These are my impressions after 1 month (17 days of rowing). Positive: Most important. Very good workout. I am 6 feet tall (34-in. inseam). The length of the machine is excellent for full rowing motion. The resistance is very good. Plus, with the effect on resistance from the rate of strokes (as during interval training), it is easy to work out from moderate to very high intensity. The machine is stable while rowing and seems solid and well-designed. It is very easy to lift into upright position when not in use, and it takes up little space when upright. Very good price. Very good value–although value really depends on whether I use it a lot–so the more I use it the better value it will be. Negative The seat is hard, but if I readjust my position during exercise I can row for 45-50 minutes without being too uncomfortable. Other comments (some of which are based on the reviews I read while deciding which rower to purchase). I found the assembly frustrating a couple of times, and I was definitely slower than many reviewers in getting it finished. The printed instructions are poor–with small print and really small diagrams, which made seeing the details very difficult. The video was better, but the machine in the video was different from mine. But it ended up being close enough. Of course, I only had to put it together one time, so the assembly aggravation was not a big deal.

Setup is difficult if you just try to follow the book instructions, but easy if you follow the video (on 1/2 speed). The whole thing took me about 40 minutes. I did my first rowing session this morning. This machine is quiet and smooth. I'm not an experience rower, so I can't speak to how difficult the resistance should be, but as a 6 foot male, it was enough for a solid workout, and for less than $180, it's tough to beat the value.

Disappointed at first. Well packaged, received on time. Assembly is not that challenging. When I put it next to my other equipment, it looked like it was for a 12 year old. The seat was practically on the floor. At 74 years old, slightly overweight, I had difficulties getting on & off. Some US Navy savvy, put it up on cement blocks & it's a good height to use. Never could connect the App they recommend but plenty of rowing machine videos on You Tube. Overall it's a good exercise machine but not recommended for the older overweight folks. Find it hard to believe that the giant of a man they use in their promo is real. lol..

This is a basic rowing machine. The rowing machine is smooth and offers a good range of resistance to provide a good workout regardless of your level of fitness. The magnetic resistance is quiet and smooth. The seat is padded well and easily supports my weight and moves without difficulty. (I’m a big boy.) The display is as basic as it gets. It aid a little hard to read because it is not backlit and small. I don’t have any problems with that because the value for the price went into the quality of the actual operation instead of the electronics. Truthfully I use a heart rate monitor and link it to my tablet with my exercise tracking app. Anyone using a fitness or smart watch should still be able to track their activity well enough to get a good workout. If you track stats about rowing (strokes, meters rowed, tempo, etc.) then this will give you those numbers but it will be hard to read during the workout. If you’re that serious about rowing then you probably already know you want a more advanced machine. If you are just trying to get a good workout then this machine will give that to you. I am former military, a former athlete, and long ago I was a certified personal trainer. Today, more than 20 years later, I am older, out of shape, trying to overcome health issues and physical injuries. For me I just need muscle strengthening, cardiovascular fitness training, and fat loss. This machine is as basic as it gets, but that’s affordable. I don’t need a Concept 2, I need something that stands up in the corner and pulls out. I need something that provides full range of motion and resistance without undue stress on my damaged and worn out joints. This machine fits that description perfectly. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who is just starting rowing and doesn’t want to invest thousands into a club level piece of equipment, or someone who is trying to get whole body workouts that bikes just don’t offer but are in it for the workout, not specifically for rowing as a sport.

Portable and easy to build. This rowing machine comes with clear paper instructions and a QR code for a helpful setup video. It’s lightweight and great for small spaces. The seat is on the smaller side; I’m 5 ft and it fits me fine, but it’s better suited for smaller individuals. Great purchase, it helps be burn calories easy!!
