Since the set comes with both metric and standard sizes, getting a nice tight fit on a rounded bolt was easy to do. I was fairly rough with the sockets that I used, using a hammer to tap an extractor onto a stripped bolt, and then an impact driver on it, worked to remove a rounded (and very tight) bolt. The sockets after being rough with them did not appear to be damaged and can certainly be used again. If you are in a pinch and have a rounded bolt or nut you need to get off, seems like a good solution to try for the price.

I used this to remove a stripped oil pan plug. After several failed attempts with various wrenches, sockets, and even vice grips, I gave this set a try and it did the trick. Good solid tools.

I've mostly had good luck with removing plugs for oil changes, but finally experienced the dreaded rounded head on a 14 mm plug in a Subaru. With the crush washer, Subaru plugs can take considerable force to break free, even with tightening to the rated torque. Trying harder to remove it of course just made things worse. I am allergic to car repair shops, so I bought this remove set to do it myself. It's good to have the multiple sizes so you can find the one that goes on snug and bites firmly into the remaining head. I lightly tapped it with a hammer to make sure it cut into the head, and then I could torque the plug out without any issues. I switched to Dorman 17 mm plugs and haven't had any problems since, but I'll have this set ready for the next time I round a bolt head.
