I can't tell you how many times I could've used a kit like this in the past. It's the kind of thing you don't think about until you have a need for it but then it saves you so much time & hassle. I did feel like the drill bits were a little on the duller side & I struggled to drill into a screw. The extractor worked as planned though! The sizes of the bits/extractors are great. This is the type of set best for a homeowner who would need it on occasion for household projects or when working on a car. It's got a versatile array of pieces & is a fairly sturdy & reliable kit. This set is not designed for commercial use. That being said, it's still a nice set for the price ($85.99 at the time of this review). ... show more

Problem #1: Office chair arm came off, both M8 - 60mm hex pan screws head broke off. See pictures. In a few minutes extracted using kits drill bit & extraction bit. Replaced with M8-1.25 60mm Philips screw stainless steel . Exceeded expectations. Problem #2: Neighbor was removing lawn mower engine from mower deck, and some what rounded bolt head. This is one of those tool kits that is worth its weight in gold when you need it. This is a full featured kit to extract broken or stripped out bolts. It contains a full array of specialty tools that make the process easier. These include: - 16 Left-Hand Cobalt Drill Bits - 13 Spline Screw Extractors - 13 Nut Remover sockets - 6 Easy-Out Spiral Extractor bits Each of these specialty tools has a specific function, selecting the proper tool is dependent on the type of fastener you are dealing with and what sort of shape it is in. I've found the Left-Hand Cobalt twist drills can often free up a stuck bolt without the need of going to the next step in the process. Regular (right-hand) drill bits often make matters worse when dealing with stuck bolts, as, due to the direction they rotate, they tighten the bolt as you drill. These left-hand bits run backwards, so as you are drilling you are also applying a lot of force in the proper direction, that can often free up the stuck fastener. If the drill bits don't work, the next step is to use the appropriate sized Spline Screw Extractor in the hole you've just drilled. These bits dig into the fastener as they are twisted and can often loosen a stuck fastener. The longer "easy-out" style spiral bits are for use in situations where you need a longer extractor. If you are dealing with bolts with stripped out or rounded heads you can often avoid having to drill the bolt by using one of the socket extractors, which work similar to the easy-outs, as they dig into the sides of the bolt head as they are twisted. I found all the components to be high quality and nicely labeled. The plastic form-fitting case keeps everything organized, which makes it quick and easy to find the proper extractor for the task. This kit covers a wide range of common fastener sizes, which makes it very handy to have on hand. Removing stubborn frozen fasteners is never an enjoyable task, this kit, if used properly, makes it considerably easier with a much higher success rate. Bottom line: This is a high quality, full featured, extractor kit that covers a wide range of fasteners (from 5/64" to 1/2"). It is a huge timesaver when you need it.
