I have had this litter robot for about 4 months now and it has been life changing. I have two cats so scooping became a hassle. The appearance is sleek and well made. The air purifier works well to get rid of smell. The size is fairly large it fits both my 13lb and 7lb Siberian cats. Fairly easy to clean and set up. The camera is also very good quality and works very well in identifying my two cats. Overall it is pricy but I would recommend this litter robot as the opened concept felt a lot safer than some other litter robots on the market. I use tofu litter and it works perfectly fine. There are times where the robot has slight issues such as the weight balancing being off which causes the robot to not be able to fulfill the clean cycle. But some adjusting of the placement usually solves the issue (make sure robot is on a flat hard surface).

I rarely write product reviews, but after using the Petlibro Luma for over a year, I felt it was important to share my experience so potential buyers have a realistic understanding of what they're purchasing. To be fair, the core functionality of the product is acceptable. Most of the time, it performs its primary job as expected. If you're simply looking for an automatic litter box that generally works, the Luma can do that. However, what ultimately made me disappointed with the product—and, to some extent, the brand—is a pattern of design decisions that feel more focused on recurring revenue than on creating the best user experience. For example, the waste bags are relatively small and expensive compared to generic alternatives. I eventually switched to third-party bags that cost significantly less and work just as well. The more confusing design choice is the porous bottom liner litter pad, which Petlibro recommends replacing periodically. After a full year of ownership, I still don't understand why a porous material is placed at the bottom of a machine that is routinely exposed to urine and feces. In practical use, I have never encountered a situation where I thought, "This material serves an important purpose." Instead, it seems to absorb odors and stains over time, creating yet another consumable part that users are expected to replace. The subscription-based AI features are another major disappointment. At over $100 per year, the subscription is not cheap, especially considering the quality of the features provided. The urine and stool detection is often inaccurate. What bothers me more is the "correction" feature that allows users to manually fix incorrect classifications. While this may improve the system over time, it essentially means paying customers are helping train the company's AI. It's difficult to justify paying a premium subscription fee while simultaneously providing free data labeling work. The video playback experience also feels surprisingly poor for a paid service. Recorded videos frequently take 5–8 seconds to begin playing. In 2026, that's hard to overlook, especially when I have cloud-based security cameras from other brands that offer near-instant playback without requiring an additional subscription. Reliability has also been a recurring frustration. There have been multiple occasions where the unit reports that the waste bin is full when it is clearly empty, or claims a sensor is dirty when it is not. The system often insists the issue is user error rather than allowing the owner to manually override or reset the warning. In these situations, the only option is often to wait and hope the machine eventually resolves the problem on its own. This creates the feeling that the product is still a prototype rather than a mature $500 consumer appliance. Instead of simply working, it sometimes feels like the customer is expected to help troubleshoot and validate the product. Overall, the Petlibro Luma is capable of performing its basic function, but the combination of questionable consumables, an expensive and underwhelming AI subscription, and recurring reliability issues makes it difficult for me to recommend at its current price point.

I absolutely love this litter box. I previously had a litter robot 3. It did well and lasted several years. I was considering upgrading to the new litter robot but I have multiple cats (two that don’t like to share the same litter box) so wanted to have two separate litter boxes and didn’t want to spend $2000. So I decided to try this one. I’m so glad I did. One thing I love about it is that it’s not a totally enclosed litter box which one of my cats had an issue with. Also, I absolutely love the air purifier that comes on when it’s shifting the waste out. I ended up also getting the same companies, water fountain and love that also I’m very highly impressed with these litter boxes and the water fountain. Oh yeah, and another thing I love about this is that you can remove the litter mat on the inside and replace it. I don’t know about the new litter robot but the old one you couldn’t do that and after a couple years all the waste was sticking, which is why I was considering upgrading. I’m so glad I invested in these. It has made my life so much easier. Highly recommend!!!

