  • Fabulous Tool Set
Style: SAE Size: 45 Piece
Great product and fit and finish are super. They are high quality tools and are well worth the money.

  • Great hand tools.
Style: SAE and Metric Size: 76 Piece
Very pleased with all the Neiko tools I’ve purchased. This tap and die set is no exception.

  • It worked fine
Style: SAE and Metric Size: 76 Piece
Item description told that Neiko tools could be made either in China or Taiwan. I hoped that I would get a Taiwan one but I got a Chinese one. The set looks visually OK. Its plastic case does not hold all pieces perfectly and a few of small dies keep falling out, when the case cover is opened, but I can live with this. So far, I have used only 6-32 tap to cut thread for UNC №6 screw and the tool worked as expected. Initially, I was thinking about returning this set and buying a larger one that was on sale and had 131 pieces, but then decided to keep it. To sum up, this is not the best set of this kind, but it has OK price / value ratio and it covers comepleatly all my armature needs at the moment . ... show more

  • Very handy set to have laying around
Style: SAE Size: 40 Piece
The product was inexpensive but I thought I would give it a try based on the reviews. There was only one job a tap was needed for so if the kit worked on that job I would be happy. The tap in question did work fine on the required job. Then since the kit was setting there I began to use it one every old rusty hole in the car I am working on. I felt a real sense of accomplishment reaming out all those old rusty holes that I would have just forced a bolt into with a 1/2 inch ratchet before. I was really impressed to discover there was a vertical style tool for the taps because at first all I saw was the horizontal style. That tool does not work in tight spaces so a crescent wrench was being used on those taps until I spotted the little baby vertical tool. I would recommend this kit without reservation for the price. ... show more

  • It is an OK product at a very good price! Not the best out there but also one of the least expensive
I wrote a similar review on the Neiko calipers very recently about reasonable expectations when you are buying a very inexpensive item but here we go... Is this the best set of taps money can buy? No. Is this one of the best value in taps money can buy? Yes. Bottom line is if you are are working on parts for the International Space Station I would recommend a much higher quality set that costs more than 5 times the amount this set costs. If you are looking for a very good price on a decent quality set of taps and dies then this is the best set I have come across. Even with this shortcoming of this set I still gave it an honest and fair 5 stars because I think it is a great value for the price I have paid. The taps and dies do not stay as sharp, and the case is not as nice as a set that costs a lot more money and has a name brand attached to it but for 99% of people that are looking at this who will use something out of this set maybe 3 times a year let me tell you that this is all you need. I am not sure why there are some people out there that look for the cheapest and most complete item they can find and then they hold it to unrealistic standards. A good example is I know if I go to Harbor Freight I will walk out with some really cheaply priced stuff, I also know that if I go to Harbor Freight I will walk out with some really cheaply made stuff. ;) ... show more

  • Lifesaver
This set has saved me in ways I've never expected. For example, it's surprising how many (overseas) products you get nowadays where threads are bad in right from the factory. It seems to be a relatively new phenomena, but this kit has saved me from a bunch of return headaches. I ordered a new bed frame that had mangled up threads, this kit fixed it perfectly. Same thing happened with a shower diverter I ordered - cut new threads without any issues. The latest was a shelf kit where one of the holes wasn't cut properly, again this kit took care of it no problem. While I wish the storage case was better quality, the tools themselves are decent for the money. It's a great addition to anyone's tool arsenal. ... show more

  • Not great but useable.
Style: SAE Size: 40 Piece
The set seems better than most at this price point. I have ordered and sent back other sets that did not meet expectations to the point that they were completely unusable due to horrific quality and poor manufacturing. For the most part this set seems acceptable with a few exceptions. About 4 of the dies had swagging or remaining chunks of metal on the threads that will lead to very poor performance and one was just outright missing the threads on one section. Also several of the taps had heavy flashing or were just plain unfinished so that the cutting thread teeth were rendered useless. I was able to use a jewelers saw and riffler files to clean them up. The oddest defect I have ever seen was also here as well. The steel pin tumbling media used to do a first round clean up had been plated to quite a few of the dies. The pins were stuck tight with thin layer of electroplated titanium nitride. With a bit of effort and force the pins were removed but it was work that should not have to be done in the first place if quality control had been doing their job, if this company even has a QC department. So not perfect by any means but then again they dont cost like an Irwin or Bosch set either so its a compromise. In this case I dont think I would order them again but they are useable enough at this price point that I will keep them. I wish there was an option available for a mid range priced set with at least mid range quality. As it stands you pay a cheap price and play tool roulette hoping for something you dont send back immediately, or you pay a fortune for a good quality tap and die set but feel like its getting the house in a nasty expensive divorce where no one is really happy. ... show more

  • Tools are great but the case is suspect. Update 1
I needed to use the set right after I received it. As I pulled the case out of the shipping sleeve all 76 pieces decided to fall out of the case because my case has no clasp to secure the case from opening. I’ve already started using the tools so now I’m stuck with the set. I received a new set with a fully functioning case. The set works great so I updated my review. ... show more
