I installed this 1TB SSD in my ASUS TUF 17 after moving the original 500 GB SSD to the other slot. The ASUS computer has one Gen 3 and one Gen 4 slot. The original SSD is a Gen 3, but comes installed in the Gen 4 slot, so it's advantageous to move it and install this PNY Gen 4 SSD in the Gen 4 slot of the computer. After installing it it's necessary to use the hard disk tools to initialize and format the new SSD, then the computer will recognize it. After that it started up and ran slow at first while the computer reloaded the cache and recognized the new hardware. Our son's SSD was only 512GB and with all his games and other stuff he was running low. We got him this one which should last for a good amount of time. For less critical data he can have one of the unused 3TB HDDs. Supposedly the gen4 NVMe in combination with Windows 11 has a significant advantage via DirectStorage, i.e. instead of decompressing gaming data on the CPU it loads them compressed onto the GPU where they will be decompressed. With the NVidia 3080 in the system this should be fairly quick. However, not many games support it yet. But at least with this SSD it should work fine. Btw, it's not the fastest Gen4 on the market but still really fast. ... show more

Using this as my boot OS drive and my boot times are about 3sec solid. I didn't see any need to go for any larger drive for an OS drive. Cost per GB is outstanding. Read/Write speeds get the job done.

Product seems to perform well. I used EaseUS disk copy to clone my existing drive using an inexpensive enclosure I bought from Amazon to go with it. The whole process took 15 minutes to copy and then swap out the drive. My OS was transferred with no issues.

I grabbed this to replace my Chromebook hard drive that only came with 128gigs seems to be slightly faster then the western digital stock drive good for my needs pny has been around a while in the PC building space so I grabbed it .. If you're using a Chromebook just know chrome os uses around 400 plus gigs this isn't a pny issue it's how chrome os allocates storage based on the size of it. You will get around 1.5 tb after a restore on chrome os on windows u get more if it's a gaming only drive no os it'll be 1.88 tb roughly ... show more
