Today I pulled it out to use it for the first time and I can get it to print but there's a large line right down the middle which completely ruins my reason for needing it as it ruins any QR code it prints of course I'm out of the return period. First, this thermal printer will work well for what I want. I purchased it to have a printer when we travel in our RV, wanted a small footprint that is easy to store, and did not want ink or toner. It was not purchased for high volume printing. However, there are a few oddities and negatives. First, even though I have several USB cables that work with both power and data, I found it will only work with the supplied cable. This could be a problem if the cable ever gets lost or damaged. Second, although I plan to use it with my M5 MacBook Air, and it works well with it printing a wide variety of documents, if printing from the iPhone app, it seems to only work with Microsoft documents (Word, Excel) and PDF. I use Apple Pages and Numbers, and although it will print those formats well from the MacBook, those documents are not supported by the iPhone App. You must convert them to PDF or a version of Word or Excel, something I would find problematic if I were printing any of my documents from the iPhone. Regarding printing from the app, the instructions are not quite clear when you first print using Bluetooth. When it states you should press start and scan the QR code, I did not see the QR code until the 3rd time due to the tightly curled the paper on the roll. I had thought the instructions meant to scan the bar code in the manual, which I thought odd but not correct. After I saw the QR code printed on the 3rd try, it connected after scanning it. Turning it off when connected to the MacBook, you you must disconnect the cable to the MacBook first. In regards to the quality of print, the rolled paper that came with it is difficult to uncurl as it is very tightly wound. The flat letter sized sheets I purchased work well. The print is easy to read in fonts sized 10, 12, 14, and 16. Smaller fonts are harder to distinguish, despite the "improved" print quality advertised on this model. You can definitely tell that these are thermo paper copies. The paper is thinner than regular copy paper, and the print is not as dark, even if set on thicker lines. I would not recommend using it for a professional proposal. It does not print as fast as all of the videos and stated page speed indicate. However, roughly averages 8-12 seconds depending upon how many characters or the size of any images. I found the iPhone app difficult to use and that it will only print PDF, Word, and Excel a problem for me. Despite the oddities or shortcomings, this meets all of my requirements using my MacBook laptop and the USB cable. I gave this 4 of 5 stars if you intend to use with a laptop. ... show more
