  • Power Up
Size: 48 Amp
Great, small unit. App is easy to use. Only thing is, it's pretty expensive. Settled on this one because of the size, amperage, Wi-Fi and bluetooth connectivity, and it's hard-wired. With the 48Amp version it is supposed to have the software that allows the power company to turn down the unit during periods of high power demand. Need to do some research on this feature so I can get a discount with the power company. For future-proof, this unit also can be linked to a second unit if I ever need to get another one to charge two cars over night, but that won't be needed until way way in the future or until electric car prices drop even more. Only issue right now is the app appears to have an occasional connection issue, which started after one of the app updates, so hopefully future updates fix that. ... show more

  • Very simple and clean, snappy responsiveness. Future ready.
Size: 48 Amp
We had a professional install this in our home that was built in the 70's. Install was not cheap for everything that had to be done to deliver the correct power and balance the loads on our home, however the cost savings we are seeing using electric vs gas is worth it and in 2 years the savings will have paid for the install and the Wallbox. After the box was powered up it took about 5 minutes before I could connect to wifi. I was worried it might be the brick blocking the signal but I think it just took some time to fully boot and do the other things it needed to do. The connection is fast and the app is simple and smooth to use. Adjusting the power from the app is fast and accurate as demonstrated by the cars display for what it is receiving. At 48 amps it was delivering 11.2kw which the car reported as 34 miles per hour as expected. Cranking it down to 20 amps for a slower charge was exactly as expected delivering 4.6kw and the car reporting 14 miles per hour. 40 amps was reported as adding 28 miles per hour if charge. We chose the wallbox for their feature of being able to add multiple Wallboxes to one circuit and then being able to intelligently balance and share the loads between them to charge multiple cars. We haven't tested this as we only have one EV at the moment so don't need another charger yet but I already see adding another one because we are very pleased so far. The only bummer to me is I can't adjust the brightness of the status lights at night and they are way too bright so we had to turn them completely off (which was easy to do in the app). Have an electrician install these things! Seriously, they are going to be a major part of your home for a very, very, long time. The 48 amp unit needs a 60 amp breaker, you need the correct gauge wires so you don't destroy your house. The 40a wallbox needs a 50 amp breaker. This was the first Wallbox our electrician installed and he said it was pretty easy except the direct feed line through the back was a little cramped with the thickness of the wires. ... show more

  • Good unit
Size: 48 Amp
I liked the Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48 amp But the unit would not charge my car in one session, tech support was very responsive and tried to work through issues.

  • Works perfectly so far
Size: 48 Amp
TL/DR: very happy so far. Install was challenging due to circumstances beyond the charger’s scope. Product arrived quickly and undamaged, and upon installation works perfectly. If anything could be improved, it’s the clasp mechanism that holds the J1772 connector in the holster. It doesn’t seem to grab very well and takes a few tries to get it to hold. I wired the unit up myself, but I’m an electrical engineer and comfortable with this kind of project. I definitely recommend hiring an electrician to most users. I purchased the 48A version, since EVs are getting bigger and bigger ranges these days. We just purchased an EV with 300 mile range and I wanted to be able to charge at our vacation rental near Asheville NC. Since the driveway is about 40 ft from the house and there is no garage, I installed the charger on a structure made from treated 4x4 posts and plywood. Ran #6/3 UF-B cable through 1.5” PVC SCH 40 Conduit up to a 60A disconnect box. Realized after $500 of cable was purchased that you don’t need the neutral cable so I could have used #6/2 and marked the white wire with black tape and connected to the other phase. Sigh…that’s what I get for not reading the instructions in the manual before purchasing cable! Connected to a new 60A GFCI breaker (another $250) and it’s working like a champ. Charged my car to 80% the first night and then topped off to 100% before the 235 mile drive to Raleigh today. Got home with 18% left! I haven’t set up the app yet but will do that next month in hopes not to enable the charger unless someone is staying at the rental house. I will also build a shed roof for the charging station to make it more weather proof (all enclosures are NEMA4 rated so it’s fine out in the elements as-is). Update: after a month I installed the app and like the features such as statistics, remote locking, setting the charging current, etc. The only complaint I have is the WiFi receiver is weak. Wallbox customer support said the WiFi receiver works best if the WiFi router is in front of the charger. Well in my installation the router is about 50 ft behind. It works about half the time, but I can usually lock/unlock the charger remotely. I hope to set up the charger as a public charger sometime and if I can figure out that will update my review. ... show more
