So, I've had a chance to use this product for a while and write a proper review. I have an inground vinyl lined pool of about 25,000 gallons. For 32 years I have had issues dealing with algae. I was tired of spending a $100 on a gallon of algaecide at Leslie's that was barely effective and would still get some algae. I saw Pool Rix and decided to give it a try. The description states that it will last up to 6 months. Our summers are brutal with a lot of days over 100 degrees and decided if this controlled algae for at least three months I would be very pleased. Yesterday was the three month period and I have not seen a speck of algae since I started using Pool Rx. That has never happened in 32 years. I am very pleased how this has worked in my pool. As an added benefit I am using far less chlorine in the pool. With dichlor costing $300 for 50 lbs, this product is paying for itself. I even bought the booster but haven't had to use it yet. I would highly recommend this for anyone's pool.

We purchased one of these in March when we bought a house with a pool for the first time. Our pool remained crystal clear and clean all summer. We have now reached the end of August, 5 months, and started noticing some algae and cloudiness, even though we shocked and maintained the chlorine. I realized the PoolRX was likely at the end of its life, so we ordered another one and installed as soon as it arrived. The pool cleared up overnight, the algae brushed off the walls and the pool looks crystal clear again! Excellent product! Highly recommend. For reference we have a 30K gallon pool and live in North Texas.

I would have to go on for a week to tell you how great this product is!! Our pool was so green it was hard to tell where the pool stopped and the grass began. We tried everything. More chlorine, less chlorine, shocking treatments, etc., and we were forever brushing, skimming and vacuuming it. And by “we” I mean “me”. Trying to get the pool clear had honestly become my part time job.😩 Then we bought this PoolRx and the heavens opened up and the angels began to sing! 😊 Within just a few days the pool was clear and beautiful! It began to look like a pool at a resort or from a magazine. Plus it works 24/7, lasts six months and there is virtually nothing we have to do. WOW! This PoolRx is a miracle for us and we’re customers for life! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Providing excellent maintenance results. Cleared algae, which was continually threatening my 25K gallon pool under many large live oaks producing pollen, blooms, leaves, twigs, galls, and a mast year of acorns. I hope this algaecide unit continues this well through the advertised six months.

The Pool RX-Black works well... It is expensive ($90/unit-good for a 25-30K gallon pool) and in the CA summer heat may not last the full advertized 6 mos effective life. It also requires that you keep your pool chemistry balanced (free Chlorine levels, pH, Alkalinity, Ca Hardness). I have tried a number of other liquid algicides with mostly marginal to poor results - they are all expensive, especially if you have to keep adding more because they aren't doing an effective job and you have to do extensive cleaning to keep the algae off the bottom and sides of the pool. The Pool RX unit just sits in the skimmer or pre-filter basket and controls both black and yellow algae (good pool chemistry is important). If I got the full 6 mos of effective control with one unit, I would have given Pool RX 5 stars.

I love this product. It eliminates algae. I highly recommend this. It says they last 6 months but I have had one last that long. I went through 2 of them last summer. Which is still way cheaper that all the shock and other chemicals I was using every week and still fight an algae problem. The first one lasted about 2 months. The second one last through the winter. When I opened the pool this year I still had a fairly new one that I used at the end if the summer. I saved it and used it to open my pool this year. My pool was so green that you could not see the bottom. I opened the pool but didn’t have time to shock it or do anything. I stuck the pool RX on the skimmer to see if it would help at all. 1 week later my pool was clear with zero shock used. That blew my mind. I thought it was just a preventative but it killed all the algae and cleared the pool up. My water started getting green again a month later so I shocked it and bought this Pool RX to start the new pool season. I still use a chlorine tab floater but I don’t shock the pool but maybe once a month now. I only do that because people say I should. But my water is crystal clear. Just try it. I think you will be impressed. But you will likely need two of the to complete the pool season. But it is worth it because the maintenance is down to basically just vacuuming once a week.

This stuff has saved me so much time, money and HASSLE. I’ve used it now going on four months and my pool is absolutely perfect!!! I have added shock maybe twice after heavy 2-3 days of rain and no issues whatsoever. It’s worth every penny!

Get this! We’ve fought with algae spots and chemical imbalance all summer. We would have to brush the sides of the pool every evening because it would start to form again. We were dumping shock and chlorine and algae purifier in and it would never clear for more than a day. Our pool looks so good now! Crystal clear water. The box is a little scary with a lot of warnings but we dropped it in the basket carefully and never touched it again. We will buy this every summer now!
