Description

How long does semi-permanent hair dye last? Ideally, your color should last several weeks, but results may vary based on your hair health, how pigmented your dye is, how often you wash your hair, and your lifestyle and hair styling habits. What do you mean by Full Coverage? Our full-coverage hair dyes are our most pigmented, super-saturated formulas and are designed to gradually fade over the course of several weeks. Do I need to bleach before using this hair dye? Our damage-free hair dyes are formulated without bleach or chemical lighteners, so they won’t lighten your hair. As such, you’ll notice the best color payoff when you start with light hair. What colors are best for darker hair? Some of our most pigmented shades include Chocolate Cherry, Sea Witch, Mystic, Valentine, Flaming Red, and Anime. When used on dark hair, these dyes deposit a cute, subtle tint of color. How much Unicorn Hair Dye will I need? We suggest 1 jar for short, bob-length hair, 2-3 jars for hair reaching between the shoulders and waist, and at least 3 jars for hair that reaches beyond the tailbone.

  • STUNNING 10/10 🌟
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
This dye is straight fireeeee, I prelightened my hair to almost a bleach blonde before using. The formula is extremely easy to work with, smells great and leaves hair feeling super nourished and vibrant afterwards. Has been holding up great in the shower also. 10/10 recommend and will be ordering alot more from them. ... show more

  • Fun Colors and Smells Sweet
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
I have been using Artic Fox and Lunar Tides to dye my light brown/dark blonde and grey hair vivid purple for a few years now, simply apply all over dry hair, and leave in (I try to do 30 minutes at least, but sometimes longer.) To be honest, although the jar is pretty and it smells very very good, the container is a bit awkward I would rather squeeze product out into the bowl. I also found that the color just faded a bit faster than other brands I've used. I'm not the best with following the 'care' rules such as washing in cold water, and only washing once a week etc, so those things most definitely help. I'm sorry I don't have pics as it was a while ago and I couldn't even tell you which pics of myself are from that time period even if I did have them. But I do know it worked, the color was pretty, and I did love the smell a lot. If you are looking to try some fun colors but don't want to spend salon prices, it's a fun brand to try. Keep in mind that if you do not have pre lightened hair, the color payout will be less vivid the darker your hair is. I could be wrong, but it seems to me leaving it on a bit longer can help, and it IS a conditioning treatment that helps hair feel soft. Why not life is short, hair is really our greatest accesssory. Have some fun. ... show more

  • Good quality
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
Easy to use. Has a slightly oily texture that seems to moisturize the hair. It’s pretty thick so doesn’t run all over the place. Photos show effect on light brown hair after 1 hr of sitting.

  • Fuchsia Pony
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
The color I ordered, Pony, turned out to be an unexpectedly bright purple, almost fuchsia, really. In fact, it's such a bright color that it may take a little getting used to. Right now, I kind of look like either Draculaura from Monster High or a Disney villain, but hey, I can live with that :) In other spots online, I've seen reviews about this dye that describe poor saturation and/or the dye washing out completely, and I'm not sure why this wasn't my experience. I didn't do anything different or special -- I pre-bleached my hair to a light yellow (I didn't want to process any further than that), washed with a cheap shampoo (no conditioner), then let it rest for a day before applying the dye. I let the Unicorn Hair set for 2.5 hours under layers of tin foil, a shower cap, and a plastic bag. (Yeah, really, a plastic bag... It's not a cute look, but it does keep the dye nice and moist!) Did the bad experiences of other reviewers come about because of an issue with a few bad batches? I can't really say, but I hope that Lime Crime will make sure to nail down the cause of this issue because I intend to keep experimenting with colors in this line. This dye smells wonderful, conditions the hair, and doesn't stain my towels or pillows. Crazy! 4/30/17: The picture attached was taken on freshly dyed hair. I'll update again after I've washed a few times so that we can see how well this dye fades. 5/13/17: So far, so good! Just a bit of background on my routine... I wash my hair every other day with a sulfate-free co-wash (Eden Bodyworks) using warm or lukewarm water. I probably should be using cold water, but I just never developed the nerves for it! This pic was taken after at least a dozen shampoos (I wasn't counting), on the way home from a Disney vacation in which I spent 12 hours every day in the bright sunlight. While there has been a small change to the color, I've found the fading is minimal. ... show more

