Very basic charger. Slow charging. Good if you don’t use the car much. Functionally it works fine. Compatible with Tesla cars. Solid feeling and no issues at all. Great price. Easy to use. Durable and nice feeling. Just charge slow.

This charger works as advertised. I ordered it as a backup to keep in the trunk for my Model Y so I could charge away from home in a pinch without a super charger. When testing it, it works as well as my Tesla branded charger as far as charging the car at the same rate. I'm using it on a 15-amp circuit, so I charge at 12-amps and it charges at the same rate as the tesla charger without any problems. With that said, the quality doesn't feel nearly as good as the Tesla charger. The whole thing is about half the weight, and the wire is so light, it must be aluminum and not copper. This doesn't seem to be a problem functionally, but it just doesn't feel great to use. The other problem with this charger is that the display is in Chinese and it doesn't come with a user manual so it there is a way to toggle languages, I haven't figured it out. The weight could be an upside however if you plan to keep the charger in the car all the time since less weight in an EV is always better than more but for infrequent use, it may not be the best value charger available.

At first glance, it’s seems that the product quality is pretty decent. It was easy to use as you just plug it in like normal. It’s half the price of an Apple charger. The screen switches between Chinese and English, there's a capacitive touch button to adjust the current but you can only go up to 8A with standard US outlets. The charging speeds are really slow. To give you an idea it was 10% of charge on my model X for 10 hours of charge. It’s that’s slow. We have a charging station at home and I wanted a portable one for an emergency, but truly I’m not sure how effective this is if I ever need it for a real emergency.

I picked up the RUTU Level 1/2 EV Charger as a backup option for my Tesla Model Y, and while it does the job, I found it to be just average overall which is why I can only give it three stars. The Level 2 charging works as expected on a 240V outlet, giving me a decent bump in range each hour, but the Level 1 side was disappointing because it only charges at 8A instead of the 12A it claims to support, which makes it slower than I’d hoped for when using a standard household outlet. I like that the charger has adjustable amperage and safety protections built in, and the 16.5-foot cord length is practical for my garage setup (it's not too short as others mentioned, I can easily reach my car from an outside porch or garage outlet), but there are a few details that make it feel mid-tier rather than polished. There’s no carry bag included, which makes storing and transporting it a bit inconvenient since I like keeping my trunk organized, and the display occasionally switches between English and Chinese on its own which feels like a quality control issue. On the plus side, it does shut off automatically when the car is full and the build feels reasonably sturdy, so it’s not a bad option if you need something functional in a pinch. That said, after using it for a couple of weeks, I think there are better choices available in the same price range that offer smoother features and more consistent performance, 3 Stars.

I keep this in the trunk of my Model Y as my “anywhere” charger. On a normal wall outlet it charges at Level 1, slow but fine if I’m parked overnight at my parents. Using the NEMA 6-20 at a friend’s garage gives me a steady 16A and it’s much more useful. The control box lets you dial the amps which is handy when I’m sharing a circuit. Cable length is 16.5 feet, just enough to reach my front port without funky loops. I use the standard Tesla adapter and it clicks in solid. The display is basic but shows volts, amps, and kWh so I know what’s going on. It hasn’t overheated and the plugs are still snug after a month of use. I ran it in light rain one evening and the housings shed water nicely. The carry pouch is a little thin, I tossed it in a sturdier bag. Not the fastest charger in the world, obviously, but very flexible. For travel or as a backup at home, it earns its keep. Does the job well.
