  • Great Heater
I read the reviews on this prior to purchasing it. I was a little worried based on some of the reviews, but I have to tell you, it was well worth the money. I have a Heat Pump and Electric heat strips in my home AC unit, however, my thermostat is located in my upstairs hallway, which meant that my downstairs was freezing all winter. I had my gas company come out and install a large propane tank and stub out the gas piping for me, the heater itself was super easy to assemble, hook up & operate. It heats my entire house, upstairs included, I bought the electric blower for it and found that I didn't need it. My HVAC unit hasn't kicked on since I started using this heater. ... show more

  • Works just fine now.
I had originally given this item One Star. I am now revising my review to account for user error. There is a whole novel's worth of experiences behind this item. I purchased this way back in March of 2023. It arrived beat up but since it didn't appear to affect the functionality of the item we kept it. We tried all summer to get someone to do the plumbing for it. Everyone we called either refused or no showed, so we did it ourselves. It wasn't hard, we have a full basement. Then we couldn't get the unit to light. We got a new thermocoupler, we cleaned everything, we double and triple checked that we had gas in the line. We had given up then he decided to check the back of the unit one more time before taking it completely apart. My dear husband had removed the blue cap but not the actual screw in plug the manufacture puts in it for protection during shipping. No, this man had the line scewed in with the plug in place. Once he removed the plug, he ran to the hardware store for one small adapter piece and now we have flame. It works perfect. Now I do have to tell ya'all something weird. I cannot smell the rotton egg smell the company puts in natural gas. That being said, I do smell something when this is on. It's not gas though, it smells wet. Nothing I've read says anything about this so I am not concerned. It puts out a ton of heat, the thermostat works perfectly. I bought the blower for this item too and it's pretty quiet. Overall, in spite of the fact my husband didn't fully read the manual which clearly states the plug must be removed before use, I am pleased with this product. ... show more

  • A little tricky, but worth the buy!
Pros: - cheap compared to other NG fireplaces - looks great - works great Cons: - Fire went out, on the low setting, after first hour or so. Seems to be on any setting, the fire gets lower after a time, so you should avoid using the lower settings to prevent your house being filled with gas. (Update -- there seems to be a non electrical temp gauge that's shuts this off / lowers the fire after a time. When this fully shuts off, there is a brief gas smell, but it won't 'fill your house with gas') - Arrived damaged. The front grate is partially broken & dented. Will be reaching out to resolve. (Update -- Amazon gave me about $100 off instead of returning. This was acceptable) I am writing this review for the next person that decides they want to buy & install this, but have little to no experience with these things. I had an existing broken gas heater, and I wanted to replace it with this gas fireplace. I watched a couple youtube videos, and figured I was good to go. For the most part, I was! There were a couple places I got tripped up though, so if you are like me, hopefully you will find these tips helpful. - Be sure to remove the access panel in the back, and switch the setting from "LP" to "NG" if you are using natural gas, then replace the access panel. - You need a 3/8" gas line kit for this. Amazon recommended that I buy a "universal gas appliance kit". I should have bought it but didn't due to extended shipping time for just that one item. Ended up needing to buy it at Home Depot later. If you run into that same problem, buy the 3/8" one. - Fireplace ships with both gas intakes having a metal seal/cap on it that you need to remove before you can attach the gas pipe. You can look into the intake and see that there's solid metal there. You need to unscrew it with a wrench before you can attach the gas pipe. There is no mention of this in the instruction manual, although it makes sense to have one and a professional would likely know this without the instruction. ... show more

  • The stove is nothing fancy but it seems functional.
Heats well and quickly but the fuel efficiency doesn't SEEM great. The lighting and flame adjustment mechanisms are under the stove so if getting down on the floor is a problem for you get something fancier. I'm testing the thermostat function and different graduated settings knob. It seems to work. It's the least expensive option and the stove heats the area well now in the mid-fall. ... show more
