I don’t have to close the dog door with hard cover to keep the wind from coming into the house, my dogs have access to outside 24/7 now. Was super easy to install, flaps are built well and sturdy. This is a clear upgrade from the last version this company produced. They used to be made mostly of plastic. The new version is much bigger sized opening than the last xl size they used to sell(keep that in mind when ordering for replacement). You will need to resize your opening from the last version. This one now has an aluminum frame that appears to be much better quality than the previous version. Overall, very decent and great quality. Install was a mostly standard and a breeze. I bought this for my 2 labs. They run in and out all day chasing each other. The 3 flaps are held together by 2 plastic bars. They both broke because my dogs run in and out a million miles an hour through the door causing all the flaps to fall out of the door frame. I took pictures of the broken parts and sent them in to pet safe hoping to get some repair parts. Pet safe said that I was just outside of the warranty period and they also don’t have those specific repair parts to send. Instead of just telling me sorry there was nothing they can do they said they would just send me an entire new door for free, didn’t even charge me for shipping. I do love the door, once I finally got it installed. An extra set of hands would have helped considerably. I did install it without taking the door off and it’s a metal door which probably made it a bit harder. That being said, the smell is nasty. When I first took it out of the box I wished I had taken it out earlier to let it ‘air’ out. As others have stated it’s a distinctly ‘ skunky’ smell. Over time I have have gone ‘nose blind’, until I put the door slide on. When I take it off the skunky smell is back. Any suggestions to abate the smell would be great. Other than the smell the door works great and does keep the heat out. I expect it will keep the cold out this winter as well. ... show more

Easy to install, don’t trace the actual door frame like I did but follow directions to use the template instead. I used a circular saw for most of it as a jigsaw doesn’t do the best straight longer cuts. Works great for my 2 80+lbs dogs.
