I’ve been using the PETKIT PuraMax 2 for a little over a month now with my two cats, and I have to say—it’s made a big difference in my day-to-day routine. Overall, I’m really happy with it, though I do think the setup process could be a bit more user-friendly. What I really like: ✅ The odor control is amazing. With the N50 deodorizer running, you honestly wouldn’t even know there’s a litter box in the house. I was worried about smells with two cats, but this took care of that right away. ✅ The app is super convenient. I love being able to see when my cats have used the box, check their weight, and get a reminder when it’s time to empty the waste bin. It gives me peace of mind, especially when I’m not home. ✅ It’s really quiet. I was surprised at how quietly it runs. My cats weren’t scared of it at all—which says a lot, considering one of them jumps at the sound of a paper bag. ✅ Perfect for multiple cats. I have two, and I only need to change the litter bag every 7 to 8 days. It keeps everything tidy in between without any extra effort from me. What could be better: ⚠ The initial setup took some patience. Getting the app to connect and installing the deodorizer wasn’t exactly straightforward. The instructions could definitely use some improvements—it wasn’t super intuitive. ⚠ It’s not cheap. This was a bit of a splurge for me, and while I do think it’s worth it for the convenience and cleanliness, it’s still a decent chunk of change. If you’re a cat parent who’s tired of scooping and wants something that helps you stay on top of your cat’s health and hygiene, this box is a game changer. Just be prepared to spend a little time on the setup—and a little money up front. But once it’s up and running, it really does make life easier.

I’m coming from the Max 2, and I can say that the Max 3 takes something that was already very good and brings it to the next level. There are a lot of little refinements in Petkit’s latest litterbox. It’s a little quieter. The display is nicer. Bags install even easier. The app offers even more customization options for timing scooping and deodorization. Then there’s the big improvements. The door is wider and lower, which means my cat kicks less and enters with more ease. There’s an added air deodorizer (N60), which means I cannot at all smell the box anymore. I say with a lot of confidence that the Max 3 is an excellent litterbox that has changed our lives living in a small apartment.

Here's why I rated so low: 1.) CONSISTANT MALFUNCTIONS 2.) CONSISTANT CONNECTIVITY PROBLEMS 3.) RUSTING PARTS 4.) INSTRUCTIONAL MANUAL IS NOT ACCURATE TO WHAT IT SHOULD BE What was the problem with the product? Answer: a. There were too many annoying issues to constantly unable to solve minor issues; therefore, I had to watch approximately 10 videos online as to what the issue could be. b. Had to constantly take apart and put it back together > resulting with malfunctions that would not be able to fix it self. c. Being a tech person myself and understanding that there can be underlying issues, the configuration and the coding for the sensors are absolute trash. d. It is not worth the money that it displays when you look into this product. Was buying the product worth it? Answer: No, it is not worth your money for the amount of constant issues and malfunctions. ( Yes, I say this once again > It is a horrible product ). Even some of the parts were rusting because you "aren't supposed to twist the deodorizer too "tight"; therefore, the liquid leaked". What are my thoughts? Answer: If I could tell anybody off of the street or any pet store that would want to sell this, I would let them know they are making a huge mistake and a horrible choice. I would rather pay the Litter-robot 4 (TOP TIER AUTOMATIC CLEANING LITTER BOX ON THE MARKET) than for my money to be spent on this ridiculous product. When it comes to making someone's life smooth and livable with buying things on amazon, this product will test your emotions and regret pressing the amazon button "ADD TO CART". I have wasted ENDLESS amounts of hours trying to fix this "so called..AMAZING AUTOMATIC LITTER BOX", and the past 5 days, I literally regretted every choice that I had made and breathe. I look into products for quality, effectivity, long-term life and I would lose a breath for this product. So we have had this for a while now. Ordered it in April and we have four cats so as you can imagine it helps but it still isn't able to keep up with the traffic but I haven't had any issues with leakage as was mentioned in some of the other comments. And overall I do love it but there is a bit of a learning curve with the app and the device as well as I have it sitting up on something a storage rack if you will. It seems to affect the way that it reads weight, so I don't really get the full benefits of tracking my pet's usage and it also sometimes doesn't realize that it has been used and will not scoop. So I'll have to perform a manual scoop, but otherwise it has been great. We typically use the tofu litter of the same brand or the mix with the cassava and the green bag, but that one I guess somehow got discontinued so it's kind of rough to come by but I think it works fabulously I'm not really sure why they discontinued that version of the litter. The noise level is pretty minimal. You hear the litters washing around, but you don't hear any wizing noises from the machine itself which is a bonus. Even my most skittish cats still uses the machine. The size is good. I have an 18 lb tomcat and he can get in there and use it with the best of them. I will say the tracking is absolutely deplorable but we keep the litter in the basement so it's not a big deal for me. We go down there and sweep frequently anyway and that's a problem we have with all of our litters and having so many cats. All in all I'll give it a four out of five. Is it perfect? No. But it definitely gets the job done a lot better than our old order box and saves us a lot of time when it comes to cleaning. It. Also does a really good job of keeping the smile down. It used to smell like a piss farm in my house because of all the cats. But now the smell is contained to that general area and only when there's a fresh bathroom usage. Not bad for four cats so the compartment definitely works as well as all of the fragrance products.

