I really like this bacon micro cooking plate. It is made of sturdy plastic with a great fitting cover so there is no splattering. I have a 1000 watt GE microwave with an 11.3 inch turning plate. This unit sits evenly on plate and turns perfectly. I cook 4-5 pieces of Oscar Meyer bacon on medium setting (6) for about 5-6 minutes. No turning needed. I have cooked sausage patties too. Grease and water drip into groves in pan. Taste of the food is wonderful!! Sides of pan stay cool to remove from micro and top stays cool to check progress during cooking. The secret to good outcome is not to cook too fast and cook on lower power. Fat drains off easily and pan comes out totally clean in dishwasher. I hand wash the top. Great value.

I searched for years for a way of making good bacon without making a mess; I was ready to accept the situation as one of life’s great inequities. For about $10, this goes a long way toward fighting injustice. The results aren’t in the baked-bacon class, but they compete surprisingly well with the pan-fried stuff. This plastic grill is sturdier than I expected from the reviews. I suggest picking up an extra package of bacon to test what works best for your microwave and preferences; that’s the only tricky part of using this. Of course, you’ll have to suffer through trying a lot of bacon. This is NOT a gadget for anyone attempting to lose weight. With a large (1,100W) microwave, I tried 80, 90, and 100% power for 1 minute per slice. You could probably cram 6 slices on there, but I found that 4 worked much better. At 80%, they were nicely even and slightly crisp. Higher settings left slightly burned. Out of curiosity, I tried a light sprinkling of brown sugar, which I enjoy on baked bacon. The results were slimy and about the consistency of beef jerky. resist the urge. The plastic gets hot, by the way, but I was able to lift the tray by the sides straight from the microwave. The lid needs to cool a little first and isn’t as easy to grasp as I’d like. It’s dishwasher-safe, but remember to drain or wipe off most the grease first. If you want even easier bacon, use this grill to prepare 4 slices, removing them when they’re just cooked through. Finish cooking the remainder of the package in batches like this, then package them in sets of four layered between paper towels. Put them in a gallon bag, and refrigerate them as soon as they cool down. When you’re want a few slices, take out as many as you want and cook them for another 30-45 seconds, wrapped in their paper towels on a plate. This is especially nice for couples and single folks. All in all, this was a great investment for the money. Recommended!

I'm diabetic and due to high blood sugar readings last month months I decided to go back on the Atkins/Keto diet (no carbs ). I now enjoy bacon and eggs again every morning instead of oatmeal or cereal. My blood sugar readings after 2 days of close to 0 carbs are back in the normal range. I've microwaved bacon for years using 2 other devices. Both required draping a paper towel over the top to prevent splattering bacon grease all over the microwave. Even with the paper towel some grease made it to the glass turntable and walls of the microwave. Then I saw this on Amazon and with all the great reviews I decided I had to get one. PROS: This makes great crispy bacon The bacon is flat, not curled up. The bacon is delicious, almost up to baking in the oven standards, but taking much less time. The grease is all in the bottom of the grill between the ridges. CONS: A lot of steam builds up under the lid making the lid too hot to touch bare handed. The handle to remove the lid is flush with the top of the lid and even though it is slightly textured, it's indented and hard to grasp without using a paper towel or similar to grasp it. A potholder is too thick to fit. As a single senior I never have enough dirty dishes/silverware to run the dishwasher regularly. I hand wash my dishes and the grill is a pain to clean. The underside of the handle is not flush with the rest of the underside, but indented and hollow. It traps grease and because it's such a thin space it makes it hard to clean. A regular kitchen sponge cannot completely clean between the ridges in the grill. I need to use a small brush and lots of elbow grease to get the bacon bits off and the grill pan clean. The bacon that I use is a little too long to lay straight. I have to push the ends in, but as it shrinks while cooking it's just a minor annoyance. It takes longer than the expected minute per slice at 80% power. I'll get it dialed in after a few more times so I don't really consider this a problem. It seems that 4 strips takes 6 minutes at 80% power in my 1100 watt microwave. Also 1 of the middle strips needs to be moved to the outside after about 4 minutes to insure it's fully cooked. I'm going to experiment with rearranging the strips after 2-3 minutes to see if I can get a more even cook using less time.

This bacon tray was a little larger than i expected for my small microwave but im not knocking it. It works great and definitely worth buying. For those who have mentioned on other reviews or even this one about the after mess and clean up, I learned this trick from the microwaveable bacon that comes in individual packages. Just lay down some paper towels between the bacon and the tray to soak up the grease and stains. Makes cleaning a thousand times easier! Enjoy
