  • A little tricky, but worth the buy!
Pros: - cheap compared to other NG fireplaces - looks great - works great Cons: - Fire went out, on the low setting, after first hour or so. Seems to be on any setting, the fire gets lower after a time, so you should avoid using the lower settings to prevent your house being filled with gas. (Update -- there seems to be a non electrical temp gauge that's shuts this off / lowers the fire after a time. When this fully shuts off, there is a brief gas smell, but it won't 'fill your house with gas') - Arrived damaged. The front grate is partially broken & dented. Will be reaching out to resolve. (Update -- Amazon gave me about $100 off instead of returning. This was acceptable) I am writing this review for the next person that decides they want to buy & install this, but have little to no experience with these things. I had an existing broken gas heater, and I wanted to replace it with this gas fireplace. I watched a couple youtube videos, and figured I was good to go. For the most part, I was! There were a couple places I got tripped up though, so if you are like me, hopefully you will find these tips helpful. - Be sure to remove the access panel in the back, and switch the setting from "LP" to "NG" if you are using natural gas, then replace the access panel. - You need a 3/8" gas line kit for this. Amazon recommended that I buy a "universal gas appliance kit". I should have bought it but didn't due to extended shipping time for just that one item. Ended up needing to buy it at Home Depot later. If you run into that same problem, buy the 3/8" one. - Fireplace ships with both gas intakes having a metal seal/cap on it that you need to remove before you can attach the gas pipe. You can look into the intake and see that there's solid metal there. You need to unscrew it with a wrench before you can attach the gas pipe. There is no mention of this in the instruction manual, although it makes sense to have one and a professional would likely know this without the instruction. ... show more

  • Heats nicely
Our house is around 1200 sq ft. It’s also an energy star home. This heater heats the house up to 80 degrees in no time at all on setting 3. Ours is set to natural gas. The top gets warm, the picture I uploaded with the decorations on top was BEFORE it was hooked up to gas. I don’t recommend putting anything plastic on top, fairly certain it would melt. The top is warm/hot to touch depending on the person. My husband says it’s warm, I can’t leave my hand on it for very long. (Lack of calluses, maybe?) The flames are blue on bottom and yellow on top, unsure if that would change being hooked up to propane. When it’s set to 1-2 the flames lose the yellow and are just blue. It is fairly simple to assemble. I had only one minor issue with a bolt for one of the feet that was stripped from the manufacturer. Thankfully, my husband had one that worked. This sucker is heavy. It comes with rubber feet to protect the floor. You wlll have to stand on your head to adjust the temperature and light the pilot light. Our biggest issue was we couldn’t get it to light once we bled the line. Turns out that was our error and we didn’t make sure it was set to natural gas and not propane. After we switched it, it lit just fine. I have noticed if you set it to 3 and up the flames will slowly die down over time. Not sure if that’s normal, but it still puts out the heat and isn’t a big deal. Ours stays on setting 2 and will switch off and on as needed. Anything higher and it won’t switch off, not because there’s anything wrong, but because we’d cook before it was hot enough to turn off (joke). But seriously, this unit gets hot. Another minor issue we had, not with the unit, was our smoke alarms. I’m guessing the first few times it was on it had to burn whatever was on it off. Our smoke alarms were singing like mad, and when one goes off all of them in every room goes off cause they’re wired in together. Talk about a headache. BUT it’s day 2 of it being on full time and no more issues out of the smoke alarms. Overall an awesome purchase. I would definitely recommend this fireplace. It’s easy on the eye and will heat your home efficiently. ... show more

  • Love the stove so far but pricey to have it installed
Have used the stove with several weeks and enjoy it so far. Heats up quickly and looks attractive. Only down side was the cost to have it installed by HVAC contractor. I am not familar enough with natural gas hookups to do it myself so I had my HVAC people come in and run the natural gas supply line off the gas forced air furnance they installed a few years back. It materials and labor it cost almost double what the stove itself costs but I have to consider I now have backup heat if our electric would go off in cold weather. ... show more

  • Exceeds my expectations
Put this in my 1500 square foot shop. Bubble insulation on walls and roll insulation on ceiling. My shop/ man cave is nice and toasty. I opened my roll up door today to get my jeep out, 35F outside. Closed my door and within 20 minutes, shop was warm again. Yes the flame gets small sometimes but that is only because the temperature is achieved. I see others feed back and say the flame keeps getting smaller, that is because it is simply cutting back when it gets close to set point. If a fire is what you want to see, open a window or door. If heat is what you want, this is the ticket. ... show more
