  • Great Product.
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
We had recurring problems with algae blooms and chlorine demand. A friend suggested PoolRx. Followed the instructions, tested the water levels, and installed the product at the pump filter basket. It’s been about 7 days and the pool looks better than it ever has. Stubborn algae spots are gone. Chlorine level is maintaining. Old scale deposits brushed right off the bottom. Water is crystal clear. Extremely happy with PoolRx. Thumbs up! ... show more

  • Works like a charm, sparkling algae free water all season long
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
I was sceptical when I first bought this, but now my pool can't live without it. I put a new one in late spring, and it sees me all through the season, and honestly only running to pump to maintain over winter, it's keeping me pretty much algae free all year around. The only think I noticed; I changed from a powder to a granular shock, and the copper in the water deposited or and left black stains on my pool floor which sucks. And I'm still struggling to get rid of them. I think I may need to have the pool repainted. Lesson learned, my fault not the products. My granules sat at the bottom of the pool instead of dissolving like the powder (which i'd used for 3 years with this product with no I'll effects). I notice when I take the thing out (which I did to try and get rid of the stains) I noticed the algae started coming back. So it definitely works! Keep your pool chemicals in good order, and make sure you buy the right size, plop it in and let it do it's thing! Clean sparkling water. ... show more

  • An excellent product!
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
So, I've had a chance to use this product for a while and write a proper review. I have an inground vinyl lined pool of about 25,000 gallons. For 32 years I have had issues dealing with algae. I was tired of spending a $100 on a gallon of algaecide at Leslie's that was barely effective and would still get some algae. I saw Pool Rx and decided to give it a try. The description states that it will last up to 6 months. Our summers are brutal with a lot of days over 100 degrees and decided if this controlled algae for at least three months I would be very pleased. Yesterday was the three month period and I have not seen a speck of algae since I started using Pool Rx. That has never happened in 32 years. I am very pleased how this has worked in my pool. As an added benefit I am using far less chlorine in the pool. With dichlor costing $300 for 50 lbs, this product is paying for itself. I even bought the booster but haven't had to use it yet. I would highly recommend this for anyone's pool. Update: May 1, 2026. It's been 12 days shy of one year when I installed this. Just yesterday I noticed a tiny bit of algae in the pool for the first time since installation. Amazing! Never used the booster that I ordered. I put in a new cartridge today, looking forward to another year of no algae. ... show more

  • Works very well, but MUST know the size of your pool to get the correct size
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
Every year during summer vacation travel we return to a green pool. This year I wanted to try out PoolRX to see if could really make a difference. I accidentally got the largest pool sized item instead of the smallest but it did work, just way more effective than expected. If you have a pool service or regularly get chemicals understand both don't like this product as it works different and makes some chemicals un-necessary or outright not needed. Namely the copper levels will go way up and this can make using shock hazardous to your pool's finish. Again I used one way oversized so it was too much for my small pool but it did work. As the pool was barely starting to tinge green I put this is the basket and ran the pool for a day and water was clear the next morning and remained so the next 2 weeks. When I took a sample in to confirm alkalinity and PH (both fine) the copper was way too high (1.7ppm) so trying to balance everything else was a problem. I will be getting the correct sized one next, for the smallest pools, and use this in July when we are gone for 3 weeks. I was impressed in the performance just didn't realize it was for much larger pools. I like not having to use multiple conditioners, brighteners, and sanitizers. I will revise after getting the pool at a good baseline and using the correct sized one at the height of the season. ... show more

  • Does your Algicide really work??
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
The Pool RX-Black works well... It is expensive ($90/unit-good for a 25-30K gallon pool) and in the CA summer heat may not last the full advertized 6 mos effective life. It also requires that you keep your pool chemistry balanced (free Chlorine levels, pH, Alkalinity, Ca Hardness). I have tried a number of other liquid algicides with mostly marginal to poor results - they are all expensive, especially if you have to keep adding more because they aren't doing an effective job and you have to do extensive cleaning to keep the algae off the bottom and sides of the pool. The Pool RX unit just sits in the skimmer or pre-filter basket and controls both black and yellow algae (good pool chemistry is important). If I got the full 6 mos of effective control with one unit, I would have given Pool RX 5 stars. ... show more

  • pool saver!
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
This saved our pool! Our pool was green with mustard algae - we brought multiple samples to our pool store and they told us all our chemicals were balanced so they weren’t sure why our pool was discolored. I did some research and found this - it cleared our pool in days! it has never looked better, such a bright blue now! 10/10 recommend this to any pool owner! ... show more

  • Plug and Play and Forget It - PoolRx Works!
Size: Single Unit Pattern Name: Algaecide Treats
Plug and play and forget for six months. I live in east central Florida and my pool (~25.000 gal salt) gets a lot of summer use (April into October) and I keep it about 85+ degrees with the solar on. I used to use a broad-spectrum liquid algicide applied weekly. A bottle would last a month but at $38 a bottle, it was pricey, not to mention you had to remember to add it regularly to keep the algae from appearing. I started using the PoolRx product a year ago - GAME CHANGER! You drop the unit in the pump filter basket chamber and forget it for 6 months...and NO ALGAE! No apparent effect on water quality or water chemistry balances, no odor, no corrosion of metal components (ladders) or surface or grout staining - it just flat works! Highly recommended. (If you're unsure about which unit to buy based on your pool's displacement in gallons, I'd err on the up side get the bigger unit in terms of pool gallon size.) ... show more
