Our house is around 1200 sq ft. It’s also an energy star home. This heater heats the house up to 80 degrees in no time at all on setting 3. Ours is set to natural gas. The top gets warm, the picture I uploaded with the decorations on top was BEFORE it was hooked up to gas. I don’t recommend putting anything plastic on top, fairly certain it would melt. The top is warm/hot to touch depending on the person. My husband says it’s warm, I can’t leave my hand on it for very long. (Lack of calluses, maybe?) The flames are blue on bottom and yellow on top, unsure if that would change being hooked up to propane. When it’s set to 1-2 the flames lose the yellow and are just blue. It is fairly simple to assemble. I had only one minor issue with a bolt for one of the feet that was stripped from the manufacturer. Thankfully, my husband had one that worked. This sucker is heavy. It comes with rubber feet to protect the floor. You wlll have to stand on your head to adjust the temperature and light the pilot light. Our biggest issue was we couldn’t get it to light once we bled the line. Turns out that was our error and we didn’t make sure it was set to natural gas and not propane. After we switched it, it lit just fine. I have noticed if you set it to 3 and up the flames will slowly die down over time. Not sure if that’s normal, but it still puts out the heat and isn’t a big deal. Ours stays on setting 2 and will switch off and on as needed. Anything higher and it won’t switch off, not because there’s anything wrong, but because we’d cook before it was hot enough to turn off (joke). But seriously, this unit gets hot. Another minor issue we had, not with the unit, was our smoke alarms. I’m guessing the first few times it was on it had to burn whatever was on it off. Our smoke alarms were singing like mad, and when one goes off all of them in every room goes off cause they’re wired in together. Talk about a headache. BUT it’s day 2 of it being on full time and no more issues out of the smoke alarms. Overall an awesome purchase. I would definitely recommend this fireplace. It’s easy on the eye and will heat your home efficiently.

5 stars. For the money, spectacular, was following this unit when it was $499 before the holidays, so $349.99 was a great deal. Arrived quickly, three days after order, assembly was simple, hook up to propane also simple. Looks very nice, flame is soft and realistic looking. Operating the unit is very easy. I understand the comment(s) about bending over to turn the unit on and receiving broken logs (sucks) but this unit is as nice, functionally, as units I was looking at for double and triple the price. The heat coming out of the unit is very warm and the blower just adds more to the capability. The blower when on high is not quiet but is functionally excellent. The unit is warm to the touch on top and on the sides, but not hot. If you want a remote thermostat control then you will need to pay for it, hundreds of dollars more on a different unit. My 2 cents, best bang for the buck I have gotten in quite a while and if want to heat your cold space quickly this is a great option. Will update if anything changes.

It's compact and puts out lots of heat and nicely complements my living room. The optional blower which i bought, installed very easily. Problems, the magnet that holds the control panel cover isn't strong enough. If you walk near, it will fall down. The other is the control knob sticks sometimes and won't turn to start the fire. The recommended blower is very noticeable and I won't turn it on if I want to relax near the fireplace.

I had originally given this item One Star. I am now revising my review to account for user error. There is a whole novel's worth of experiences behind this item. I purchased this way back in March of 2023. It arrived beat up but since it didn't appear to affect the functionality of the item we kept it. We tried all summer to get someone to do the plumbing for it. Everyone we called either refused or no showed, so we did it ourselves. It wasn't hard, we have a full basement. Then we couldn't get the unit to light. We got a new thermocoupler, we cleaned everything, we double and triple checked that we had gas in the line. We had given up then he decided to check the back of the unit one more time before taking it completely apart. My dear husband had removed the blue cap but not the actual screw in plug the manufacture puts in it for protection during shipping. No, this man had the line scewed in with the plug in place. Once he removed the plug, he ran to the hardware store for one small adapter piece and now we have flame. It works perfect. Now I do have to tell ya'all something weird. I cannot smell the rotton egg smell the company puts in natural gas. That being said, I do smell something when this is on. It's not gas though, it smells wet. Nothing I've read says anything about this so I am not concerned. It puts out a ton of heat, the thermostat works perfectly. I bought the blower for this item too and it's pretty quiet. Overall, in spite of the fact my husband didn't fully read the manual which clearly states the plug must be removed before use, I am pleased with this product.