  • A Promise Kept
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
LimeCrime Unicorn Hair dye promises “ALWAYS VIBRANT, NEVER DULL. This semi-permanent hair dye washes out gracefully from poppin’ to pastel, and always stays looking fierce. With no toner or developer needed, your hair will stay healthy and bright!” and it is quite true, if applied and taken care of properly. I have used a bunch of different hair dyes and have dyed my hair at least 4 different colors and throughout some trial and error I have found that LimeCrime works the best. When I first dyed my hair I went to a salon, I got it bleached and dyed it blue, two days later the dye washed out and my hair looked dingy, considering I spent over $100 on that I was very unhappy. Since then I decided that I would color my own my hair, I bought manic panic and I had to redeye my hair every 3rd wash. I was unhappy with that as well and decided it was time to search for a new dye for my hair. While searching and searching I came across LimeCrime Unicorn Hair, it sounded good and the bottles looked decently sized, so I decided to give it a try. The first color I bought was pony purple, it was supposed to be a bright violet color, it looked pretty on the model’s hair, so I ordered it and gave it a go. When it came I was really impressed, one bottle of LimeCrime Unicorn Hair is like two bottles of manic panic. When I opened the bottle I was impressed by how good it smelled, it had a really sweet aroma to it and I thought “oh the dye just smells good it’s probably to cover the smell of chemicals”, no I was wrong, the dye has almost no actual chemicals in it, there is nothing in the dye that could possibly harm your hair. So, the first time I applied the pony color to my hair I didn’t apply it correctly, what you have to do is rub it into your hair, the dye not only colors your hair but it also works as a kind of deep conditioner. When applying put a little on the tip of your dying brush, depending on how long your hair is and how thick it is this will vary, and apply it to your hair, after applying it with the brush make sure you rub it into to every strand you just applied it to. This will help the color take better to your hair and it will also make the dye work as a kind of deep conditioner. After using this dye 3-5 times, I can say that the color really does come out vibrant and it stays in for a long time, just wash your hair with luke warm or cold water, not hot, it makes the dye was out much faster. All in all LimeCrime really does come through on their promise for vibrant hair that lasts long and fades well, some reviews have been negative, but I disagree, much like Brianna Martinez says, “I was nervous after I ordered after reading some of the other reviews, but I love this product.” This product is quality and I highly recommend buying it if you want bright, vibrant, and soft hair. ... show more

  • Long Lasting... in Platinum Hair!
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
I'm naturally a honey blonde, I bleached my hair using Schwarzkopf Keratin Platinum Bleach, toned the crap out of my hair in two different treatments to really get to that silvery platinum, left Pony in for 4 hours with a grocery bag over my head to maintain moisture. Pic where I'm looking regular is the day after my fresh color has been dried and styled by me. Second pic is after the first wash, still looking bright as HECK, doing its thing! This is literally my new favorite dye, it's a perfect shade of pinky-purple. I've always had hard times with purples staying more than 1-5 washes in my hair but this seems to really be holding up. I also had zero rinse out during my first wash. It's only been 2 weeks of wear so while it's still bright, not sure what it'll look like at a month out, but it took 1/2 a jar to do my hair this time, I still have 1/2 left and bought a backup jar just in case. ... show more

  • I'd love to SUE THEM!
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
If I could give it no stars at all, I would. Unfortunately, I didn't take any pictures cause I was horrified and wanting to chop my hair off. I had platinum blonde hair and wanted this grey-ish dye from LimeCrime. I was expecting almost black and with more washes, eventually would turn into some sort of dark grey or whatever. Y'all know what I got instead of even anything remotely to black?? I GOT GREEN. Not even a pretty green. A basic freaking green. I hated it. I had to go back to my hairdresser and she managed to fix it. But now my hair is extra damaged because of the fix I had to get. I even bought 2 cause I trusted it. Now I have an extra one just sitting there as a reminder to not do this again. Stick to your hairdresser. Don't trust these brands. I'd love to get my money back on top of what I had to pay my lady to fix my hair. If only, seriously. Before someone blames me for not knowing color and whatever; the box has pictures telling you what your hair should look like if you have platinum blonde and then black hair. The instructions are simple. Their formula is flawed. False advertisement. I wish I had money to sue this brand. ... show more

  • My new fav stuff
Color: Pony (Violet Purple)
Absolutely amazing hair dye!! I don’t make reviews usually, but in this case I felt that I should. My natural hair is dark brown, but I had highlights made a couple months ago in a salon, then I just keep the color by myself at home. I have been using exotic colors for years and this is way better than anything I’ve tried before. Doesn’t damage the hair, smell good, doesn’t stain the skin that much, have a great durability, beautiful color, shiny! I’m in love!! Definitely I will keep using this brand even when decide for another color. First pic first day, second pic 4 weeks after. Color: pony ... show more
