  • Working great
Capacity: 500GB Style: SSD
Using Youtube videos I was able to install the SSD into my HP laptop without any issues. I also cloned my original hard disk to this drive and made it my boot drive using Reflect 8. Everything went just as expected and my laptop which had been dragging is now flying. It gave new life to this machine. I am completely satisfied with the PNY SSD. ... show more

  • 2TB version works for PS5…but only shows ~3850mb/s read speeds. Firmware bug perhaps?
Capacity: 2TB Style: SSD + HEATSINK
Ordered one of these on black friday and have been using it in my PS5. I read/watched a number of reviews on this SSD before ordering and all said that even though the advertised read speed is 5600mb/s it had no issues reaching those speeds in the PS5, which the stated M.2 requirement from Sony is 5500mb/s read. All the reviews I came across showed the SSD reaching around 5600mb/s no problem. However, after installing this SSD in my PS5, the internal benchmark showed the drive only reaching ~3850mb/s read speed. After kind of freaking out about this, I happened to read more reviews here on Amazon and a few other people mentioned the same behavior from the SSD. Seems like it could be a bug however. The PS5 did not prevent me from using the SSD anyway despite it not reaching the minimum 5500mb/s read speed and while I did not scientifically test it, PS5 games like Ratchet and Clank, Demon’s Souls remake, or Spiderman Miles Morales did appear to load just as fast, if not faster than the internal SSD from what I could remember. Did not experience any other issues with the rest of the PS5 games I tried, but those three aforementioned games are known for having some of the quickest load times in the existing PS5 library at this point in time. So while disappointing the benchmark speed did not reach the advertised speed of 5600mb/s which professional and youtube reviewers were able to attain, it DOES still work in the PS5 with all the native PS5 games I’ve tested. So I’m thinking it’s likely just a read speed bug. We’ll see if the SSD working fine continues to be the case as more native PS5 games are released. At worst I’ll have to get a different SSD in the future and will likely just throw this one in my computer as additional storage for my Steam library. It did reach close to its advertised read speeds when I tested the SSD in a computer via AS-SSD benchmark, so that’s what leads me to believe it’s likely a read speed bug in the PS5 and why it appears to be working just fine for games. For the price I don’t regeret it since at worst I’ll have an extra m.2 drive for my computer. ... show more

  • Inexpensive but great M.2!
Capacity: 500GB Style: SSD
For people writing about the speeds not working properly? Please take note: 10th gen and below Intel processors will default to 3rd generation speeds so you will see Read speeds in the 3K -4K range. This is an Intel Limitation. 11th generation and 12 Generation are the one that can run the 4th generation speeds. Additionally, you have to install the M.2 in a 4th gen slot for it to work, if you don't you will still wind up at 3rd Gen speeds. Know what you are buying, and how to use it! This M.2 works Perfectly. ... show more

  • Good storage drive
Capacity: 2TB Style: SSD
I grabbed the 2TB version of the CS3040 to use as a storage drive in a new Alder Lake build. I'd been using a pair of 6tb WD Black spinners in R0, but as the storage is primarily used for games I decided to go with speed over size. The upside is there is a definite speed improvement, obviously. In both transfer and random access. Downside is it's not quite hitting the rated transfer speeds in benchmarks, a few hundred MB/s short in both reads and writes according to CDM. Still faster than a gen 3 NVMe drive, however. This is in a 12700k build, with a GB Z690 Aorus Pro and a 2x16gb T.Force Delta 6000MHz kit. The 3040 is in the second NVMe slot using the motherboard's included heatsink. ... show more

  • PS5 Disc SSD fit's great
Capacity: 2TB Style: SSD + HEATSINK
Just popped mine into the PS5 Disc version, fit's perfectly fine. No clearnace issues getting the plastic cover back on. Obviously, the old cover plate doesn't go back on... it would defeat the whole point of having a heat sink.