Like many others in here, the first winter we used this it worked absolutely great & we couldn’t have been more pleased with our purchase. Now in our second winter the pilot light will not stay lit consistently. Sometimes it’s lit for 5 - 10 mins sometimes 30 or an hour and twice it’s actually stayed on through the night but we can’t count on it. So here we are, in the middle of the COVID 19 pandemic, our children are homeschooling & are frequently in the care of my elderly elderly mother while my husband & I are working out on the road for days at a time. As if life & survival aren’t stressful enough for everyone during this pandemic, we now are constantly worrying about our kids and mother staying warm enough while we’re gone as well as wondering when the piece of crap is going to permanently go out & what the hell we’re going to do when that happens... buying another heater right now IS NOT an option when just trying to keep our utilities turned on & food in the frig is our current priority. I’m not trying to be overly dramatical here, I just want people to realize what type of situations could arise if they buy this product and theirs has the same issue that so many others have had. I have to wonder how many of those who left great reviews at the onset use of their heaters actually ended up with the same pilot light issue but never thought to update their review to reflect what a piece of junk this heater actually is. While reading over the reviews prior to purchase, I saw the reviews about the pilot issue but took into consideration the overwhelming great reviews and chalked it up to that sometimes you might get a product with a factory defect. It’s now my opinion that the makers of this product know there is an issue with the pilot light that is going to occur with continued use of their product, and like they know most people will initially be delighted with their new heater and will likely leave a great review. I feel like we’ve been scammed.

Easy to install and hook up to my natural gas. This thing cranks some heat fs. Half way up at 32 outside I was sweating in shorts and a t shirt in a large living area usually very cold at these temperatures. Seems to be very sturdy. The problem with the cover falling I have not had and I have 3 100+ lb dogs running around. It is rather large but not too big. I recommend the blower that's recommended it makes the world of difference. The only con would be you have to manually turn it off and on as the fire place shuts off and turns on. Other than that if u dont see an update it did very well during January and February when it gets way colder than 32.. Part 2: it got below zero and it kept my front part of the house more than plenty warm. I actually found myself turning it down from about 3.5 out of 5 down to around 3 or a lil less. If it doesn't get below 20 about 2.5 or less. YOU WANT THE BLOWER ATTACHMENT THEY RECOMMEND. this heater cranks heat but the blower attachment is A MUST as it pushes the hot air not just up (w/o) but out into the room. My house was built in 1908 and is quite drafty so if it can keep a good 20' x 40' room and kitchen needing small space heater warm and cozy it could keep a well better built house more than warm and cozy. I definitely recommend this for someone looking for good source of heat. This heater was a life saver this winter. Last year we were lucky to have our house at 60 deg this year as I said above did not have that problem I could have had it at 80 if I wanted.

Good little heater for the price. Only complaint is no remote or digital temp control. There is a dial you have to turn and find the right setting for your home. Also bought the blower. You have to manually turn that on and off each time. Overall good value, gets really warm and looks pretty good. I had a problem with the temperature control cover latching closed, eneded up being a broken magnet- they issued a partial refumd right away, i was able to get a replacement magnet free from the manufacturer. very happy with

I ordered this exact same gas fireplace 5 years ago (Sept 2020) and enjoyed it so much, I bought another one for my guest house. No electricity needed. This little guy has kept my entire 1100 square foot house warm when the power has gone out. Mine is hooked to propane and is ventless. The pilot light is always on unless I do a hard turn-off (in the summer). There is no remote; you'll have to bend over and turn the little knob to light the flame. The lowest setting (1) keeps the house about 65 degrees. (2) between 68-70. 3-5 can get way hotter (I've had it 80 when my 21 year old daughter comes to visit--she likes it hot). I think it partially depends on the temp outside. Because it's ventless, we often keep a window slightly cracked open to offset any possible fumes. We do have a carbon detector and have never had any issues. Best bargain on Amazon for a self-contained unit complete with gas logs and connector kit for propane.