My cats love it it's safe because it auto turns off if it senses movement with the camera gives lots of info about my cats easy set up my only beef is the trash container sensors the bag has to sit perfectly and the cat poop/pee just towers up and sets off the sensor saying it's full when theirs plenty of space also I dislike the needing to be on tile/hardwood thing most of our house is carpet so it was not easy to find a spot for it it kept the smell under control easy to clean out it's quiet for the most part it's a little heavy but not nearly as bad as it could be

I've been wanting to upgrade to an automatic cleaning litter box for a long time. I was happy to see this one was within my budget. First, I love the design. It's attractive and doesn't take up more space than the original litter box, which was a jumbo top loading square box with pullout litter tray. Pros of the Luma are its great packaging for shipping, easy setup, quick connection to the app, and useful accessories. I love that it came with a little step because it's quite tall, but my cats are used to jumping on top of their old litter box so I haven't seen them use the step yet. The motion of the box when cleaning is smooth and low noise. The fan has two modes high which is loud and low which is much quieter (barely noticeable). From the app I can control frequency of cleaning from atomic to specific times or manually, how long the odor removing fan stays on, turn indicators lights on/off, and many more features. The AI can be trained to identify which cat (if multi cat household) is using the box and with the membership plan it will store videos of the cats interactions, analyze their weight and poop cycles. There is an area to add activity, water and eating schedule, as well. Cons are without the plan you get snapshots of the cat in the box and nothing else. From those photos you can teach the AI how to identify each pet. Other analytics are not available without the membership. My Luma has been getting stuck mid-cleaning cycle and sits in a holding pattern with the canister pointed backwards. It's been doing this since I set it up. I've followed all the guidance: 4" space all around, sits on hard surface, no objects are near the entrance and the cats are not actively using it, yet it keeps "pausing" because the weight sensors detect a pet nearby. It's like it times-out and just shuts off mid cycle. I sent a message to Customer Support and am currently waiting for a response. This hasn't caused me to like the device any less. When I notice it's stuck, I just wave my hand in front of a sensor and it resumes the cleaning cycle. Considering I don't have to completely clean a litter box multiple times a week I feel that is a minor inconvenience, and may be unique to my box. Other cons are the repplacment filter is quite expensive, currently priced at $19 each lasting 90 days. While other carbon filters are roughly half that price. The same goes for the replacement bags that collect the used litter. The membership is also expensive for information I find unnecessary. I didn't need any of that before with my "analog" litter box so I can't justify the price. Overall I do recommend. Keep size and space in mind for small homes, as it is quite large and somewhat heavy. The second is a picture when the inner chamber is stuck mid cycle. UPDATE: After less than a year (purchased 12/2025) it started having problems. It would stop cleaning and send a message waste bin is full even when it was completely empty, and would not perform the cleaning cycle. After some investigation I realized the sensors were dusty. So now with the regular full breakdown cleaning I also wipe the sensors in the waste bin slot. I haven't had this issue anymore, so far. Just a FYI to clean the waste bin slot and wipe the sensor regularly. I still love this device. The amount of time it takes to break it down and hose off the removable parts then put it back together (about 30 min), once a month does not compare to the daily litter box scooping and weekly cleanings of a standard litter box.

You have to scrub the inside of the rubber globe every week because waste gets stuck on the sides, and it’s a pain to take apart. Safety Hazard: My cat is terrified of it. It’s loud, and more than once, I’ve seen it start cycling while she was trying to get in. Thank goodness I was home to stop it. I don’t trust this thing. App is Useless: The app is just a way for the company to spam me with "error" notifications. It doesn't help with anything. This machine is a luxury product that does a worse job than a manual scooper. Save your money. Do not buy!

It’s a great litter box especially if you are already a part of the petlibro ecosystem haha. It’s a vertical rotation but is very safe. The sensors perform well. My cat got into it and it stopped immediately. Also the cleaning cycle pauses at least 5 times so a cat could easily get out if some sensor failure did occur. The drawer size is good and it notifies you when it’s full so you don’t have to check. The camera is high quality but the AI for cat identification is surprisingly poor. It would mix up my cats and one is dark brown and the other is bright orange. Waste ID was good. The odor control during the cleaning cycle with the fans is okay but it’s made up for the fact you can just turn on the fan again after the cleaning is done. This is MUCH easier to clean that other robots. This is a fair priced robot even without the AI. It’s a good blend of price and quality. Better than a budget robot but the cost doesn’t skyrocket

life been made easy since i bought this and 3 of my cats. do not have to deal with scooping the poo every time. very hygienic. only little problem is, if your cats start jumping out, the litter does come out of the - so trying to get a solution for this as 3 of my cats are very hyper. overall though, very easy to setup as well, with little noise - but you wont notice it even. but its a bit of an expense to buy the plastic throw bags long term.
