The 1800W efficient heating is incredibly fast. For a 5-gallon batch, it brings my water up to strike temperature in a fraction of the time compared to my old stove-top method. This significantly speeds up brew day, which is always a win. I primarily use it in a large insulated cooler, and it handles the volume with ease. The smart temperature control with auto heating and shutoff is where this unit truly shines for brewing. I can set it precisely to my desired strike temperature (usually around 160-170°F for my mashes), and it will heat the water and then automatically maintain that temperature. The unit shutting off and restarting when the temperature drops 15°F is fantastic for keeping my mash stable during longer rests, ensuring optimal enzyme activity. While it defaults to 175°F, it's easy to adjust it down, which is perfect for most ale mashes. The real-time temperature display is incredibly helpful. While the note about the 5°F discrepancy is good to know, it's consistent, so I can easily calibrate my target. It allows me to monitor the water temperature without constantly dipping in a thermometer, freeing me up for other brew day tasks. Purchased this immersion heater so we could have warm baths while we waited for our water heater to be fixed. Overall, this is a good product and serves it's intended purpose, but with a few very important caveats. The unit appears well built, and it has an easy to use thermostat with a clear temperature readout. It works reasonably quickly, taking around 30-45 minutes to heat up a small size bath with somewhat cool water. A large bath would likely take an hour. The unit beeps once it's reached the target temperature and shuts off the heating element. It also automatically shuts off if you take it out of the water. However, there are a few very important safety considerations you must know. First, I would strongly recommend against being in the water at the same time as the unit. There's of course the very small risk of electric shock. You must plug this into a GFCI outlet (one that has test and reset buttons on it). Push the test button to see if it trips - if it doesn't the outlet needs to be replaced and won't protect you. Press reset to turn the power back on. A more likely hazard is the water being heated too high or unevenly and possibly burning you. I gently moved the unit back and forth by it's cord to stir the water a couple times while it worked. The unit can be set to heat to ~175°F, which is dangerously hot and could cause severe burns. I'd recommend trying it out at 95°F and see if that's warm enough before cranking it up any further. Finally, the power cord is relatively short. If you use an extension cord, it *MUST* be a very heavy duty model rated for 1600 watts or more. 12 gauge wire or better (wire gauge gets thicker with lower numbers, so a 14 or 16 gauge cord is smaller than 12). Do not use that wimpy extension cord you have for holiday lights, it will melt and possibly burn. I would recommend this product to people who have an understanding of the safety hazards associated with water heating. However, if you're not familiar, I would not recommend using this for a bathtub.

This works great for outdoors or if you don't have any water heater in your house and need a good hot bathtub or shower. It's easy to use and seems very secure. You can't be inside the bathtub or keep the element inside the bucket if you're getting your hands or body in there per instructions and obvious reasons. The cord is not very long but gets the job done and is very thick AWG so it can handle all the power consumption. Heats fairly quickly and it has a screen that is constantly measuring the current temperature. You can adjust from different degrees, and it would keep the water at that temp. So far been working great!

Super easy to set up. Plug it in, select your desired temp, and let it do its thing! Heated a 2 gallon bucket of water from 70 up to 175 in less than 2 minutes. Great safety feature too - it won't turn on unless submerged. Awesome for a variety of potential scenarios - from keeping your fish pond from freezing over to water troughs for outdoor animals.