I love this litter box. I've had it for 2-3 weeks now and it's so good at consistently telling my cats apart (theyre 2lbs difference in weight) and cleaning and deodorizing. Dont smell anything. My only issue is that one of my cats face inwards to poop and so he misses... but thats not the litter boxes fault and more of a lacking neurons issue for my cat

Let me just say.. I own 3. This box hasn’t failed me yet and I got my first one about 2 years ago. This is the box to get. I’ve gone from cleaning my boxes 3 times a week to just emptying a little bag once every other day and filling the box back with my preferred litter. The transition was surprisingly easy. I just added some of their old litter to the new box.. set it up and done. They were interested before I even finished setting it up. This box is safe. Sometimes frustratingly safe. I couldn’t get the feature that moved past the safety stop at first but all three of my boxes work perfectly as designed now. I literally don’t have a negative for this box. It’s made my life better and my home cleaner and happier. The down to cleaning the box often is worth it for me. No scooping ( unless cat plasma butt) no carrying boxes around, no more dogs getting into the cat box. And the cats absolutely love always having a clean box. It’s fixed some of our behavioral issues even, between my cats and their pee on my clothes because I’m angry with you tendencies. The litter does get carried out of the box some, depending on your litter. My litter is usually walnut. But the mat is a great help. It’s a nice size for the box. The odor control. Darlin’.. it’s the move. I’m working toward a rescue and these will be the boxes I use.

Honestly I love this automatic litter box and it has made life so much easier for me. Working 36-48 hour weeks I’m often far too tired to bend and scoop out my cat’s boxes and couldn’t afford the higher end ones that don’t have anything more advanced than this one for half the price. It also weighs my cat for me so I can keep track of his health and automatically assigns it to his profile. Cleaning is easy and no hassle. Definitely worth every dollar!

Review edited 3/11/25: Petkit customer service reached out to me after leaving this review and were extremely helpful and wanted to figure out how the leak was occurring (I think one or both of my cats pees high up on the sides so it is able to seep through the seam above the litter pan) and offered to send me a new drum or a refund. I went with the refund and am updating this review simply because their customer service is fantastic! 5 stars for customer service! Original 1 star review: I loved this at first but realized urine was leaking and pooling in the base below the drum. It is impossible to see or access that area without removing the litter drum so you have to disassemble the whole thing to get to where the urine was pooling. It stunk so bad I gave up after only 2 months of use and went back to a regular litter box. This litter box is simple to take apart but is tricky to really clean well inside the drum itself. The fabric pad in the bottom of the drum where the litter sits does seem to hold up to digging, but it gets gross pretty quickly and I was never able to remove it smoothly without it flinging the little bit of litter left after emptying the box. The app is easy to use and it is nice to see weights regularly, but the weights were always about 2 pounds off for both of my cats, and for one of them it would randomly jump up a few pounds for several days and the go back down. If you have multiple cats of similar weight, the app will also mix them up. I wish it detected the cats from their microchip instead of weight. Overall, it’s not worth the money as it’s not actually easier to keep clean than a regular litter box and the ability for urine to leak is just disgusting. If they could figure out a way to prevent that entirely and be easier to deep clean, it would be great, but as it is now, it’s not worth the hassle.
