the effort and I’m happy with result
Excellent!! As far what you’ll read about the smell - it’s correct- horrible - however to put it context- once mixed it typical salon chemical smell - so if you’ve ever been a salon doing perms or straighteners it’s just like tha! Did NOt damage my hair. Been black coloring for years. It didn’t remove and I got a reverse ombre style. It’s good — lifted multiple colors but not to root. I did apply is evenly and I did also leave it in a full hour and 10 minutes. ... show more

  • Did the job, and some…
Well, it did remove the black Demi dye from my hair but it certainly didn’t restore my hair back to its natural color. My hair is naturally a medium reddish brown and it turned it veryyyy copper. Super light at the base but darker at the ends (mostly out of the light) after two rounds. It definitely was stinky, like sulfur. And my hair still smelled of it after 5 washes with shampoo and a deep conditioning mask. In fact it still smells like it now, 5 days later, after multiple more washes. On the plus side, my hair looks very shiny and doesn’t feel overly processed. I it’s kind of a nice shade for summer too. I mixed equal parts in a bowl. Put on some rubber gloves and worked through sections of my hair, totally saturating it all. I think I would have preferred to start at the bottom up to midway and let that develop a little and finish up the the roots the last 15 mins. I piled my hair atop my head and wrapped foil around it all. I left it for 35 mins to be sure, but the original 25 mins would probably have sufficed. The last 3-5 mins I blow dried the outside of the foil for extra measure. Then I rinsed in the shower, used a clarifying shampoo 5 times because I could still smell that stinky eggy smell in my hair. I was over it at that point and applied a deep conditioning mask for 5 mins. Rinsed with very hot water, then a cold blast. I was anxious to see what the heck I just did, so I applied my usual products and styled. It’s kinda growing on me… ... show more

  • It works!
It removed my black blue hair dye and left my hair medium brown(my natural hair color) with no damage. It did have hints of orange/red but I don’t care because I just wanted to remove the blue black. It does have a strong smell and had to wash my hair 2 days in a row to remove it. Make sure you rinse your hair for a long time. ... show more

  • Effective color remover with no hair damage
This color remover is excellent. It helped me effectively remove black dye, and the best part is that it did not damage my hair at all. The process was gentle, left my hair in very good condition, and ready for a new color. It truly delivers what it promises. Even though I don’t need it right now, I would use it again without hesitation. I highly recommend it. ... show more

  • May or may not work, but worth a try
OVERVIEW: This product didn’t work for me. BUT I can’t give it 1 star because my neighbor used it and it worked great for her. So I think if you use it under the right conditions, it can be an excellent product. BACKGROUND: My kids had very pink hair from a box dye and needed it gone before school started. They are naturally bleach-blonde so the pink dye was very apparent. They dyed our neighbor’s kid’s hair with the same product who also has naturally bleach-blonde hair. Her parents used this product within a few days of the dye and it removed almost everything - only a light streak of pink was still visible. That’s when I tried it on my girls - but at that point, the pink had been in for several weeks. When I tried it, it didn’t do much. It maybe lightened some streaks, but the overall bright pink appearance was still there. I tried multiple applications. CON: This item comes with poor instruction. I couldn’t understand the instructions, the print was tiny so I could barely read it, and they seemed to reference another product that wasn’t included in this kit. I had to search the web, which unfortunately had different opinions on how this should be used. I ultimately followed the written instructions while skipping over mention of the other product I didn’t have. I confirmed my neighbor applied it the same way since her application actually worked. CON: The smell is awful. My kids complained about it. But I understand why it has to smell that way due to the needed ingredients. PRO: Very easy to use and apply once you understand how. The kit comes with all needed materials/tools. PRO: The amount is plentiful. I had enough to apply multiple applications on two kids and still had plenty left over. And one of my kids has very thick, long hair that took an extra amount of product. OVERALL: In my opinion, the price for this product is right if you’re desperate and want to give it a try. I would definitely try it if the dye you’re trying to remove is only a day or two old. If it’s older, this may work for you but don’t get your hopes up. But given the overall value for the money if it DOES work, I think it’s worth a try. ... show more
