This is the worst cat literally box ever! I previously had the earlier model, which worked properly and fairly efficiently to keep liter clean. When it stopped working, I upgraded to this box. BIG MISTAKE! From day one, this did not work properly. It doesn’t distribute the cat literally evenly when it cleans. I’ve had this for about a month and a half, safe to say it’s an okay litter box. I have 2 cats both still kittens and have to replace it 1-2 times a week. I started buying off brand litter and a plastic pan to save money and it’s still a little inefficient. Long run wise buying a more expensive and higher quality litter box for $300 will save more than this for $140. The noise level is a little loud and about 4 weeks in it started squeaking at the rake hinges. I’d recommend buying a different litter box or at least getting one with a cover because after a week the odor control is nonexistent. ... show more

    • Huge Convenience, but Still Needs a Little Cleanup

I’ve been really happy so far with this Litter Box. It has made keeping up with the litter box so much easier and saves me from having to scoop multiple times a day. The automatic rake is convenient, and I really like the crystal litter because it helps control odors better than traditional litter. The setup was pretty simple, and I like that the litter box is uncovered, making it easy for my cat to get in and out. The LED indicators are also helpful for letting me know when it needs attention. Being able to go several days without constantly cleaning the litter box is definitely my favorite feature. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the rake doesn’t always catch everything, especially if there’s a little litter or waste in certain areas, so I still have to do some occasional cleanup. The replacement trays/crystal litter can also add up in cost over time. Overall, though, this has been a great convenience and has made litter box maintenance much less of a chore. If you’re looking for a self-cleaning litter box that helps with odor and saves time, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try. Although it is a bit pricey in my opinion. ... show more

I had the "legacy" model for 10 years before it died. I ordered this one which I thought would be an upgrade on the visual design (and I didn't need the counter) There are 2 primary issues: 1. The flap that hides the solid waste takes up a third of the box leaving my large cat very little room to do his business, so I expect it will get "dirty" very quickly. 2. This model has some kind of sensor that prevents it from working with just a reusable pan on the bottom. It seems the magnets need to be engaged with the magnets on the expensive refills or the unit won't stop throwing an "error" and blinking red light. While the refill trays may be convenient, they are insanely expensive, and not particularly eco-friendly. I found the "Classic" model for only $99 at my local Petco ($100 cheaper than the "Plus") Works great, and I'm not sure why it's not sold on Amazon. ... show more

We have used Pet Safe products for all of our animals and the new model of the scoop free litter box has been an absolute game changer at home. The convenience factor is incredible and being able to assemble it in a few minutes is great. The disposable pads are awesome and it is substantially less smelly than other “self cleaners”. Pre-portioned crystals combined with an easy entry point for cats make this the Cadillac of litter boxes. I’d give this 10 stars if I could! ... show more

They want you to purchase their replacement trays. I've had a PetSafe ScoopFree for a while over 10 years. I replaced one along the way and this is the fourth one I've purchased. They took the counter off this one. Why? Don't know but the old one I had even at the same price point had the counter. It is sent with a tray. I purchased a PetSafe ScoopFree plastic tray when I first purchased my first two units in 2018. It worked with the third one I bought when I replaced one of the original two. With this one it doesn't work. It doesn't work because they have decided that it's best to make more money from us and put a sensor in the tray so the resuable plastic tray won't work but this was until I discovered a sensor in the cardboard liner and removed it and put it on the plastic tray. All and all for the price point it's not a bad unit but over the years as something is supposed to get better it's not supposed to have features removed. The price hasn't gone down but they're taking away the counter and the ability to use their own reusable plastic tray. ... show more
