  • Likely the best linear switches for gaming
Color: Optical Silver
I wanted to avoid linear switches initially. I believed the internet people who said they were bad for typing, and I only had experience with tactile switches. Well, I'll try to keep this short and jump into useful information: These silver switches actuate very fast. In gaming, the difference is truly noticeable. I daresay my performance went up, since I have kinda slow fingers after starting to play "left-handed". By now, in games I'm performing significantly better than I ever did playing as a right handed on other standard and mechanical keyboards. I don't think you gain anything by buying an Apex Pro, since actuation any higher than 1mm will be more of an inconvenience due to accidental presses, and the performance benefit will be negligible. The springs are light for my taste, even on the silver switches. As I said, I'm not used to playing with this hand so I found myself pressing on accident. If you do as well, just replace the springs with heavier ones. I recommend somewhere around 68g. I'm using "Thic Thock" 67.5 linear springs, but any of similar weight will do. These switches can be modded. You can use any top, stem, spring, or leaf (but leaves come with a leg-the pin, so you gotta cut it off). Linear optical switches don't come with a leaf, so you'll need leaves if you wanna use tactile or clicky stems here. They come with other bases for tactile mechanical switches. You can also lube these switches, but you can find guides for that on YouTube. I recommend lubing but it but it's a lot of work that will take hours of your time, so it's not for everyone. I highly recommend using the tops that comes with these gateron optical switches, since they have a magnifying glass-like area to enhance the keyboard's rgb. You can essentially use any other mechanical switch in here, as long as you keep the gateron optical switch's base. You can buy a few different parts by themselves from Gazzew, the creator of the Boba switches for quite cheap. You can find him on Reddit under a different name. But these silver switches by themselves are pretty good, and even for typing they aren't bad at all. I recommend them. EDIT: Four months later after my initial review, I'm still using these optical silver switches lubed, filmed, and with the 67.5g Thic Thock springs. While modding them is not for everyone, I at least recommend heavier springs paired with the silver switches as it makes it less likely to perform accidental presses. Using other keyboards, it's baffling how slow it can be to game with switches that activate at the bottom of the press. As I have these switches set up right now, it feels like a precision instrument. The heavier springs allow you to rest your fingertips on the keycaps without consequence, but as soon as you decide to apply force, the click registers. I sincerely recommend this combination of silver optical switches with a heavier spring to anyone who plays often on keyboard, regardless of what you play. It is not at all an issue for typing, contrary to what most people say. ... show more

  • Best “switch” I’ve made
Color: Optical Silver
These are my second switches that I’ve purchased and worked on. Originally I had the gateron browns but the tactility wasn’t for me. These however are perfect. If you’ve had any experience with the razer red optical switches. They feel like those in terms of actuation but you can rest your fingers on the keys with out them being accidentally pressed. I did lube these and without the lube they are a bit scratchy. I don’t have enough experience to speak about quality of the material but they look and feel great. ... show more

  • Sounds and feels great!
Color: Optical Silver
The media could not be loaded. Love them, ordered these switches to replace my gateron browns, from the difference these feel a lot lighter and a nice amount of loud. Amazing packaging, some lube will probably make them sound better.

  • Good for gaming
Color: Optical Yellow
They are pretty good for gaming, I bought yellow switches and they are very good, I like them in game and I do recommend them for gaming however they are very easy to activate and therefore I think the silvers would be more useful for gaming and typing combo, I like the yellow switches though, lubed them up and they are ready to go! ... show more
