  • It Does What Needs To Be Done
I didn't know much about cars, so I left my Miata in the garage to "just chill" while I used my work vehicle for permitted personal use daily. However, when I finally decided to drive the Miata, I found the battery was completely dead. I had to manually open the trunk from the hard top, only to realize that the jump starter I thought was in there was missing. I took the battery to two local automotive places, both of which confirmed that it was a dud and couldn't hold a charge. Reluctant to spend nearly $200 on a new battery, I brought the battery home and watched YouTube videos on opening it up and attempting some unconventional fixes. During my time at the automotive shops, someone mentioned a trickle charger, so I did more research and this product recommended on Reddit. Thinking, "Why not," placed the order, received it and I connected the charger and left it for a month. With my tags expiring in July 2023, I decided to check on the car battery. To my surprise, the battery was back in business. Feeling optimistic but still lacking car knowledge, I drove it for errands, deciding to also include getting the car detailed. However, I soon started experiencing malfunctions, such as power steering issues, problems with the hard top, and flickering displays, me deducing it to be a possible electrical problem. Uncertain if there was a real issue or if I was mistaken, I contemplated going to Firestone or another automotive store to replace the battery while driving down Highway 6. I ultimately decided to visit an automotive store to replace the battery. Upon arriving, I asked the staff for assistance. When the guy opened the hood, we discovered that I had failed to tighten the bolt enough connecting the negative charge on the battery, causing it to become completely disconnected. We laughed it off, realizing that was likely the problem. Since I lacked car knowledge and wanted to be safe, I opted to trade the battery in for a new one to obtain the warranty, especially since I had bought the car used with its original battery. All of this made me realize that I could have avoided these issues if I had known what I was doing. The trickle charger had been my savior, enabling me to make it to the library, a coffee shop, and a few other places before the problems arose. After these events, I'm glad to be better prepared with a trickle charger for my Miata, allowing me to maintain my battery life. However, my alternator was tested and found to be faulty. The guy at the auto shop offered me a discount and said he would help me out should I encounter any future issues. It turned out to be a win/win situation for me. ... show more

  • Very useful, bought 2
I have 2 bikes, a 1986 Yamaha xv1100 and a 1992 Suzuki vs800. Bought one for each bike and installed them so the trickle charger can be easily plugged in. Works great. Lights up to show charge status. Easy to plug in.

  • Keeps your battery topped off when vehicle is not run
Modern cars sneakily wake themselves up at night to do all sorts of self-diagnostics, including running the fuel pump to test for vapor leaks. All this puts some drain on the battery, which can be considerable if the car is not run for several days on end, as was the case during the pandemic. Add to this the stress of winter temperatures. Add to this in my case that I have a Subaru which has an acknowledged problem (with no fix) with excessive battery drain resulting in premature battery failure, which I have experienced. My work-around for this is to hook up a battery maintainer, otherwise known as a “float charger.” I chose this unit because it is low-amperage and “smart” (turns itself off when not needed), so it should not dangerously overcharge the battery. There are no switches or settings, just plug it in. A single indicator light tells you if the unit is charging, desulfating, or idle. I replaced the short SAE to ring terminal cable to the battery with a longer cable so I could tuck that cable under my windshield cowl and not have to open the hood every time I plug it in. Being a maintainer, this 0.8 Amp unit will not charge a seriously discharged battery – for that you need a regular battery charger that will deliver 2 to 6 Amps and must be carefully watched. But this unit will keep your battery “topped off” while your car sits for extended periods between runs. ... show more

  • I have five of these things. They work great.
I have one permanently installed on my mower. Two on my boats batteries. One in my truck and one at my work bench. You can buy the big name brand one or several of these for the same price. Not a single issue with any of the ones I have purchased.

  • Charging
Plugged into '95 ST1100. Small size. Works great. Could use a longer cord like my Battery Tender.

  • Mediocre product, but it worked
I was skeptical this product would work but bought it anyways. I was worried about it overheating/overcharging my Vespa 12-volt battery. When I first hooked it up to the battery, removed from Vespa, the charger indicated that the battery was fully charged. I disconnected it, put it back in the Vespa, and of course, it did not turn over, or even click like there was any type of charge. I KNEW the battery was dead; I had left the key in the ignition and turned on. I stewed for a couple of days, and took some readings on the battery during attempted starts, and could see the voltage drop to near zero during this operation. I hooked it up again, and for whatever reason, the charger indicated charging! Very happy! I continued to monitor the charger for fear of it overheating. I also took periodic voltage readings. During the charge it was reading above 12-volts (12.3-12.65), but I kept it on. After about 10 hours of charging, and periodic voltage checks the battery indicated a charge of about 13.6 volts, but the charger still indicated charging (red light) and not green which would have indicated fully charge. I took it off charge for the night. The next morning I checked the voltage on the battery, a little above 12 volts. Popped it in the Vespa, and success! Contrary to previous posts, this does charge a dead battery, however, it was a small battery, and the auto stop charging feature DOES NOT WORK! I hope I don't screw up and drain the battery again, but I will keep this charger and monitor very closely. If you buy this product be very careful. ... show more

  • Worked for 9 months
I bought this to charge my riding mowers battery. Plugged it in and it worked for 9 months then it quit. I tried it on a few other things that have newer batteries but it’s dead. There’s no info about a warranty so no chance to get a replacement It’s smarter to spend a little extra money and get a name brand that’ll last longer instead of having to wonder when a brand like this will quit, ruin your battery, or worse. ... show more
