  • Excellent
The Japanese make excellent small engines. Use echo oil - if using a pump that is a multi fuel (ethanol / non-ethanol) pump a couple of gallons in your truck to get the whisky out of the lines before putting in Echo's gas can, and you will have a yard tool for years. Or preferably use non-ethanol only pump - or be lazy and buy premixed fuel which is iffy at best. ... show more

  • Starts so easily.
I'm giving this Echo line trimmer a provisional 5 star review just because of it's ease of starting. All of the other line trimmers I've owned have become progressively more difficult to start, particularly after have sat in the garage for a season. This Echo started right away, even after months of disuse, stored in the garage. Also, the bump-style, string advance system works very well, not hanging up or getting tangled, at least so far. The Echo is pretty light - definitely not a back-breaker. For the price it's solidly built and reliable. I'll update this review if something changes. ... show more

  • Back in the 70s my dad had a lightweight Japanese chainsaw...
When my Stihl trimmer gave up the ghost, after being a pain in the *** for a long time, I decided to switch brands. My dad had a little Echo chainsaw way back in the 70s, and it was the first chainsaw I ever used. It was lightweight compared to the massive McCullough he also had, and I made some good money going around the neighborhood and cutting up firewood. I realize that was a long time ago, and that old chainsaw was entirely made of metal, while this new trimmer has its far share of plastic. But I think the quality pulls through. This trimmer is much lighter than the Stihl, and even better, I can change out the string much easier on this version than the Stihl. It's easy to start, the instructions are easy to understand, and I think this brand is more consumer friendly, especially for new users. Having said this, this Echo is only for yards and small jobs. The Stihl was a professional version like you see on a landscape truck. Either way, I'm not going back. 5/5* ... show more

  • Time consuming
This product is slow to start up. It sputters and doesn't ever get the power it should have. Also, there is a gap right above the head that long grass wraps around and you have to stop every couple seconds to clear the grass out.

  • Good product horrible head
Good weed eater works great for all the stuff I need around the house except the head and the string for it was such a pain to use that I had to go and get a different head for it. once I did it was 100% better. If you’re going to get this, I recommend getting a different head for it and only cost about 20 bucks. ... show more
