Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The reviews reflect a generally positive experience with the weed eater's performance and power. Some customers highly praised its start-up ability and its power, as it can cut through grass, trees, weeds, and many more. However, it appears to be too heavy and long for certain people and issues with the string feed and harness adjustment have been reported. One user experienced a problem with the lower shaft rotating. If used following manual instructions, the machine works efficiently despite these negative points.

Pros

  • 👍 Easy to start.
  • 👌 Powerful motor.
  • 💪 Able to cut through dense vegetation.
  • 👏 Works great with all included blades.
  • 🙌 Good for clearing large areas and brush.

Cons

  • 👎 Heavy and overly long for some users.
  • 👿 Issues with the string feed.
  • ⚠ Difficulties with harness adjustment.
  • 🚧 Problem with the lower shaft rotating.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a powerful weed eater and are fine with handling a rather hefty and long piece of equipment, then this is the product for you. The issues reported seem to be relatively minor and can be fixed. Just ensure to read and understand the instructions properly before usage. However, if you are of smaller stature or prefer a lighter, more compact model, you might want to explore other options.

  • This is a Commercial Grade Weed/Wacker.
Size: 42.7cc
I recently purchased their 4-cycle gas powered mower and was pleasantly surprised by the high performance, easy of operation, quality of construction and price. I decided to buy their weed/wacker as I started to cut my own lawn between my twice monthly commercial lawn maintenance. I received the package fairly quickly just like the mover. When I opened the box, to my surprise and in my opinion, this is a commercial grade, heavy duty weed/wacker. I later noticed the description as EXTREME DUTY. They are not kidding. It is over-kill and built to take on much larger jobs than that of a 1/4 acre home in So. Florida. It is heavy and you must wear the full harness supplied. After I set it up, I went to the home improvement store to buy 2-cycle oil for the fuel. I noticed the inventory of weed eaters, everything from the battery operated models to the gas powered versions. They all looked like toys compared to the one I just bought. Yes, they were light weight but the difference in built was like comparing a gas powered scooter to a Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle. Surprisingly, the engine is made by Huasheng, which is a high quality motor I have used in the past for other applications. The only time consuming part of putting together the unit which was 99% already factory assembled was figuring out how to put on the harness and adjusting the handles on the unit to balance the machine so that it was neutral balance if you took your hands off of the unit while it was still hanging from the harness. Apart from that, it was easy to set up. To sum it up, I highly recommend this unit if you have a commercial lawn maintenance business or you have a 1-acre or larger home. For my application, it is more than I expected but at least I know the light application I will be giving this twice a month during the summer grow season in So. Florida should allow this unit to last me a life-time. This is not for women or men that lack muscle. The low price they charge fools you in to thinking you are receiving a light weight application model. I give this unit a 5-Star for price and quality. ... show more

  • PROYAMA sent a used unit as replacement. It started on very first try and is still starting easily!
Size: 42.7cc
Assembled easily, started easily first 3 times we used it . it ran fine. I could not get it to start after about 45 minutes of total run time. Motor would fire a little but not run -no matter how much we dried it out or how fresh the fuel was or how we manipulated the choke; it was getting fuel as mix vapor was seen coming out of exhaust . We checked: sparkplug, swapped spark plug with a known good plug - no joy isolated ignition from switch- no joy pulled it apart- verified flywheel key had not sheared, verified magneto airgap etc, piston and rings looked virgin . installed new coil today -same deal- no start- it would sound as if firing but wouldnt kick off and run. unit has spark but seems very weak Pulled carb apart with no issues apparent. all diaphragms flexy and clean. Inlet needle arm level with casting. high speed needle in good condition. Now in process of re-setting mixture screws. Unit has plenty of compression but will check with gage today. Piston and rings still cherry as seen thru the intake port. If i can figure out why the sumbitch wont start i will revise my rating but there is another reviewer had same exact problem but do not know what his resolution was. Epilogue: Proyama customer service (very polite and sincere) have offered to refund me money OR send me a refurbed/second hand unit. Yes , fool that I am , I accepted their offer of the second hand unit. I cant resist...this damn thing should run..it DID run fine the first tank of gas! I am going to fix it or die trying. Maybe I end up with two piles of junk and a bruised ego or maybe I end up with at least one serviceable unit plus a pile of spare parts. Meantime I am still looking for my little doggie. The grass has now grown so tall I cant even see the tip of her tail above the grass...I know she is out there somewhere...... I will bump to 5 stars if this second unit actually runs. I bump to 3 stars for now because these guys really seem to be genuinely trying to help me. Also now that I have had this unit broken down I can say the construction is good and does not see to be full of cheap shortcuts. Piston has two rings. Overall Machining is good /clean. I think it will give good service if I can get it to run. EPILOGUE: Proyama offered to send me at no charge a good refurbished unit. I accepted of course. It looks brand new but the locking knob for shaft extension is damaged , probably from shipping. But otherwise this unit has never been used! I gassed it up and it started right up with only a half of a pull. I have stopped and started it 10-12 times , all easy single pull starts. I took the carb off of this unit and put it on my original unit--same deal--firs but wont kick off and run. Now very puzzled. So I set the original carb up just like the replacement unit's carb and will re-install and try again. I also intend to pressure/vacuum check the crankcase to see if maybe the crank seals(s) failed. At first pass it still behaves as if not getting enough gas...... Also when I put the replacement unit's carb back on the replacement unit it again started and ran nicely! I am bumping to 5 stars as I think the unit is well made and PROYAMA'S CUSTOMER SERVICE IS EXCELLENT. I will update the review as I dig deeper into the original unit's issue. ... show more

