Get yourself some proper WOMEN'S hair dyes. They infuse the hair with MUCH more natural color, highlight/lowlights, shine, and last longer, too. No shoe polish, matte look at all. My hubs has naturally blackish-brown hair, but at 65, he's getting some silver strands and touch of silver sideburns. We put this color on using the squeeze-bottle that comes with the kit to apply the color in strips all throughout his hair. I had gloves on to work the color in all over his head and around the temples and sideburns. VOILA! He looks super! The dark ash brown gives his bit of silver a dark but not shoe polish BLACK uniformity. I love this product. I do not find this brand in Light Natural Brown in retail stores for some reason.I can find a light golden brown color, but I do not like the brassy look of that one after a few washes. I love this color as it is a consistently flattering color throughout washes. It does fade somewhat and only lasts until my roots grow out of course, which is usually 3-4 weeks. I also like the thicker consistency compared to most liquid hair coloring products as they tend to easily splatter around on my bathroom surfaces whereas this does not happen quite as much with this Buttercream. ... show more

I've used this in the past but could no longer find it. But thanks to Amazon, I found it again. I like this because it's easy to use and its easier on your hair, because of the butters and it also seems to cover better than some others I have used.

I love this hair color. I found it searching for ammonia free hair color as the others were making my hair feel more brittle and its thin already. The color is exactly what I wanted to match more to my natural color but to cover the grays. The smell is nice and my hair feels great after using it. The little comb/brush combo took that comes with it helps get the color where you need it to cover better. To top it off, the price is great also and less expensive than other boxed colors. Didn’t cover grays at all. Doesn’t look like I colored my hair at all expect a bit lighter. My grays are still there and left it on for 40 mins. I’ll stick to the original color silk. Also instructions not in English and looks like 2 conditioning packs but I don’t know because no instructions in English. Which is ok because I grew up with 2 hairdressers but I’d like to know the 2 packets are for. ... show more

I don’t like dying my hair with box dye but I was desperate because I been getting grey hair and none of the salons are open. But I do have to say this box dye left my hair feeling smooth and felt healthier than before. The smell wasn’t bad at all. I recommended it to my sister and now she’s getting one.
