Instructions are useless. The video they refer you to is only slightly better. Ended up not being all that difficult to figure out. The reel itself is of good quality. My pool is 16’ wide, so I set up the reel at 18’. Solar cover fits well on the reel. The only problem is that it sags in the middle. Just needs a bigger diameter tube. I cut the legs down 4 inches so it will fit under my diving board. Overall I’m pleased with the reel, but a bigger diameter tube would make it much better.

I am a 67 year old woman and found it easier than I expected to use. As long as I step on the foot bar, I am good for reeling up the 30-foot length cover with some adjustment to the plastic while turning the handle. I was surprised that the bar stayed in place when unraveling the cover, tho it is much easier with two people. In fact two persons controlling this is best, but one can do it with little difficulty. Admittedly, I did not put it together, but my handyman had it complete in under an hour, including unboxing, coordinating and installing the pool blanket hooks to the bubble cover and attaching to the reel. The price is terrific and the delivery was super fast. Very happy with my purchase.

I looked at the options on Amazon. This looked best for the price. It was not all that easy to assemble, but not extremely difficult for the average handy person with a few tools. It requires careful measurement to determine how long (wide pool) this needs to be, and my pool widens in the middle, which makes it complicated to use this with my pool cover. The white plastic clips that connect to your cover are really difficult to connect to the cover! I thought they'd be easy to snap on, but... it was tough to snap them and they keep popping off! Worst of all, when you roll the handle to roll up the cover, the entire reel flops around, hops up and down, and doesn't stay in place as you roll the cover in. Further, the reel would prefer to roll into the pool instead of rolling the cover OUT of the pool! It needs to be securely fastened to your pool deck or at least put some cement blocks or something heavy on the feet of the reel to keep it in place while rolling the cover up on it. Likewise, when I pull the cover off the reel, the reel wants to jump in the pool instead of unrolling the cover! I hope you have better luck.

Failed in less than three months. The wheel that rolls up the pool cover — a key component subjected to a moderate amount of force during use — cracked completely at the center hub, rendering the entire reel system unusable. As you can see in the attached image, the plastic at the core of the wheel cracked under normal use. This isn’t a minor cosmetic issue — it’s a total structural failure. The forces exerted on a pool cover reel during rolling and unrolling are significant, and it’s clear this system was not designed to handle them. The material is flimsy, brittle plastic with no reinforcement where it matters most. This kind of failure reveals more than just a bad part — it speaks to poor engineering and cheap manufacturing across the entire reel system. If the wheel failed this quickly, I have no confidence in the longevity of the other components. For the price, I expected something functional and durable — not a disposable piece of plastic that collapses under basic stress. Avoid this product unless you’re okay replacing it mid-season or rigging up your own reinforcement. The concept is fine, but the execution is seriously flawed.

Directions are not very clear but once you figure them out it is ok. The product is well made and sturdy. It requires two people to reel in a 16ml cover, otherwise the stand side falls over when reeling in. I had to return because I needed one that can be operated with one person.