  • Heavy, but powerful!
Size: 42.7cc
Here’s my honest review of this Proyama 42.7cc Extreme Duty line trimmer: Let’s start with the Cons: #1: The packaging wasn’t anything to write home about. The box was just held shut with the cardboard flaps, no tape and could have easily come open in shipment. The accessories and tools were scattered about inside the box and only a few pieces of cardboard for protection. Thankfully nothing was missing or damaged. #2: The instructions were very poorly written and not very clear as how to assemble the unit. The shoulder harness was very confusing to put on and adjust. Once I figured out how it went on, it took three tries to get it adjusted to my height. Also, there’s not enough padding on the harness to comfortably hold the trimmer. The strap on that wraps around your back and attaches to the plastic shroud that holds the trimmer digs into your side! #3: The handlebars was awkward to put on and adjust also. The clamp that holds them to the shaft had to be completely removed in order to slide it into position due to two pieces of rubber that holds it in place that doesn’t slide. That took another 3 tries! And after over an hour of adjustments, I was able to get it adjusted and balanced to my liking. #4: This thing is very heavy! I’m 6’ and 280lbs and feels heavy even for me. If not properly adjusted and balanced, it fatigue you very quickly! Now for the Pros: #1: After filling the tank with the proper fuel mix and primed it with about 6 pumps, it started right up after 3 pulls. After the engine was run and warmed up, it started on the first pull every time after it was shut off and the engine is surprisingly quiet also. The engine also seems to to have a good bit of power. And the fuel tank also holds a generous amount of fuel. #2: I have only used the string trimming attachment, and it worked as it should. The string advance system also worked good. My Conclusion: Weighing the Cons with the Pros, I’m satisfied with the unit. Only time will tell as to how well it will hold up with use. I would have given it another half star if it came with a better more padded and comfortable harness. And if it was easier to adjust. The ease of starting and power is its best feature. ... show more

  • Excellent Powerhead! The Best of the lesser known brands Excellent Powerhead! The Best of the lesser known brands
Size: 42.7cc
I was doubtful at first and didn't expect much out of a Chinesium brand but I works really good. Didn't like the bike handles so I converted it back over to a Straight shaft trimmer and I put Echo Parts on it. Is significantly meaner, bigger a lot more power output. I chose the 42 cubic centimeter displacement. Next to it I have my red n white Shindaiwa T302 (30ccs) trimmer for size comparison. (Note the photo I have a 2620 aluminum tube and driver on it for extra reach, no the Proyama really isn't that long out of the box although I wish it was. I machined the adjustments myself so they could couple) You can't beat 200 bucks for this amount of power. Echo wants six and seven hundred dollars for their brush cutter of the same engine displacement size. The Largest stihl that you can get, the FS561, is gonna run you anywhere between twelve and seventeen hundred dollars and this runs just as good! Proyama is practically a steal! The Engine is significantly QUIETER than all of my echo/shindaiwas. And Its EPA rated too. Do not be cheap and get one of those 100 dollar knock off trimmers, this is the best of the lesser known brands. ... show more

  • Lot's of power, worst manual in history, bad customer service, terrible product. Lot's of power, worst manual in history, bad customer service, terrible product.
Size: 42.7cc
Review update: After a few uses, the tube covering the shaft failed where the two pieces joined. It took over a month to get the problem fixed. First I emailed the company and did not hear back. Later they informed me that my email went into their junk folder. They offered to send me a used replacement part, but I held out for a new one. It worked with the new part, but vibrated a lot. The gasket on the shaft fitting wanted to come out (see photo) I have only used this trimmer about 30 times, and today the vibration suddenly got very bad , like something was out of balance. I looked down, and lubricating oil was coming out of the fitting where the two shafts join (see picture). The only opinion I can offer is that the poor customer service is exceeded only by the terrible quality of the product itself. The good: - Very powerful. I was able to cut through thickets of blackberries, stems up to an inch and a half in diameter, with no problems. I bumped a cedar fence picket by accident, and it cut right into it. - Comes with lots of accessories. - For me it started easily every time. Others have indicated it floods easily. I give the fuel pump two presses, pull it one time with the choke on, and then once with the choke off. It has always started on the second pull - The included fuel bottle makes it easy to mix the oil and gasoline in the proper ratio (fill the two compartments appropriately and then pour the whole thing into the fuel tank. The bad: - The manual makes ikea instructions look like a NASA manual. The depiction of how the handlebars go on was different in different pictures. It took me several tries to get the handlebars on correctly and figure out how to get the nut off the end of the shaft (there is a hole in the housing through which you can insert a small rod or phillips screwdriver and insert it also into a matching hole in the shaft to hold the shaft in place while you loosen the nut). I wasted an hour or so figuring out how to assemble it. Thank you youtube for saving me. - There is foam padding on the shaft above the handlebars. I braced the shaft against my hip or thigh during use, and the padding tore and fell off after an hour or so. - The blade guard can be a hinderance in brush. - It vibrates a lot, which is expected, but be prepared for residual muscle and finger numbness and shakiness after using it for a while. The bottom line: It works great, and for me has been worth the price and hassle. I have only used it with the chainsaw tooth blade on Himalayan blackberries. But it laid waste to the brambles with no hesitation or resistance. I was able to sweep it back and forth through brambles up to 6 feet high and left behind a trail of foot long stem chunks. You definitely want to respect this machine. It can kickback. It can throw debris. It is noisy. And if it hit a body part, it would do serious damage. Heavy clothes, googles or a face shield, and good ear plugs are all musts. The harness has a crotch protector for a reason. The goggles that come with it were too cheap for me to trust. ... show more

