  • UPDATED - Redesigned Rower!
UPDATE - 3/11/2021: After posting my original review below, I was contacted by customer service, who shared my concern regarding the leak. To my surprise, I was told that based upon my feedback they will redesign the rower by end of February and send me the new one free of charge! I was skeptical, but true to their word, I received the new rower. The leak is now fixed! I can see that there is now a newly designed silicone gasket around the center spindle and bolts. I filled up the tank to the calibration level, and lifted it up into the storage position. Sure enough, it no longer leaks! They also addressed my other observations. The documentation has been improved. It is more helpful and better written. Gone is the 1-page note in the original packaging that suggested draining the water before storage. Obviously, with the leak fixed, it is no longer necessary. The "mystery blue powder" is now labeled as algaecide, with directions to use 1 gram every 3 months. ("1 gram" is approximately 1/4 teaspoon of the powder.) It doesn't say what to do with it, but I think it's obvious you add it into the water in the tank. The customer service of this company has been incredible. Clearly, they take customer satisfaction seriously! Very responsive communication, and they followed through to ensure my complete satisfaction. I highly recommend this product and the company that stands behind it. --------------------------- ORIGINAL REVIEW: Be careful--the water calibration level is not the safe level for vertical storage! I filled it to the line, and stood it up, I DUMPED A COUPLE OF GALLONS OF WATER ONTO THE FLOOR! You see, the tub is not water/airtight--there is an open hole in the center where the main shaft enters the tub. It's not obvious--the hole is larger than the shaft, so it's not sealed. You would think they would have put a sealed watertight bearing around the shaft. As a result, if the water level is too high, it will spill out of that hole when you stand it up! The instructions mention none of this. I can forgive the atrocious English everywhere in the manual--and assembly is simple enough (seven bolts with an allen wrench) that you can forgive not having any assembly directions, also. BUT, if you want to avoid having a small water disaster in your room, I suggest you fill it while the unit is upright. The fill hole is about level with the open center hole, so you will likely not have an accident if you stop below the level of the fill hole. And since there is an open hole in the center, be very careful about not sloshing the water in the tank when you are moving it or standing it upright. There is a single sheet that "recommended" that you drain the tank "at first" before "collection", which I think in English means, they suggest you drain the water before storing it upright. It sort of defeats the purpose, unless you will not use it again any time soon, and it becomes a clothes hanger like your other exercise equipment. The hand pump is not a siphon pump or a really bad one, so be prepared to spend 10 minutes assembling the rower, and 20 minutes pumping water into it. If you have a better pump or even a piece of hose to siphon the "old fashion way", you're already ahead of the game. They also include some blue powder in a small bag, and a small container of what I think is some kind of lube. Again, no documentation as to what they are or what to do with them. I think the blue powder might be some kind of surfactant or anti-microbial agent for the water, but I'm not risking it. And I have no idea what to do with the other one. There is no variable resistance adjustment other than adding/removing water, so this unit is great for leisurely rowing, not really that much of a workout for an adult. I feel the resistance is low, even with faster strokes. My 12 year old daughter even commented that it doesn't feel like much of a workout. And since this is the same design sold by many sellers here, I assume they are all the same. ... show more

  • Not bad, not great
Got the machine a few days ago. Very easy to assemble, eight screws for side runners and that’s it. Filling it up with water is annoying but I suppose that’s normal with any water rower. The instructions say to use distilled water.. good thing I have a source of that at home, the whole thing took like 8 gallons of water, would have been very annoying otherwise. The machine is very quiet. Water noises, but no actual creaks or loud mechanism noises. It’s quite good. I’m 6’1” and 250lb. Some fat, some muscle. Not too out of shape. With this machine filled to max level, I absolutely get a good workout from it. Not sure what the other reviewer here that mentioned it being too easy was on about, this thing works well. Now to the drawbacks and the reasons for three stars: 1- the only way to change resistance on this thing is to change the water level. This wouldn’t be too bad if there was an easy way to open the water tank. Once you fill it up and put in the plug, that plug is in there good. Not “never coming out again” good, but definitely a “I’m not looking forward to ever taking it out again” kind of good. This is reassuring for leak prevention, but not so much for any kind of water level management. Leaving the plug off isn’t an option, once the machine is in use, there would be a shower coming at you instantly. 2- the foot straps are very smooth and really hard to keep fastened. They get loose very easily. Apparently this isn’t the worst possible thing according to pro rowers but I’m not a pro. I need me some straps so I don’t go shooting off into the distance. Definitely annoying but also really easy and cheap to replace with better straps, so… not the worst? Still not great. 3- and this is the worst by far. The attached screen is just absolute garbage. It tracks distance, calories, time and something else… but all on separate screens and with no real.. semblance of reality to any number to it. The only thing that it works well for is tracking the time you’ve been working out. And it pauses when you stop, so that’s good. Everything else about it is just absolute garbage. I did a 10 minute workout and it told me I’ve burned over a thousand calories. All the numbers on the screen do is just go up some amount as you go. There are no settings to put in any information either. Also, and this is the MOST annoying thing about the included screen. It does not track your strokes per minute OR watts. There is quite literally no way to judge the intensity of your workout using it. Overall. I’m not too upset with this thing. It’s half the price of machines that wouldn’t have these issues. It’s sturdy and quiet. It provides a good workout and all the issues with it aren’t *that* big of a deal. By far the worst is that there is no stroke per minute counter. I don’t know if I’d recommend it to anyone that isn’t going to pair it up with a secondary device to keep a tab on the workouts or something though. ... show more

  • Great product
Color: blue
Excellent product, but bolts were not exactly right and were too large for attaching long boards. Other than that it is terrific. The water resistance is a great add and makes it very unique.