I ordered this to clear willows and brush. This thing is fantastic. The chainsaw head cuts through trees up to about 4 inches just like a chainsaw. I'd totally buy this again. Easy to use and seems good quality.

This thing is not a lightweight, cutesy tool. You absolutely need the harness. I got the 51.7cc, 2-cycle model. I ran it for maybe 3 hours yesterday. The first tank I mixed oil-rich, the next two were 50:1 as specified. The assembly instructions could be waaaay better, but you can figure it out after you stare at it a while. It would also be nice if the instructions were for the model I got. Also, the male part of the stem had been very slightly compressed so that it was a tiny bit elliptical, which made it hard to insert, but I was able to do it once I decided to just shove it in hard. As long as I don't need to take it apart again, it will be fine. I do wish the gear head on the front had a grease zerk like the instructions showed, rather than a permanently sealed head. The thing is also heavy, and the throttle lock switch only barely works, but I didn't really need it. The included hearing protectors are kind of junky. The thing is so heavy that is harder than I anticipated to use it to cut stuff that isn't along the ground, but you can still swing it up to cut horizontal brush 5' off the ground if you need do, but it's not ideal for that. Now for the good: This thing CUTS IT DOWN. I installed the carbide-tipped saw blade and it will take down wood stalks up to an inch or so without you even slowing your swing. Smaller than that and you literally don't get any feedback that you're cutting anything at all. Clusters of half a dozen 1" stems will slightly slow it, but only slightly. Only when you get up to really hard wood above maybe 1.5" will you have to slow down, and it will still buzz through 3" softwood almost without slowing. Bigger than that, and you have to let it saw through for a few seconds. The only problems I had were operator error, where I got the blade jammed between 2 or three small tree trunks, and I had to hold up the until while pushing the trees apart to free the blade. After that happened the second time I learned to be more careful in those areas. Also when the trees get bigger than 2-3" you have to ensure it isn't going to pinch. The biggest thing I cut was about 5", which is right at the limit, and that took maybe 15 sec. Now that I've put the brush on the ground, I'm going to rent a walk-behind brush cutter to essentially mulch it. As it was, it was so thick that even the heavy (~500 lb) brushcutter wouldn't bend it over enough to climb over it. I'm impressed. Update after a week: I've now used it pretty abusively for maybe 8 hours to clear brush. Some might even call it light land clearing- I wave it around at the base of thickets of brush and vines and briers. Many times I've hit a large stump from previous logging that has stopped the blade but didn't phase the machine. The blade is definitely dulling slightly, but still cuts fine. To change the tool, you need a new cotter pin, so you'll want to have small cotter pins on hand. I've been pleasantly surprised at how little (virtually zero) debris gets kicked back toward me using this. While you'd be foolish to run this without PPE, it doesn't kick back debris toward me like I thought it would; much less than a walk-behind mower does. I have two minor complaints/suggestions for the ProYama people if they read these reviews: 1) Make it so that you can rotate the head. Right now, it is only very useable if you're cutting things along the ground. It would be very easy to make it so that where the two shafts connect, you can assemble it rotated 90 degrees to make it much easier to cut along a vertical wall (like in an edger configuration). 2) It is VERY awkward to start the motor once you have the tool attached to the harness. It requires pulling the cord in a weird behind-the-back way that feels like it's on the edge of dislocating my shoulder. Setting the tool down and taking it off the harness to start it and then reattaching is an inconvenience. I don't know how doable it is, but consider making it easier to pull the cord and while the operator has the tool on the harness. ... show more

The PROYAMA 42.7cc gas weed wacker delivers strong cutting power and handles thick grass and brush effectively. The 3-in-1 feature adds versatility, making it useful for different yard tasks. However, it is quite heavy, which can make longer jobs tiring. The build quality feels average, and some parts may need occasional adjustment. Starting it can also take a few tries at times.
